So glad to have you come on so I can watch something normal. Well, more normal than the rest of my life. I live in California in Sonoma County near enough to the Glass Fire to get all the smoke and ash. Already had a fire on the west side of where I live and now this fire on the east side of where I live. Plus smoke from the fire to the north. So, besides the coronavirus quarantine there's the smoke that makes me stay inside. I would just love to go for a walk in some clean air. But, what do I get? ALEX! YAY! Thank you for putting up such wonderful videos to help us get our minds off this crazy world and back to normal. I love watching your picks and it was great to see Josh with you.

The certificate you're holding at 12:00 reads (in German) : Czechoslovak Republic matriculation certificate - We, rector and dean of the medical faculty of the German University in Prag herewith notarize... Can't make out the year, but since it's in German it must be pre-war, maybe 1920s-30s. Always fascinating to see something like this turn up in a garage in Alberta, Canada 100 years later. Keep up the picking, Alex!

Hey, Alex...I noticed an old Steeleye Span record near the front of the box. It’s title is “Below the Salt”. They’re an old British/Irish folk group who covered fabulous old ballads and songs from old Britain, Ireland, Scotland, etc. Awesome music, and great voices. They did songs about everyday life in the15th century ...lol. You know, the plague, robbers, loves lost, minstrel tunes...I actually have this record, and I recommend it highly. Good for a listen.

Love these picking videos. Its to bad more people are not interested in being on film. I hope you can film some of your searching through the big box of 45’s. I remember in the 60’s saving my allowance and begging a ride to the record store on the weekends to get my current favorite hit single. I had to wait for my first real job in the 70’s before I could afford albums. I only made 1.65 an hour at a fish and chips takeout and Levis were a very expensive 6.00 a pair. I think you should have kept your juke box.

That Manhattan Transfer album was produced by Jay Graydon, who played the famous guitar solo on Peg by Steely Dan (as well as producing Canadian Yacht Rock legend, Marc Jordan). The track Spice Of Life was written by Rod Temperton who wrote many tracks on Thriller (including Thriller itself) and Off the Wall. My theory is that the track was a leftover from Off The Wall that never got recorded by Jackson.

I heard of an empty Hornby Train Set Box that sold in 2006 for UK£3,600. Trix are rare to find in such good nick, with the original box and accessories too! Oh, the LP's! That Eddie Cochrane single may be very desirable. The 45's did look like they'd come out of a juke-box maybe. Nice one Alex and regards to the Schwartz Family there. Glad to see you're all keeping well. Cheers!

Josh can make some beautiful hall stands and lay a piece of marble on the top. They are the perfect size.

Some good finds in there for you both. Handling mouse droppings acquires safety mask and gloves. Hanta virus is an issue to take seriously! Please be careful.

Absolutely agree. Should always be wearing those masks with a vent when dealing with mouse poop. Hanta virus is not a joke.

I‘d love those vintage knitting/sewing/craft patterns, shame I‘m prohibitively far away!!
And the LPs, sheesh, I still have (and love!) some of those - Toys in the Attic, Barclay James Harvest, REO Speedwagon, Level 42... nostalgia...!!
    Only now I feel old, I‘m only 55 😱

I kept thinking of the Wizard of Oz line, whenever you would say , "Oh, an oil can" I would shout to you "Oil can what?"

Great video up to the point that you criticized my “Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66” album. 🤣 Yes, I have an original I bought new back in the 60s along with my all my Beatles and Rollings Stones albums in my living room. Lots of great finds that you brought home. You should have offered Josh any album of his choosing in trade for the heart-shaped lighter. Always a treat to see Josh in your vlogs.

Nice Haul. There's some cool LP's in that box, but Come on Alex! Myself, as a record collector, you really need to do more research on music. Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 isn't bad music & still quite popular (although a bit mellow.) They were signed by Herb Albert & recorded some great songs, also the Edgar Winter you pointed out was Johnny Winter. lol. Kidding aside, that first record LAZARUS by The Rugsby's is a pretty rare psych LP & may be worth some money, but if you'll take the sticker price of $2.99 I'll take it NOW!

It's actually Herb Alpert, not Albert.

Mix a nice cocktail, sit back and relax and allow the gentle Bossa Nova sound of Brazil 66 sooth your very soul. Honestly, listen to their albums. Avoid Brasil 77 and beyond, but definitely look for Sergio Mendes, pre Brazil 66.
