I think Cecelia didn't deserve to survive her final game after what she did to Gabriela. Gabriela won her game, she should have been allowed to escape. But, nope. Cecelia decided her fate when she broke Gabei's neck. She'd be stuck there for a while. Also, something my stepfather noticed while watching the movie, is how in Saw II, when Kramer was discussing finding treatment, when he mentioned how he did once, he sounded REALLY upset about it.
Thing is technically Cecelia is alive but she's also trapped with only her head free, stuck in a room full of poison gas, while also being stuck in an abandoned building in the middle of no where in Mexico. The odds anyone will find her are borderline zero meaning she's gonna slowly die of either starvations or dehydration which is extremely painful and agonizing. So it's a fitting punishment as that's the fate she condemned her victims to.
I think she'll factor into the next movie. Otherwise, she'd be a huge loose end. Wouldn't be surprised if the "warrior kid" turned up again too. That was a heck of an "interview" for a new aide.
@@kingsridge You mean the cab driver? Maybe as a possible ally to John but I imagine he'd probably do whatever he can to avoid pissing John off more. He was one of the lucky few who managed to survive his trap and with comparably less damage. I doubt he's gonna take that for granted
Even if she did survive or if she was to have succeeded in killing John and Amanda odds are John whistleblew on her fraudulent business and she loses everything, she already lost before her game even started, she was probably rotting in prison or awaiting trial while all else transpired.
Honestly, I'm fine with it being a prequel. More tobin bell is always welcome, I love how that character almost seems tailor made for him to do at this point.
I really enjoyed that the first 30 minutes of the film didn't really feel like a normal saw film and gave time to build a connection to those in the game.
They made this more of a revenge thriller by doing what the best ones do: take the time to build up an engaging setting so the audience actually gives a shit and wants revenge.
@@user-yv7dt5je1l Not necessarily a bad thing if the movie is well executed which appears to be so going off of the positive reception I have seen for it. The series got stale a long time ago.
The boy Carlos was the best addition to the cast; the scene with him and John in the trap was done perfectly for the onslaught of emotions they wanted the audience to feel, and Carlos showed the whole dang point of most of Jigsaw’s traps: there is usually a way for everyone to survive, including the coupled traps, if people can find a way to have compassion through the fear. John was willing to prevent Carlos from any suffering because Carlos was completely innocent, but Carlos responded exactly the way that most of the adults wouldn’t in that trap. … Carlos will need some therapy after all of this, but the movie did the character perfectly.
I expected it cause they wasted so much time. Like your life is on the line, and you’re spending a minute to complain first. Just give up at that point
Such a good entry for the franchise. If this was the last time that we see Tobin Bell as Kramer, it is on helluva send off. As a side note, I actually know the actress that played Gabriela, she was sooo excited to be part of this movie :)
My daughter and I met Tobin Bell at a convention and he was one of the kindest most humble people we've met at one. Peter Capaldi is another who stands out as being incredibly humble as well.
I agree, even if this is Tobin Bell's last performance in the series, it would be a great send off. That's so cool about the actress who played Gabriela.
It’s extremely unlikely Cecelia survived since if she did then Cramer’s identity as Jigsaw would’ve been revealed to the world before it had been in Saw 2
That would mean she either has to come up with a extremely believeable lie or tell the world she has been scamming people dieing of cancer. Why would she tell anyone?
She probably became an apprentice 💀have you seen the other movies every survivor literally becomes and apprentice to Kramer Amanda, Gordon, the other doctor from the last saw movie
Shes dead because she cant escape the room since only her head is safe. Once she takes her head out, shes going to die to the poison or not take her head out and die from dehydration.
Amanda and John's relationship was really good in this movie, and I loved the glimpse of Hoffman - his unabashed glee when he told Henry "damn son, you went and chose JOHN KRAMER as your target? Of all the cancer patients in the world, you done fucked up, dummy" Sidenote, I had the thought of all those people at the support group (if they were still alive) finding out that their soft spoken member was freaking Jigsaw lol
@@witchingbrew3 Well... Hellraiser has a sexual undertone that SAW fully lacks (probably for the better, I prefer John being Amanda's mentor and father figure - at least *I* don't see any romance there, who's to say)
What I love about Cecilia’s trap is the implication that after she won she still lost. She’s trapped in that room with no way out and no one around to help her. Essentially John does to her what she did to others. Give her hope that she’ll live only for her to be trapped with no way out.
