Very professionals musicians and they're well known in the music business! If you have ever seen these guys in concert, you know they give every single ounce of their energy and never miss a beat! They are incredible and tons of fun to be around! I have some great memories!
If I ever get the chance to see them I will. My dad loved them, and he passed away before he could take me to see them. He said they always put on an amazing show.
Just saw a poster for them at a local venue. My first thought, "CHRIST YES." I knew I'd love them before even hearing the music, and here I am, my ears wet with joy.
My science teacher told me that the story behind this is that musicians sign a contract when they join a band. The contract stops them from playing for another band. Well what if their band isn’t performing as many concerts as promised, they sneak out and perform as mummies so no one knows who is performing, so no one knows who is breaking the contract.
That is the gist of their gimmick. It allegedly stemmed from at least some of them being under contracts to other bands so by playing anonymously as mummies and going uncredited they're free to perform.
Essentially correct. They're all Nashville studio pros who are under contract to various studios and record companies and are rumored to have a HUGE pile of Grammies between all of them. They perform anonymously as "mummies" to prevent breach of contract, since their name and identity are part of the contract. And they also have a standing agreement that, similar to the Stig on Top Gear, if one of them is identified then they have to leave the band.
My dad introduced me to this band and we're seeing them for a second time live tomorrow. I'm really excited! Awesome band. They didn't (noticeably) miss a single note last time and performed for over an hour.
Well spoken. Most of my over 55 crowd understand the talent pool and relish in the refreshing OUTRAGEOUS vocal aspect but in perspective completely are in tune with the top shelf acoustics and how tight these dudes are with each other. Nothing but bravo for the HERE COME THE MOMMIE. They are having FUN.
My last boss introduced me to this band. Every time he heard a song play from them, he'd always get really excited and yell "Here Comes the Mummies!!" When explaining the story of how he came to like them, he was telling me he was at this kind of mixed-band concert and was feeling sick that day, not having much energy. As soon as they started going, he felt so much energy he just had to get up and dance despite not feeling great. He's retired now, but he definitely convinced me to listen to this band and now it's my all-time favorite.
I have to admit "the mummies" are one helluva band and Jeva (hope that's right) attached to a cow bell via his pelvis was amazing to see live. 2019 in Fort Wayne, IN finally I witnessed the entire spectacle from about 10 feet from the stage. I left covered in mummy sweat and was ok with that.
Two hours of non-stop high energy! The horn players always have the horns on their faces and blow their asses off! Amazing lead vocals from Mummy Cass and Oozie. You have got to see this group live! IT'S A PARTY!
I love this video. What a feel-good band. I just saw them about 3 weeks ago in Covington, KY. What a blast. Bought their "Everlasting Party" cd...so good. Mummy Cass has great vocal, the horns are amazing. They are so tight. Fantastic funk and jazz arrangements, hilarious double entendres. I just discorved their music a few months ago but I will be a fan for a long time to come.
These guys are great! Just found them from a link I checked because I was bored. So glad I did - I'm listening to all the stuff I can of theirs and loving it. They're original, slick, fun, enigmatic, clever and just flat out entertaining. I'll have to start encouraging my friends to listen to their stuff.
Just saw these guys live for the first time in Lawrenceburg, IN!!! Was a Mummy Virgin before tonight, but am hooked! What wonderful and talented musicians! Can't wait to see them again!
Awesome! THE best FUNK band I've ever heard! AMAZING TALENT!!! 'Los Lobos' + 'Tower Of Power' +'Santana'... NICE TWIST! I just wish they'd come east, to Va. Beach!!!
Saw these guys for the first time on 10.28.22. I’m not a big dancing party person. I moved my hips a little bit, but mostly my face hurt cuz I had a smile for about 2 hours straight.
I saw them at the Machine Shop in Flint, Mi last night and a blast. I had never heard a single song of theirs before the show, but I'm a fan now. One of the funniest shows around.
I am a DJ & have been entertaining for over 15 years and introduced HCTM to one of my grandsons who is 17 and is the lead singer of his own band; while visiting him recently, he was listening to them while playing Xbox; needless to say, he likes them very much as I do. One must remember the members of HCTM are ALL Grammy award winners, etc., hence, the professionism and great quality you hear while listening and viewing them is not by chance. Refreshing in comparison to what is playing today.
@@DiscoVolanteOU818the singer/guitar player in HCTM has remained the same throughout the band's run. The drummer has also remained the same and the bass player here is one of the two main ones in the band still. Their costumes have changed a bit over the years but they're the same guys.

These guys are great I just discovered them on Bob and Tom recently . They are the tightest band Ive heard in a great while .They deserve way more recognition than there getting .
We have tickets to see them March 10, 2016 in Pittsburgh, PA and can't wait. We have tried to figure out who the musicians are. Everyone of them is incredible and it shouldn't be this hard to figure it out.
I love trumpet man...he hits double G repeately, but the horn melody and countermelody at 4:10 is priceless. The guy with the hat, I wasn't sure he could really play but he can. He sings a lot.... Whomever arranges the horns does a great job. This is a great band, period.
I saw them at the Haynes festival 2013 and met Spike and Cass it was the first time I've ever heard of them and they were great! I'm going next year as a true fan!!!
Love the old lineup. Any idea why he left the group? Sure do miss his performances. Never saw him in person, but at least I can see him on videos as many times as I like.
I agree with12kfri.... they are the most amazing band I have EVER seen and I've seen a lot! They love to play, they love their music, and mostly they love their fans!!!!! If you have never seen them, once you do, YOU will NEVER be the SAME again!
This video was my first exposure to Here Come the Mummies...that was 13 days ago, Bob Mckalister, and in that time you have cost me $239 in CDs, DVD, concert tickets, merchandise, and gas! Thank you for posting this and opening the door for me to this awesome band. ^_^
Chris Nelvin I never heard of them and I have a lot of punk music and none are on the cds. Where are they from? These guys play R&B, not punk, so the music is original still.
They are def NOT punk. One of the reasons they are HERE COME THE MUMMIES. There was a 1980s punk band called The Mummies... Lengthened the name to differentiate from the California punk band. Call them HCTM for short.
