We have been made aware that the audio does not fit the preferences of all viewers and hope to take this feedback into our next video. Dear Liz, you were recommended to me by Tash from the Mostly Knitting podcast and i am glad she did that 😅
    I just wanted to say in regards to using ine size smaller needles at ourling that i once tried it but forgot to change back during some knit rows and it looked really odd. So i do recommend using a stitch msrker with a number attached to the right side near the edge to remind you changing the needle tip ❤ begginning of the r

    Beautiful makes. Thanks for sharing. Paige - I love your green Step by Step. I have some Madelinetosh yarn in the colorway Seaglass which is a lovely spring green and you have inspired me to make a cardigan with it. Either the Eva cardigan or the Step by Step. I want to make more cardigans and i think a nice V neck cardigan would be perfect. Liz - Well done on so much progress in one year of knitting. I understand your desire to improve on your butter yellow cardigan but it looks great, at least on camera. Going down a needle size for purling is a great suggestion or you could also try wrapping the yarn in the other direction as it uses less yarn. Then on the knit row, you just have to knit the stitches through the back loop as they will be mounted in the other direction.
    I have so many makes from 2024, it is hard to pick a favorite. I do love my Storm Sweater and my Champagne Cardigan. Also my Armor Sweater by Ankestrick which i did as a test knit and Camisole #9 out of KfO Cotton Merino (love that yarn). And, and, and....
    Happy to have subscribed and look forward to you next video.

    Your butter yellow sweater experience resonates with me a lot. I knit continental and my knitting tension differs when knitting in the round vs flat. I am relearning to purl when knitting flat and it is helping in making the tension a bit more even, although purling in this new way is breaking my brain and is taking a long time 😅

    Congrats on your first episode! I've subscribed. You didn't ask, but I can't help myself giving advice and I must nominate mittens as a great first stranded color work project because they are super forgiving when it comes to fit. Also, don't be afraid of intarsia if you like the look of it. I actually think it can be easier than stranded because tensioning is not so much a part of it. Good luck, Liz! Can't wait to see what you make.

    • @CelesteKnits
      @CelesteKnits 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ok, also... three things you might consider trying to make your purl tension tighter to match your knitting tension. 1. Use two different size needle tips, so that you're using the smaller one (it's in your right hand) on purl rows and the larger one on knit rows. 2. Wrap the yarn in the opposite direction on purl rows. Note that this will result in your stitches facing the wrong direction so you will need to knit through the back on knit rows so that they don't end up twisted. 3. Try knitting continental on your knit rows and continue English throwing on your purl rows. While the other two methods may tighten your purl gauge, continental knitting can loosen your gauge on knit rows to help it match purling tension.

      @ I’ve forgotten to say thanks for the tip to use mohair with Drops Nepal. Last year I bought Drops Nepal for three sweaters, it was a sale at Wool Warehouse and I couldn’t resist buying all that yarn. I made only one sweater and that one is pilling like mad. It is very soft and warm but the pilling is very disappointing. I’ll try holding Nepal with mohair for the other two sweaters. May I ask what gauge are your sweaters when holding Drops Nepal with mohair? Thanks.

    Pilling doesn't mean that the garment isn't wearing well. It just means that the short hairs are sticking up and need to be gleaned. Buy a sweater shaver. I know every knitting podcaster talks about this, but it's one of those things that's just a waste of time, and blames perfectly good yarn for something that's not true. Animal hair pills. Can't be helped.
