My boyfriend and I loved lana so much, he unfortunately passed away last January 13. I'm still so in love with him and it'll stay that way forever, we never got to see lana live together. This performance is a tearjerker.
she struggles alot with stage fright so this was really impressive, she's starts off a little shaky but she really comes into it by the end, so beautiful.
It's also kind of hard to replicate studio versions because we try to deny it but a lot of artists will "tune" their voice I think it's tune. But yeah they do stuff with their voice and if not they will keep recording until they get a version they like which can be hard to replicate
The best Lana performances to watch are just like this one. Not hearing the crowd, and the instrumentals aren't drowning her out like so many of her concerts. She does so well in quieter settings, whether they are more professional setups, or just involving a smaller crowd. We need more like this. The goddess herself.
@@MrAsyo1 Maybe the piano brings out the sadness in the lyrics which you prefer but imo the production in the recorderd version matches the song way better. The vintage instrumentation and the storylike nature of the song make it sound like its a passage through time, and it mirrors the lyrics when the instrumentals 'disappear' in the chorus, and when it builds up to the climax, it emphasises the lyrics about the hope for a fulfilled future where Lana can be content with her place in the world (which will never disappear). Idk I think at this rate its too easy for her to just put put out a ballad because everyone will eat that up regardless of the quality, so I appreciate the decision to make the song upbeat.
@@Oudri125 "I won't forgive Lana for changing "This is how THEY dissapear'" from the Live ver. for "This is how to dissapear'" on the second verse. Also, the phrasing of "I'm always going to be right here, no one's going anywhere" sounds off. The fact that the song doesn't end after the last lyrics damages it too." Copypaated from Reddit. The song could at least include a piano at any point, just like 'The greatest'. Oh, and cancel those Christmas bells.
@@MrAsyo1 No one apologised in the first place so who are you/the Redditor you copied this from to 'forgive' Lana 💀 and the sleigh bells are used in a lot of old school music which as you know Lana takes inspiration from, for example the Beach Boys 'God Only Knows' uses it as percussion too (and she even references them in The Greatest...). The rest of the critique you mentioned, like nitpicking on using 'they' instead of 'to' in the second chorus, just sounds pedantic. No one has a problem with you for preferring the acoustic version but when you disrespect someone else's opinion by telling them "no this version is superior", then that's where some people would take issue.

There was already plenty piano ballads, we didn’t need another. The production is pretty unique and i enjoy how the lyrics provide an unexpected contrast to it.
This versiones makes me imagine a couple who haven't seen each other for a long time, buy now they are having dinner in a fancy restaurant and one of them is sad, so the other one offers his shoulder to cry. Studio version makes me imagine someone very sad too, who is walking near a bar, where bumps into an old friend, but in the city. Like finding peace and help despite all the chaos of the cars and drinks and lights and mess

For the things that they hold dear
To forget the things they fear

And I've got a kid and two cats in the yard

And I watched the skies getting light as I write
As I think about those years
And I whisper in your ear
