    I'm an avid competitor as well. Career cut short due to snowboarding lumbar injury 15 years ago. Need to tell you that watching this video a year ago has given me hope and drive to leave Massachusetts (have seen all the top docs around Boston, all ready to do 4 level fusion) and commit to a 4 level Artificial Disc in Switzerland. Thank YOU for taking the time to make this video. Hope you are still doing well. You're truly an inspiration!!

    Thank you for sharing your experience, I'm going to have this surgery for my L4 I was in a car accident and I've been living with pain ever since, I swear I keep rewatching this video because I feel that I found someone who gets it, the pain is so bad that some days is just a bit hard to find the strength to keep going and knowing that this surgery has helped you in a way that allowed you to live normally gives me so much hope and strength to keep going until the surgery. I am 26 years old and its scary and a bit nerve wracking but every time I feel anxious I just watch this video again.

    In 2013 I had a adr surgery using a Bryan disc between c5 and c6.its been five years with no issues. I'm worried that something will go wrong with the disc. In your opinion, should I have anything to worry about?

    • @jrchicago9216
      @jrchicago9216 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All the disc I researched are designed to last more than a life time. The question of ASD (Adjacent Segment Disease) might occur, but you would have symptoms if that were the case. At 5 years there is a about 9% chance of ASD versus over 28% with a fusion, and that was a US based study on the ProDisc. The video is from Dr Blumenthal at TBI (Texas Back Institute) on Seattle Spine Institute web site and it’s 2019 if I recall correctly. If you don’t have pain or mobility issues, you can probably relax and not worry. If you are in pain, you may want to go to PT.

    It seems ADR is an option for those with disc herniation, but can ADR be an option for someone with spondylosis induced bone spurs as well? I have prominent bone spurs causing multilevel stenosis and central spinal cord compression. Is fusion the only option for me or is ADR possible too to remove the bone spurs and still preserve motion?

    This is a great story. Im 33 and unfortunately i can relate to this guy a lot. It's very depressing going through so much pain and not being able to enjoy your life with your family. I have a 3 year old and there is times i can barely move much less run around with her. I guess i'll have to look into this more b/c disc fusion isn't a option for me I've heard so many bad things about it that quite frankly would make me even more depressed. Im sure i'll struggle with this the rest of my life b/c I'd imagine the cost of this surgery I'd never be able to afford.

      Yes it seem this is getting more common, but it is hard to count on. Some insurance companies are finally realizing how much money they save with this surgery. Other, alas, do not! Compare this to the cost of a lifetime of medication, therapy, etc, not to mention repeated surgeries.

    What happens, if the replacement (like after a few decades) does wear out or fails? (I understand that they are tested for more than 40 years, but what if? Or I get hit by a car and it breaks. Hypothetically)
    Can it be replaced, or then you HAVE TO use fusion?
    Can it just be taken out and replaced by another new disc implant (of the same kind or other)?
    Thanks for the answer in advance!

    • @EnandeGmbH
      @EnandeGmbH  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for asking Norbert. In the case of the M6 (our preferred disc) it is tested to last 60+ years without significant wear. It should alst a lifetime. However, if something should happen to the device, fusion remains an option. Replacement with another device may be possible but would depend on many factors. As for the device breaking in an accident, of course anything is possible. But John's experience is pretty telling. He broke his bike frame, pelvis and many other bones...but not his implant. His story is amazing. Thanks for watching it, Norbert. Let us know if we can be any further help.

      @@jrchicago9216 Thanks JR. I actually found a doctor in Cleveland, Ohio that uses the M6C. I am 9 days post op. He put in the M6C at levels C 5-6 and C 6-7. The doc has very good credentials and is doing a clinical trial right now on the pro-disc at two levels. I didn't qualify for the prodisc trial or the two level Mobi-C because I have a nickel allergy. I was able to get the M6C since it has no nickel. My doc did an excellent job, at 9 days post op I have great movement and little pain. Most of the discomfort now is just from the incision which is still healing.

    I think this could be what I need, but I might be too old now (54). I have severe pain in the centre of my low back. I think my disc at L5 S1 has deteriorated and because of this the slightest exertion will incur immediate increase in pain/incapacitation. I live in the UK and the National Health Service says MRI does not show much wrong. I recently had facet joint injection but this just made pain worse for 4 weeks. I have to take paracetamol, codeine and ibuprofen every day which helps a little.

      Hello Lazzaboyce. 54 is not a prohibitive age. In fact, many of our patients are in their 50's and some in their 60's. To find out if this is an option for you, send an email to evaluation@enande.com, and you can get a complimentary evaluation.

      @EnandeGmbH  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for asking Sanatan. For single level ADR with Enande/Dr. Ritter-Lang, it is 28K Euros plus 4K for additional levels. That includes all the hospital stay, hotel stay before and after (including a 5-star hotel during recuperation), and full brunches before and after hospital stay. And that is for you and a companion. We even provide hotel for your companion while you are in the hospital. The only cost to add to this is airfare and evening meals when not in the hospital. We do not rush people out of the hospital either like in many countries. 4-6 days in the hospital is common at Enande...if needed. Hope this helps. Joe, the surgeons can tell you if you are a good candidate or not. You can email an MRI and health history. Delay is not your friend though. If it compresses too much or bone spurs rub and cause problems, it can be a disqualification issue. Ritter Lang or Dr Clavel in Barcelona have performed thousands. I went to Barcelona as it’s a walking city and we had ten days after leaving the hospital to be a tourist. Clavel does his own surgery. Lang has a team.

      Our surgical team uses various devices depending on the surgical need. While the team favors the M6 in most circumstances because of its features and excellent track record, the team will utilize other devices where appropriate. As far as insurance companies, we have seen Blue Cross/ Blue Shield do this depending on which state you are in. Here is a list that someone else researched and provided to us. We cannot vouch for its accuracy or currency, but perhaps you will find it helpful. www.dropbox.com/s/tdc4e6fo9x1hy4p/List_of_All_Insurers_by_state_060117.pdf?dl=0
