Best MOBA by far: amazing hero design, team xp (which encourages teamplay), fun side objectives, superb and varied maps, short games (no games that drag for 1h), and a possibility to come back from a bad start if the team works together really well Such a shame that the game never blew up
Biggest problem with this game was always the lack of snowball and player expression. Being somebody who really loves dota and always plays solo, I just never got into this game because of that.
No, team XP is really what holds this game back... There is just no way to ever have a match where the best player can truly carry and that is just a big L.
@@Chubbajawa except it doesn't really work that well. @@kiloneie I would not describe the turrets having ammo as "casual". I think it rewards methodical and efficient play, like clearing your wave 10% faster with a burst of structure damage after 2 minutes. In fact, it being one more thing you have to take into account macro-wise or you lose a fort out of nowhere feels the opposite of casual.
@@marcocapitani4474 Well i wasn't describing them as "casual", that's what Blizzard advertised the game as. Maybe the game is a bit more casual, but really all of those features were just great quality of life features. No i don't want to spend ages learning to last hit, when that means learning all the projectile speeds on ranged champions, when the damage will be enough to kill one, the items modifying that... that is literally hundreds to thousands of hours to properly learn that in such a way that it ceases to be a problem. But when you can't do that well, you can't do anything else well, because it's taking just so much of your focus away from NOT getting ganked, actually playing the game for fun as in fighting and winning etc. And they decided to erode such features(not last hitting, that they improved further, by making it less punishing to miss collecting exp there). The game is actually more hardcore than league and dota2 is. It demands to be constantly moving around and skill shotting, positioning etc. While in those 2x games, that is FAR reduced, because grind your ass last hitting/micro managing minions and their gold income -> mundane non sense everyone has at work already. But they don't know it, because they suck and never gave the game a chance because Blizzard advertised it horribly and then instead of improving it, worsened it. TL DR The game is probably more hardcore than any other MOBA out there, but you can't tell because that is NOT how it was advertised, which was terrible and not enough people played, or cared after shuting down the forced esport of players that were hired to play pro, instead of players loving the game, then going pro. That esport had no life, and so the game rapidly declined after that forced nonsense was removed. The game would of been just fine if they didn't say they won't support the game like they did, and if the esport was actually organic and not forced.
Removing the turret ammo is actually a nerf in disguise. It used to be that waves upon waves would pile up on depleted towers, making it easy to reap their xp infrequently. But now that the towers don't ruin out of ammo, they can waste all that xp before a player can get to it. This means lanes have to be managed more frequently and it's not all about immediately brawling in the middle.
I feel that. People called it the 'Smash Bros of mobas' partially jokingly, but Smash is popular partially because it just does things other fighters don't and is more enjoyable to some for that, so yeah, I think it's got that Smash spirit.

Yeah, I much prefer HotS. In Dota and League low levels you have 1 skill, and mana is very limited. So you're not expected to use your abilities on minions or towers. In heroes, you can throw out all of your abilities a couple times before you run out, there's still that pressure to be sparing with your abilities, but it's not so restricted. In heroes you can carry as a support, not by being overleveled and over farmed but by being more skillful. I would argue there's higher opportunity for more fun skill expression.
I would solo lane vikings. Totally doable against most heroes. To me the RTS experience is all about positioning, and prioritizing. Vikings just go heavy on the positioning aspect of micro, like I did with my Zergling heavy starcraft play. Positioning your body aggressively so you can soak experience while objectives are going on and maximize locust timer. Last hitting may not usually be necessary, but there's still some aspect of it. Certain character talents benefit from it, and last hitting can remove the need to physically go get XP orbs which can make rotations quicker or make laning safer.

The idea with talents like greed vs gluttony is that azmodan is already a monster with pushing lanes, so the idea is focusing on getting stacks from enemy heroes as well as improving your damage to them will allow azmo to have a big impact on teamfights as well, and won't fall behind on stacks by participating. He does this so well in fact that he is arguably the most broken hero in ARAM, where he is able to constantly farm stacks from and heavily damage the whole enemy team.

hots has the best kit design of every MOBA and its not even close
Every second game I played of this at least one of my teammates would go full tilt then just throw. Uninstalling this game was the best mental health move I have made in years
How did he only get cursed hollow? Is that a "welcome back" training thing, or dumb luck?
The former. Putting newbies on the closest thing to Summoner's Rift so they don't get overwhelmed by the 14 or so fundamentally different battlegrounds.
Demon Lt. is global and can soak exp, so you can join your teammates when they need you. 😅
I like that even HotS has a better client than League 😅
When I saw Hots I thought he meant Heart of the swarm at first lol.
love ya day9. love Hots too
Absolutely love Hots. Unfortunately I can't support Blizz anymore :(
I haven't supported blizzard since diablo 3 released.
yet I play this game on and off every year.
blizzard doesn't support hots so I don't see me playing their only good game since starcraft 2 to be a support of blizzard, more of a spite really 🤣
Watched it live, loved it! What a great game
HOTS LETS GO!
Had to re-download. Havent played this in years
Wooo lets go
What aboot Day9 going through his most favorite funday monday videos and maybe talking about the SC2 scene that was taking place during the time those videos were recorded?
Something like that?
Pretty please?
I do not Miss waiting 20 minutes to load into a lobby to have somebody drop out immediately
i sometimes wonder what wonderful things would hots have released if not for it being stalled this way
Dude we still have a group of 4 guys that runs HOTS once every week. In the year of our lord 2024, haha.
Envious.
None of my friends played it for long, so I kind of fell away when they announced they were done with new content.
It was very fun
Phantom Lancer is SO cool, man.
Love HOTS!
I should spend some time in hots, I have been playing a ton of League and could use a more low key experience.
1:10:45 god damn that game was intense
The nostalgia thooo I remember slaughtering teams game after game with bullshit Nova and the stealth assassin dude with the stasis ultimate XD
Master of Destruction - op to clear waves and gain stacks.
Asmongold introduced me to your channel and im ever so glad he did! Very pleasurable stream/vid
Can we get a world where Starcraft, Diablo, Warcraft, Hots and hearthstone were still as popular as they were when they came out?
God i love(d) jumping around with orphea...
Heroes is still a banger, loving the wow and heroes content
Perfect timing! I need a new MOBA after LoL forced us to install Vanguard.
Hots is soo fun.
Sub'd for hots content, love watching people come back to this game
The idea with talents like greed vs gluttony is that azmodan is already a monster with pushing lanes, so the idea is focusing on getting stacks from enemy heroes as well as improving your damage to them will allow azmo to have a big impact on teamfights as well, and won't fall behind on stacks by participating.
He does this so well in fact that he is arguably the most broken hero in ARAM, where he is able to constantly farm stacks from and heavily damage the whole enemy team.
Welcome to Cursed Hollow
I have not played this game in years it still pains me to see how he never uses e when someone uses his CC and its in mele range
I love hots and I have been mad at blizzard ever since they dropped it.
Wait, didn’t Sean have a tough time w edibles where he couldn’t stop "wiggling"…?
This title is missleading. Hots is always Heart Of The Swarm and you know it. I want Day9 on SC2 again. 😢
Man, Hots wasnt as bad as the online perception was when it released.
I think it might have earned every bit of bad reception. It is a good game now but keep in mind that you had to essentially buy talents with money back then.
Simultaneously love and hate this game.
More of this!!!
First game, team sucks, day9 gets their teams only kill at like ten minutes.
It’s like I never stopped playing.