They have to keep “upping the ante”, but I agree, the games/traps have gotten absurdly unfair/biased towards their death. Even in the original saw, some guys got better deals than others - the fat dude who bled to death from the razor wire did so because of his weight/size and the fact that he was in such a panic to escape the room before the timer sealed it, I’m 90% sure I would have survived that one, both because I am somewhat underweight vs. overweight (easier to find a pathway), and because he was given a good deal of time, there was no need to carelessly rip himself to shreds in a panic. On the other hand, same movie, the guy who was poisoned, left naked in a room full of broken glass, covered in flammable grease, and given only a candle to read thousands of numbers off of the walls hopelessly searching for the combination before he burns to death. If it were me I’d just sit there and try random combinations (would be about as effective) and resign myself to the fact I’d probably die of the poison rather than risk lighting myself on fire, that’s so much worse. That’s my biggest gripe with the saw franchise, they try to make it seem “fair”, but all of his disciples setup traps that are either rigged or as others have said just far too brutal (even if they “win” not to die of blood loss) And they give excuses like with Amanda, setting up “games” that were a no-win scenario, including just tossing the key carelessly into the tub rather than putting it in his pocket/anywhere that the water wouldn’t have flushed it down the drain before he was even conscious…
genuinely enjoyed this movie, making it more personal to john was a smart decision- the movie sorta felt like it was making john an antihero rather than a villain
@@evandaymon8303The sequels did it but it was tied around a cop drama as well. It was understanding the apprentices through how they handled the encircling trail of police. A movie dedicated to the motivations & rationalizations of Amanda/Hoffman/Logan/Gordon vs. John Kramer would have been great. Instead, those introspective pieces are usually flashbacks. I get what you’re saying, I just think the sequels really failed to live up to that potential. The insurance company one gets the closest
"I don't kill people" he says, after putting victims in traps. 25 minutes later they're screaming murder because they got put in the trap. This movie was so fucking bad.
What I have found out after watching SAW X and re-watching SAW VI yesterday was that John actually went to the main player, the insurance company boss guy, and mentioned that he needs money for an experimental treatment in Norway. So idk who from the screenplay crew found this thing in Saw VI and decided to make a plot from it and it actually ties the films together, but a great job at that for sure
One small thing - The machine in Gabriella’s trap isn’t a heater, it’s a radiotherapy machine. She’s vomiting at the end because of radiation sickness.
Yeah and radiation poisoning is not a nice way to go since basically your organs are slowly but surely being radiated beyond the point of no return and since the amount of radiation she got was more than the usual dose I can say she died a very painful death. I am guessing as each organ failed she was in great pain.
Fun fact, remember how Kramer said not to let your emotions get involved to Hoffman? This movie was the reason because he learned from his own mistakes when that doctor grabbed the kid and put him in her trap.
Except he told logan nelson that it was logan himself who taught him that lesson since he realised he was killing someone over a mistake Ans that trap was way before this movie so doesn't fit with the timeline Plus that mistake wasn't anything to do with him getting his emotions involved It was just an unfortunate outcome due to how truly sadistic the woman was
@@adventurouspeach he did let his emotions get involved with these set of traps because he thought he was cancer free and was even going to stop doing his killing traps until he realized the truth and went after them for revenge. These traps were personal and it got innocents that had nothing to do with it involved. And I explained it wrong, maybe this is more clearer: "It is hinted that Carlos' force participation made John realize the dangers of making the games "too personal", which he warned Mark Hoffman about."
@@BlazeNarutoShippuden but it wasn't how personal these games were that got an innocent involved nor was it John's mistake I think it could be why he learnt not to be there *in person* since that's the real mistake here He was being way over cocky thinking he could 100% predict outcomes though we know he didnt learn a lesson about that due to things he says when constructing the magnum eye hole But it being a personal trap didn't lead to the boy being involved it was more bad luck I think its better to look at it as a way he is flawed Logan taught him not to be emotional since he realised he was going to kill someone over a mistake and that was wrong But despite this when push comes to shove he can't separate emotion just like none of the others could cause they were human He however believes he can because he is pretty narcissistic It's all very tricky though since the saw timeline itself ultimately is a mess
Amanda didn't care about Gabriela's age, it was 100% because she was a fellow addict. Amanda knew that addiction can make you do some really horrible things sometimes and she had sympathy for Gabriela. I just watched it less than 24 hours ago and she explains that to John, who says something like, "She still made a choice." I remember it very specifically because I'm in recovery myself and I thought John's response was harsh. Amanda understood that it doesn't really feel like a choice when you're doing it. I'm sure Gabriela was ashamed of her actions, but her brain was basically telling her, "Do this or you'll die." She was desperate. Plus, IDK what their exact ages were supposed to be, but Amanda is probably supposed to be in her 20s or 30s in this film. Even though the actress is older, the character was still pretty young. (Just to clarify, I don't think addiction is ever a justification to commit a crime, but I've had people tell me that it's something that I chose and that is WAY oversimplifying a complex disease.)
