These words, this music and the performance are a joy and an inspiration. The work of Christmas is indeed a 24/7 365 challenge. We must meet the call to find and comfort those who are broken, experiencing hunger, dealing with homelessness, or locked in some sort of prison of actual or metaphorical walls. Doing so helps rebuild our tattered and divided nations and will bring true peace among of all. And of all of this, there is beautiful music to light the way. God bless all those who hear these words and music. Answer the call.
Kim did such a really good job with this piece. Our choir and orchestra (Minnesota Saints Chorale and Orchestra) just got done doing this song for our concert for 2021 December 10th. And I love the lyrics. I am a tenor and I had a hard time finishing the piece because of how beautiful it is I was in tears 😥. This is definitely one of my all time favorites. Kim you are amazing.
It's February, and I just came upon this hymn/poem by Thurman. Why didn't I find it during Christmas season? Why did I miss this sentiment last Christmas? It doesn't matter. I can light candles tonight and carry on what I should have done earlier. It's never too late to light candles or to heal what's broken. Thank you Howard Thurman...
What a wonderful performance. I am having a blast.. How soothing, how Angelic, how amazing... keep listening to this piece whenever I am with myself... Praise be to God
Have been listening to this non-stop since the St. Olaf Christmas Festival. A breath-taking piece with beautiful sounds from the choir and orchestra. Congrats also to the oboe player.
How do 250 singers look and sound like angels. I just returned from Norway, and missed your concert tour. Anton, this is angelic and Arnesen is truly gifted. LOVED the oboe! thank you!
It is not done for show. It is a technique, which, along with holding hands to feel a connection with your fellow choir members, is done to help the musicians feel the ebb and flow and rhythm of the music. The several choirs I listen to that employ these techniques render some of the most outstanding performances that I have ever heard. They go beyond mere technical precision to actually interpret the music and give it shape and life. I am sorry that you find it distracting.
Particularly appropriate for Christmas this year (2024). I just cried singing it in rehearsal tonight.

I love how the choir is moving like a candle- beautiful vocals and song. Well done!
There is a reason for the swaying, but I can't remember what it is! I'm sure others will enlighten us.
I listen to this whenever I need it. Year round.
All of the musicians in this performance are terrific.
Das beste Weihnachtslied, was ich geh gehört habe❤❤❤. Tolle Performance, i love it. Ihr seid grossartig. Gänsehaut pur😍
Incredibly beautiful! We played this at our Christmas concert last year (2023).

****Your boss, best reading and u guys following ever
A lovely piece - but why do American choirs sway so much - terribly offputting to watch!
