Boyd - thanks SO much for taking the time to make these videos. I had purchased the Enterprise Refit and was about to start that, but since I am a complete novice with electronics and lighting, and been out of the modeling hobby for many years, I decided to first build the Seaview, a ship that has many wonderful memories from my childhood and is truly timeless. The Sewview should be a good learning experience before the challenge of the Enterprise. Thanks again!

Very nice model Boyd! The lighting looks fantastic as always! The only thing I noticed is the red and green navigation lights on the conning tower are above the sale planes on the studio miniature; not below. Definitely visible on the television version (excluding 1st season), but difficult to see on the movie version. You red alert lighting scheme is awesome!

    Thanks Marc,
The navigation lights on the tower are optional on this version. The Instructions mention that they were added later for the TV version. So, I decided to take some liberty there and I put them in below the dive planes. I'm pretty happy with how the lighting ideas worked out.

Yep I use the Spies Hecker paint on just about everything. I keep a few enamels on hand to use on small detail parts. I have not been overly impressed with most "hobby" paints both in prices and quality. I can get an 8 oz bottle of the Spies paint which will make about 2 quarts of paint when reduced, for about $35. Easy to figure out its more cost effective than to buy that much hobby paint. Same thing on the 16 oz cans of primer I use.

I become hopelessly discouraged by these model guys that know what they're doing. Mine were always glue bombs.

It's early morning at the minute and I've only had two coffees so this could be genius or idiocy but hoe cool would this be if it was in a fishtank with a diorama and filled with mineral oil?

I like this one a lot,Boyd! I was mesmerized by the launching missile.:-) Did you you use your trusty German made automotive paints on this one? I think that I may give those a try on the up coming 1/350 gray lady this time around...

Did mine without the missile effect. Put it inside the launch tube with a bracket like you made and back lit it. Reason? It looks weird. My wife and daughter asked me "what the hell this weiner looking thing coming out of the top" was. If they can't identify it as non objective observers, than I guess no one can. I had to suspend disbelief a bit myself to visualize it as a missile plume. Perhaps if there was a way to make sea foam and or a more smoky look? I don't know.