Amanda was saying that because she was keeping a secret (that she was with Cecil the night Jill lost Gideon) and was trying to find a way to tell him or soft him up when he discovered, but as soon as he gave that answer she called it off. I have a theory that Jonh already knew that Amanda was keeping this secret but i will not elaborate lol
Ironic part is if Amanda let Gabriella go second, she wouldve been set to go to the hospital since Cecilia wouldnt have broke free till after the third trap. So Amanda indirectly, by caring for Gabriella, got her killed. Ps. I was sooo mad when Gab died and the little boy got involved. But thats what this movie did well; play with your emotions.
I doubt she would have survived the second trap imo. She had no surgery/medical experience (unlike Mateo). If she somehow did complete the trap, I’m sure the operation/tools weren’t sanitary. Which would lead to infection and ultimately die. Assuming there wasn’t a possibility of infection, they wouldn’t have been able to take her to a hospital. John and Amanda had to be present the entire time to pull off their master plan/final trap after Cecilia received the phone call. It also seems that Cecilia would have killed her either way as she didn’t want any accomplices or to share her money. If John and Amanda had to be present, I don’t see a way they would have had the ability to take anyone to the hospital. Only possibility would have Diego who survived in the beginning to be an accomplice but we didn’t see any evidence of that.
John is like Elise Rainier of Insidious. The most interesting character in their respective story but got killed and now their creators keep shoving their ghost in their movies.
I screamed when I saw the notification and immediately clicked SAW X was a great SAW movie, the directors knew what they were doing, glad to have the OGs back
9:45 Loved that Diego was able to get the bombs out. Showed that John wasn't heartless as he did help him after he won and honestly Diego along with Gabriella did seem like the least scummy of the scam group.
I think they (Diego, Gabriella, Matteo, and Valentina) were likely victims of Cecilia's manipulations and desperate circumstances. Is scamming dying people scummy? Abso-fucking-lutely. Is it preferable to living in poverty? Yeah, probably. They were being taken advantage of and got doubly screwed (they certainly weren't getting enough of a cut to live like Cecilia was) but her trap in comparison didn't feel as mean-spirited as the others. And success was predicated on her willingness to murder someone else, which we already kinda figured (even before Gabriella) that she'd be fine with.
@@PanicMerchant Pretty sure it's implied the reason they were poor is because they spent whatever money they did get rather quickly. Matteo was a drug dealer stealing drugs from the place he works at to give to Gabriella which makes him even more a scumbag and Valentina never showed even a hint of remorse for what she was doing. Plus they were pulling in hundreds of thousands of dollars per person, I highly doubt Cecilia just walked away with most of that.
@@thefanwithoutaface8105I'm quite sure Cecelia kept the lion's share of the scam money considering the size of her mansion. Also, it's because she's the mastermind behind the whole operation.
@@jaryRimyour right. I’m shocked about how many people didn’t mention how Cecilia’s got away with no issue 😂. She most likely did die there but we don’t know that.
This movie feels like it shows why John is more of an Anti-Villain trying to get back at bad people who've either done bad things to him anyone he's close to rather than a straight up serial killer
Some other cool details I noticed: At a few points Amanda states her disdain for Cecelia, seeing her as the most deserving of punishment. As always, John sticks by his code of ethics and if tests are survived, the subject is allowed to live. Cecelia survived her test as we saw. Most likely angering Amanda. Later in the Saw series in the earlier films, Amanda begins creating traps in place of John - I believe she created the “Angel Trap” (one that rips your ribs out) and the “Class Room Nail Bomb Trap” (one with the dude who has to rip the shackles from his skin and jaw) - we later find out that both of these traps were designed to be unsurvivable, even if the subject succeeded in their test. We can extrapolate that it was Cecelia’s survival here (where Amanda felt she deserved to die, but managed to survive), that was the initial event prompting Amanda’s creation of the unsurvivable traps to ensure subjects died if she felt they deserved it. Also, the trap we see John sketching is the “Rack Trap” we see in Saw 3, whose events happen chronically after this movie. Also-Also, the “Blood Boarding” trap at the end was most likely intended for John and Amanda (planning to work together to endure the trap knowing Cecelia and her lover would eventually go grab that money. John and Amanda probably practiced the ‘intervals’ by which they’d pull their levers to swap the blood-flow and give the other a chance to breathe). Sorry for the text wall.
The finger one was particularly easy because of the dial. Like in theory I'd rather cut a limb off than die, but if I had to do it myself with a saw, I most likely couldnt. To physically inflict the harm yourself is so different from clicking a button to do it for you. You can just quickly flip through the dial and not have time for your brain to stop itself
I was honestly thinking that too, it would be a lot more painful and you might honestly pass out from the pain, but just turning the dial immediately to 5 sounds like a great idea. The only problem I see is that John might have set the dial up in a way that it wouldn't allow you to flick immediately to 5, since we see lights flicking on with each dial turn. My guess is - He might have either imagined that no one would think to pull this kind of move, or that he would set it up in a way to not allow immediate turn to 5 - To prolong the pain of his subject and make him repent for his sins through the long endurance of pain.
