just to clarify UG's view. he's saying "at some point humans realized this abstract concept of "self consciousness" (as a survival instinct) . and ever since we have felt separated and isolated from nature (our environment/the world) and ever since this "tragedy" we've been striving for reintegration ie (oneness, wholeness, peace, serenity, enlightenment) and this striving or "search" perpetuates the division/separation/misery we are trying to mend. which is why he say's to just accept yourself they way you are. as is. no goals, no seeking, "live in misery and die in misery" "finished". :)
