  • Trying to install a non-pressurized basket for double shot (14g dose) into Delonghi Dedica EC685. Swapping the basket in native portafilter.
For this I just unscrewed the plastic part inside and removed it. That way our new basket will fit. The hole from the screw doesn't seem to have any drips from while brewing. So it works fine. I didn't experience any holder movement during the shots.
Conclusion: It's easy to upgrade your delonghi dedica from pressurized basket to a normal one. There is no need to upgrade the portafilter.

IMS basket fixed the slippage issue for me. It has a curve at the top (lip) and that creates more friction.
If you ever order one, I recommend getting the regular one, not Hugh. Hugh basket is high flow and gives you higher extraction, you can also put a filter on the bottom. The regular narrows a bit to the bottom, and that decreases channeling and you will get more consistent easier to dial in shots. I prefer how the regular tastes. But both of them are so much better than what you usually get as a bonus for a bottomless holder

I wonder if the spring is also playing a part. Because it surely is way more powerful on the original portafilter. Thanks for all of the input!)