He was an old man then and is an old man now, Tobin Bell is a fantastic actor so even if visually he didn't perfectly fit the prequel he still pulls it off v nicely
@@theashwoodfaerieIt’s crazy cos he doesn’t even look 20 years older. Especially in real life when he doesn’t look so worn out, he has aged pretty good!
I'm liking these sequels where you pit the villain against other evil characters. Like the Orphan prequel where its a crazy dwarf vs a murderous mother and son
I loved Saw X, it's in my top 3 with Saw and Saw 2. The leg-chopping trap made me squirm that's probably one of the most disturbing traps in the franchise
Honestly, I'm disappointed John wouldn't provide a bit of leeway in compassion in wanting to show he's not completely heartless. Val and Mateo did the task and provided the samples, the meters just didn't register the samples quick enough. Like if the ending is literally Cecilia proving she's truly the most heartless person in the room killing Gabriela and forcing a kid to be part of a trap, they could have shown her killing them in the end instead of dying because of time.
Just saw it yesterday, and I wholeheartedly agree: it's probably the best Saw movie to me. I really hope they keep this momentum up for any possible sequels.
Who would have ever thought that the TENTH entry in a horror franchise would do the best?! I think it's wild. I never watched the series so I recently binged them, and they were ok. I decided to see this one because of the positive reviews. I was shocked at how good it was. I actually loved all the character development. I really wish they didnt (spoiler for SAW 7 ahead) kill off Jill. Tobin Bell is 80 and ready to pass on the torch. Would have loved if Jill took it up and we had a female lead in a franchise like this. Plus I loved the actor, one of the best things about the earlier movies!
The reason I think saw X was a success is because John Kremer was the star in this it took them a while to realize this It was interesting to see him make mistakes and learn from those experiences …..if he wants to make things fair he shouldn’t hand over the reigns to apprentices (*cough* Amanda and Hoffman) she definitely rigged those games
The sympathy for Gabriela as a fellow addict could also be due to the fact that Amanda and her addiction played a part in the death of John's unborn son, something John doesn't know. She could be searching for sympathy and forgiveness from John by proxy.
I thought the exact same thing. And his answer made her keep the secret that in her death because of hoffman`s blackmail. I somehow think that if she told him John would`ve forgiven her.
I respect this movie the most out of the series for 2 reasons: I agree with Jon's choice of who should play on all counts, and I actually felt like he was the protagonist for once. Still don't agree about the 'we're not killing people they're not saving themselves' line, but I felt like this one was along the lines of an actual sense of cosmic justice. And you feel yourself rooting for some of the victims to live, and against others, meaning they gave you a good setup to who these people are. They're not nobodies who you just met and only learn about through a one sentence explanation or flashback; they're characters who do things in the movie that end them up in the traps and you see their complicity. It's otherwise not better direction or more innovative traps than any of the other films, though it does do away with most of the bloated police procedural crap that's been dragging down the franchise since the 3rd film. But I think it stands tall in the franchise and it's the first one I've seen in a long time that makes me cast a 'continue doing this' vote.
I don’t know if you read the comments or not.. but if you do, I would love to see a video of you doing ‘top movies you actually find scary’ list. Your list would be what the internet needs because you’ve covered SO many creepy films. I particularly liked the discussion you did on the Blair witch project. More videos like that please! Appreciate your work and time.
What I wanna know is WHY Valentina didn't get the bone marrow form the leg she cut off. She was told the rules and decided to let her leg drop. The trap itself was convoluted, but she did not have to go through extra pain by stub suckage. Anyway, great movie! Made me go ick. Was fun. c:
I think both her hands was on the wire cutter and the leg that was freshly cut flop down further away from her. She can’t move forward to pick it up cause the wire thing was exactly near her neck so she had to sit up straight the whole time. Just my take 😅😂
I absolutely loved this one honestly, loved having Amanda back and more expanse on her relationship with John, it was more emotional than the average saw movie and i really enjoyed that, especially with the setup they gave to the characters, plus the callback to the original reveal when the last game started was amazing, the Hoffman appareance was amazing too with him mocking henry for trying to get John, did i mention i love amanda
The callbacks are SO rewarding for those who've seen every movie. When Kramer sat up covered in blood similar to the first movie, I lost it. Gabriela had to beat her arm and ankle free (similar to the detective in the bathroom) I'm so happy this movie didn't flop!
20:02 Hoffman's scene didn't show that he was working with John earlier than expected. He was working with John during the events of the first film. That was revealed in "Saw V".
3:03 the fact that John imagines his victim failing in his own fantasy really shows that, deep down, he is just a murderer. He wants his victims to fail and die.
