Fun fact, Fran is only her name in the subtitles because the Japanese dont really have the L sound and it sounds like an R. but the last episode shows her name comes from her parents names put together Flamia and Kinan. I wouldn't be surprised if the english dub calls her Flan.

The sword reminds me of Need from the Valdemar series. A sentient sword with the spirit of a woman trapped inside. She could teach her wielders magic and take control of them. It wasn't until later books that she talks and you learn her back story.
Edit: also her last known wielder was a girl that was part cat that was trained in magic and life skills by her.

When she was awake she could teach swordsmanship and magic. Hard to know if any of the ladies she attached herself to wanted to learn to be a blacksmith too. Of course the best part about Need is that she is the oldest being in the entire series that isn't a god.

honestly the one anime I waited a year to come out and knew I would love . it is so good I have been watching anime since 1999 and know what I like this is one of those you know it going to be so damn good anime you see every 5 years or so and I was not disappointed . great story line excellent artists and great voice actors I love this and hope we get a season 2 but the sad part is it didn't do as good in Japan as it did here so the chances of a second season are slim at best . the only other anime I loved this much from 2022 was So I'm a spider, so what? and it's good for it's own reasons

If i remember correctly, the skill steal has a cool down of 30 days, and a low chance of working at its current level. So being successful the first time its used, plot armour of course.
at level 1 it had a 30% chance of success and a 2 day cooldown. They maxed leveled it. At level 10 it has a 100% chance of success and a 18 day cooldown.