@@ohthatswild1755it’s not like there was any external reference to persuade his imagination. All of that scene that played out was from his own creation. He had to imagine the man failing the trap. Now maybe instead of implying that he wants everyone to fail, it could possibly be to signal that perhaps that trap was too brutal for such a crime like pickpocketing.
The Saw series is interesting because it has so much potential. When you see the people trying to figure out how to win the games it's scary because you see them using logic and struggling with decisions. Perfect tension building. The 1st movie got it, the later ones missed it completely.
Agree. First one is the best by a long shot. Second was good as well but the 3rd was starting to become ridiculous. Still decent and watchable with the tension and twists. 4th jumped the shark and its been mediocre from there
I also feel this is the best chapter in the franchise, IMO it's the best also because it shows how John really does care about innocent ppl and because FINALLY, somebody gets a happy ending which is little Carlos the warrior? I was so glad how John put that money to good use and gave it all to him for his family?
I was really mad about Gabriella’s death it was so unfair and terrible. I also don’t blame John for what he did though tbh 🤷🏻♀️ it’s kind of the first time I’ll say that. Also really loved this movie
@@Elatenl I wouldn’t say earn money. More so scammed and played him by hope. I preferably just wish he took the blonde woman out the most tbh. Like playing on people’s hope and whatnot just wasn’t giving. I mean there are other victims of his game that have done way worse.
@@anthonyj6092Highly doubt she is ever getting out of that room. I think that was supposed to be the takeaway lol. She will probably die there slowly of starvation or dehydration.
Been very excited to see you cover this movie after I saw this in theaters. I loved how it felt like a real saw movie as well like you said in the start, and I agree it’s one of the best! It really brought back the feeling of the first few saw movies
after forcing my mom to watch Saw 1-6 in preparation, we went to see Saw X in theaters - and we had a great time. this movie was so awesome I loved a lot of what they did here, I’m hoping the trilogy that was just greenlit uses X as the blueprint. mom also loved it, she only had to look away like 4 times. I’d put this near the top of my list, X was easily my favorite Saw since 2.
Hoffman has been working with john since before the first SAW. His mock game tookj place before the razor wire and flammable jelly traps since he is present at both of them. This makes him John's second accomplice with Logan nelson would be john's first. Then Amanda, then Jill, and finally Gordon
I really liked how they humanized John with this one. The poor guy was hoping for a cure only to get scammed out of 250k. As someone who also has a disease that could easily take me out if I'm not careful, I can really sympathize with him. Those assholes certainly got what was coming to them. Not so much with the other players from the rest of the series.
@@Elatenla fellow cancer patient had vouched for them and sent John a seemingly legitimate website. Cant blame a desperate man for cutting some corners
So as someone that loves the plot of Saw but is too squeamish to watch them, the only thing I'll say is if this takes place between Saw 1 & 2 then Hoffman's appearance isn't surprising. We see in a prior Saw movie that Hoffman was working for John back in Saw 1. He was who planted Dr. Lawrence's pen at the crime scene which resulted Detective Tapp suspecting the doctor was Jigsaw.
One thing missing that's kinda minor is that John (or Dr. Gordon, considering the saw 7 canon) cut out jigsaw pieces from the victims bodies as to signal that the person lacked the will to live.
I love the comeback of the characters. The saw movies have a special place in my heart. I really enjoyed this movie way more I thought I would. The holy trinity of Kramer, Amanda, and Hoffmann is always welcome. I’m excited for saw xi because maybe will get johns ex wife who I like as well
I love how everyone freaked out when a 27 year old Ben Platt played a teenager in "Dear Evan Hansen," but 80 year old Tobin Bell playing someone in his 40s is totally fine. 🤣 John Kramer was 52 when he died. I love Tobin Bell in this role, but he has NEVER been age appropriate for the part. LOL Why not just make John older?
I think the one bad part about the saw series is how they messed up by killing John early (it makes sense with his diagnosis, but yeah its led us here), and every time they get us hooked on a "new jigsaw" (Amanda, Hoffman, Gordon, etc), they ALSO get killed off after 2 or so movies. I thought Hoffman was the best Jigsaw personally, aside from John himself.
For most of the movies with John Kramer, I was always half with him, half against him, when it came to those he made play his games. Like yeah, maybe they did deserve to play the game, or nah, they didn't need to go through that. But this one hit a little too close to home. I lost my mom to stage IV ovarian cancer and though she wasn't scammed, the idea of someone like her, sick, weak, going through aggressive treatments and surgeries, being taken advantage of by scummy people, made my blood boil. I have no sympathy for those who scam people when it comes to something as serious as cancer.
Something that some people misbelieve about the Bloodboarding trap is that Kraimer was expecting Carlos to be there. John would never, especially to a child. Everything went according to plan, until Carlos was lured by Cecilia. There was ever going to be one survivor, the trap was set up so Cecilia would put Kramer and Amanda into the trap together, it was another test for Amanda as John already knew she wasnt a believer of the methods. As for Cecilia, even though she survived the game, being the only living person in the complex doesnt look good for anybody. In addition, Diego could have been involved in later events as well maybe? Who's to say. I personally really did like this one, its definitely up there with the better half of the series for sure, but I still think I liked Spiral more. In addition, the mid-credit scene feels like John was fully aware of every rigged game, and even condoned them in a way? Which just felt, wrong to me. Like being able to kill Gannon without the Master Sword
I agree with all of that except for I don’t think John saw it as “another test for Amanda” - it seemed like Amanda knew what the plan was and that her and John were the ones meant to enter the trap and they could help each other survive long enough until Cecelia and Parker enter the room and get trapped.
@@casusbelli9225 to be fair though, it feels especially grotesque to put a child in an actual trap. Sure we had Daniel in the house traps but Amanda was there to look out for him and he was older, and other than that we don’t have any actual children in a Saw game
@davidfairweather3301 Is it weird that I find him hacking up drug addicted prostitutes to be off? I've always found him putting innocent people in to traps to torture others or just to be awful to be far but killing people like Valentina and Gabrielle is the first step in being a normal serial killer. I don't know why people argue that guys like Dexter and John would finds any excuse to kill people.
@@davidfairweather3301 This was the point I had as getting at. John already lost his child, why is he going to knowingly put another child in danger? He wouldn't, Zep wasn't going to kill the Gordon's in the first movie regardless of the outcome, even then Tapp got there and saved the day, I guess, John would never willingly hurt a child, would have been more accurate to me train of thought
Damn I just watched this, wasn't expecting an explained video this quick. I would honestly love it if this was saw 2 and the past movies are forgotten mortal kombat 9 style.
One thing that was overlooked. So had the two scammers actually been forced into the trap and worked together to survive… I mean taking turns getting drenched by blood to avoid drowning would have been pretty fundamental….. would they have really been let loose for having won their game? Kramer doesn’t get his revenge and life goes on?
I think the point was that they would be too selfish to do so. He does extensive research on his victims and creates traps around their flaws. Probably expected them to just drown each other and if they did actually escape it by showing compassion, then that's that.
Never was a fan of the franchise but I will check this one out much like those Final Destination movies people only watch these movies to see what colorful ways people are going to die.
after watching saw X i rewatched saw 1 and 2, and what i really liked about saw x is that it more strictly adheres to jigsaw's own code. like. saw 1 and saw 2 some of the 'games' just didn't make sense and weren't even fully targeting the specific crimes of the characters. so it felt like saw x was almost a redo of the jigsaw concept where they really tried to deliver on the concept. i really loved it
I feel this film could have been trimmed a bit and that they blew a lot of budget on an un-needed fake out test at the beginning and the Valentina trap felt unneeded except to add a literal prop later, that said this was a excellent SAW movie and am happy it got made.
Id like to disagree with the idea that in the gas trap they had to kill the other to survive. It parallels the bloodboarding trap, where carlos and john took turns in order to survive. They could have done the same in the gas room.
Cecelia taking down an able bodied man with a weapon, in life and death situations by herself while also disorientated because of the poison gas (albeit he's also inhaling the gas, and they're lovers) was the most absurd and unbelievable part of this movie lol.
On one hand - Yeah. On the other - The movie sets up where Parker is trying to break the windows in front of the vents - He's taking a larger dose of the poison has while Cecilia is away and has a small moment of safety before she gets hit with it. Plus, she also immediately goes to the vent, so she has another moment of air instead of gas.
Amanda and John didn't "change" their game because Cecilia called Parker, they had planned it all all along. Makes this movie 10x better to me because it was all one big test for Cecilia to test her compassion
technically they did change it last minute ... Cecilia was suppose to put John and Amanda in that "fake trap" .. not John and the little boy .. that's why John said "Didn't go quite as planned" afterwards ..
@@richieave55How did they "change" the game though? The thing that was changed is who was put in the trap. John's plan was to be put in the trap, and he was. They didn't "change" anything, as the end result is what was planned, except a kid got involved

Saw X is not a good movie because it focuses on the traps, Saw X is a good movie because it focuses on the people. It's been a *long* time since we've had characters that aren't just death fodder. Tney take their time here and it shows, maybe a little too much though. The trap plot started dragging on for me because I wanted to get back to the plot around Amanda and John.
Refreshing Saw sequel/prequel that leaves enough of past tropes but, has enough suprises to keep you on edge. The biggest being when John is forced to face his own trap alongside Carlos with the add on twist that John has never had kids become players. Finally it shows how much John thinks ahead, even taking into account that if he had to get in his own trap
I doubt he's gonna take that for granted
exactly! but when i saw her use ole girls entrails for rope i was like this b is clearly with the shyt and is a psycho!
Even if she did survive or if she was to have succeeded in killing John and Amanda odds are John whistleblew on her fraudulent business and she loses everything, she already lost before her game even started, she was probably rotting in prison or awaiting trial while all else transpired.

Not necessarily a bad thing if the movie is well executed which appears to be so going off of the positive reception I have seen for it.

I LOVED seeing his return! ❤
I don't count Spiral as Canon, since it doesn't have Tobin. THIS was the proper return to Saw 🥰
she played her role really well
I agree, even if this is Tobin Bell's last performance in the series, it would be a great send off. That's so cool about the actress who played Gabriela.
Please tell her she was fantastic!
It’s extremely unlikely Cecelia survived since if she did then Cramer’s identity as Jigsaw would’ve been revealed to the world before it had been in Saw 2
The story is continuing in Saw XI. I assume John has more plans for her. Also, going to the police could be very compromising for her.
That would mean she either has to come up with a extremely believeable lie or tell the world she has been scamming people dieing of cancer. Why would she tell anyone?

Yea the traps are just too brutal and terrible to begin with, even if you win you'll bleed to death. This is just full mutilation.
@@zZiL341yRj736so you don't like saw movies doing what saw movies do?
That’s my biggest gripe with the saw franchise, they try to make it seem “fair”, but all of his disciples setup traps that are either rigged or as others have said just far too brutal (even if they “win” not to die of blood loss)
And they give excuses like with Amanda, setting up “games” that were a no-win scenario, including just tossing the key carelessly into the tub rather than putting it in his pocket/anywhere that the water wouldn’t have flushed it down the drain before he was even conscious…
genuinely enjoyed this movie, making it more personal to john was a smart decision- the movie sorta felt like it was making john an antihero rather than a villain
Well other sequels did that too like one where he had his apprentices go after insurance people for screwing lives of others and john himself.
@@evandaymon8303The sequels did it but it was tied around a cop drama as well. It was understanding the apprentices through how they handled the encircling trail of police. Fun fact, remember how Kramer said not to let your emotions get involved to Hoffman? This movie was the reason because he learned from his own mistakes when that doctor grabbed the kid and put him in her trap.
interesting detail
Except he told logan nelson that it was logan himself who taught him that lesson since he realised he was killing someone over a mistake
Ans that trap was way before this movie so doesn't fit with the timeline
Plus that mistake wasn't anything to do with him getting his emotions involved
It was just an unfortunate outcome due to how truly sadistic the woman was
@@adventurouspeach he did let his emotions get involved with these set of traps because he thought he was cancer free and was even going to stop doing his killing traps until he realized the truth and went after them for revenge. These traps were personal and it got innocents that had nothing to do with it involved. And I explained it wrong, maybe this is more clearer: "It is hinted that Carlos' force participation made John realize the dangers of making the games "too personal", which he warned Mark Hoffman about."
@@BlazeNarutoShippuden but it wasn't how personal these games were that got an innocent involved nor was it John's mistake
I think it could be why he learnt not to be there *in person* since that's the real mistake here
He was being way over cocky thinking he could 100% predict outcomes though we know he didnt learn a lesson about that due to things he says when constructing the magnum eye hole
But it being a personal trap didn't lead to the boy being involved it was more bad luck
I think its better to look at it as a way he is flawed
Logan taught him not to be emotional since he realised he was going to kill someone over a mistake and that was wrong
But despite this when push comes to shove he can't separate emotion just like none of the others could cause they were human
He however believes he can because he is pretty narcissistic
It's all very tricky though since the saw timeline itself ultimately is a mess
You're reading so remarkably deep
Amanda didn't care about Gabriela's age, it was 100% because she was a fellow addict. Amanda knew that addiction can make you do some really horrible things sometimes and she had sympathy for Gabriela. I just watched it less than 24 hours ago and she explains that to John, who says something like, "She still made a choice."
I remember it very specifically because I'm in recovery myself and I thought John's response was harsh.
« It’s not a choice »… when you making the choice… yeah…
I don’t have the background that you do, but I immediately understood it was because Gabriella was a fellow addict
@@Yamatsu7elaborate on that theory sir
100% this. Anyone who says “uuhhh idk just don’t do it :3” has never experienced addiction.
@@SomeBrogurtthey had their own traps

Cant believe the real saw trap was the friends we made along the way
I laughed a bit too hard at this
Some other cool details I noticed:
At a few points Amanda states her disdain for Cecelia, seeing her as the most deserving of punishment.
I think the little boy was always a part of it bc john kept telling him the word pull and how did the child get there? He was probably told
@@tandy101facts, i noticed the same thing
Wait they actually pulled off making a prequel with the same actors 20 years later?
He was an old man then and is an old man now, Tobin Bell is a fantastic actor so even if visually he didn't perfectly fit the prequel he still pulls it off v nicely
@@theashwoodfaerieIt’s crazy cos he doesn’t even look 20 years older. Especially in real life when he doesn’t look so worn out, he has aged pretty good!

The reason I think saw X was a success is because John Kremer was the star in this it took them a while to realize this
It was interesting to see him make mistakes and learn from those experiences …..if he wants to make things fair he shouldn’t hand over the reigns to apprentices (*cough* Amanda and Hoffman) she definitely rigged those games

Except the person who masterminded the entire plan got away Scott free in the end..
I was actually on his side. He's the protagonist in this one for me.
It is comfirmed to be between saw 1 and 2
One thing missing that's kinda minor is that John (or Dr.
I’m excited for saw xi because maybe will get johns ex wife who I like as well
I loved watching it in theaters and just hearing FoundFlix talking about it makes me want to watch it all over again
Didn't have "saw 10 will be good" on my 2023 bingo cart, but here we are
"Life coach."
I love how everyone freaked out when a 27 year old Ben Platt played a teenager in "Dear Evan Hansen," but 80 year old Tobin Bell playing someone in his 40s is totally fine. 🤣
John Kramer was 52 when he died.
Honestly, Valentina, Gabrielle and Mateo clearly demonstrated the will to live.
This man is doing the lords work! Thanks for these rundowns/ending explained!
Haha I love your little commentary after explaining each scene, definitely keeps the gore at bay😂😂
perfect way to end the week 💪🏼
so true
I love FoundFlixs' personality. These reviews are amazing! Some of my favorite videos on TH-cam! It wouldn't be the same without FF ❤
I have no sympathy for those who scam people when it comes to something as serious as cancer.
yeah unless they do something to u or ur loved ones you ll feel bad for them
Am so glad u finally, gave us Saw X explained; love to see ur back in the Saw franchise
>John would never, especially to an innocent.
Joyce in Saw 3D, Lawrence's family and the Lynn Denlon's daughter tend to disagree.
When cecelia goes outside to get Carlos she had a choice, she could have gotten tf outta there but her evil nature led her back into the game
I'm still in shock over how much i love this movie. My top for the entire series
nicee
thanks😂😂 @sasukeuchiha8801
Jigsaw saw that🐐. Can never outplay him, always 3 steps ahead. Big brain movie
Damn I just watched this, wasn't expecting an explained video this quick. I would honestly love it if this was saw 2 and the past movies are forgotten mortal kombat 9 style.
Been waiting for this one, love your videos!
“You really want me back for another one?”
-Tobin Bell (Probably)
I’ll give it a 8/10 Tobin bell is always a win he needs to be in more movies
I’ve been waiting for this video!!😁
Was waiting on this one, thanks Mr.Flix
This ended up being my favorite Saw movie
Me too
9:49 “ at least I didn’t let you explode, you’re welcome 🤷♂️ 😊” lmaoo😂😂😂
Saw 3 is my favorite. Double twist in the end tops any other movie in the franchise
Yep Alley death still hurts
Saw 3 is underrated in the series
Let this be a lesson: Don't f*** with John 'Jigsaw' Kramer.
Never was a fan of the franchise but I will check this one out much like those Final Destination movies people only watch these movies to see what colorful ways people are going to die.
after watching saw X i rewatched saw 1 and 2, and what i really liked about saw x is that it more strictly adheres to jigsaw's own code. like. saw 1 and saw 2 some of the 'games' just didn't make sense and weren't even fully targeting the specific crimes of the characters. so it felt like saw x was almost a redo of the jigsaw concept where they really tried to deliver on the concept. i really loved it
lol when john mentioned life coach, all i could think of is ILL COACH THE SHIT OUT OF YOU lmao
@@jonahbrown5669 no his plan was for him and Amanda to be put in the trap... idk why yall making a big deal out of it 🤦🏾♂️😂 .. it was a small change of plans .. who fkn cares lmao
@@jonahbrown5669 I swear people go in comments just to look for someone to argue with 🤦🏾♂️😂😂
When victims are so close to completing their task, John should have a contingency button to add more time lol
I've been waiting for this video😭🙏
Refreshing Saw sequel/prequel that leaves enough of past tropes but, has enough suprises to keep you on edge. The biggest being when John is forced to face his own trap alongside Carlos with the add on twist that John has never had kids become players. Finally it shows how much John thinks ahead, even taking into account that if he had to get in his own trap
That ending plot twist had me getting up and clapping. What a movie. The best saw movie in the entire franchise imo
What plot twist? Ending was so stupid 😂
@@dogsbreakfast4952 how tf was it stupid?
I didnt realise "ending explained" actually means "heres a recap of the entire film start to finish"..
I loved it, I'd want an 11th of this rather than another franchise that at this point the movies make no sense
Yeah that definitely had me confused lol
8:58 This whole part was so weird to watch mainly because we share the same name 😂
