Not sure if its intentional, but I love how Mega Porygon Z seems to be a nod to the Pokemon Red and Blue glitchmons (Context, in the original pokemon games, there are glitchmons. A lot of which has a new type called a "glitch type," which gives it no weaknesses, but no resists either.)
@@MerryThiccmas in gen one it was a glitch type, if you did the glitch right and caught Missingno, then it would be the bird type. It has no weaknesses and no resistances if i remember. Correction: it wasn’t a glitch, but it was just cut mid production, and Missingno was a bird/normal type, so i think that Mega Porygon-Z would be a sick nod to that honestly
I’m just imagining a funny skit where a Mega Roadraptor is soaring through the air with a trainer on its back, and the Mega Evolution runs out and dissipates midair, and they both look down, dumbfounded, before falling. Like a Wile E. Coyote skit.

To be honest, the megas I'm hoping for the most are for the starters. My biggest gripe with X and Y is that the starters didn't get megas. They are supposed to be your partner, why not give them a cool new form.
Particularly egregious since Alola and Galar got the memo and gave their starters access to the fun. I doubt Paldea's starters will get unique Terastal forms like Ogerpon did, but it is simply a bonus in my eyes anyways.

Mega Frizzard and Mega Porygon-Z where sick. Mega Frizzard had that body-language to where it looks slow and tanky, but hits like a truck. If it was animated it would fight brutishly and recklessly, I’m sure it would go up and slug someone, then shoot a point blank ice-beam.
I don't think anyone will complain about new Mazah Content. These Megas are amazing. Makes me really nostalgic and a bit said, since there probably wont be new official Megas. Congrats to the winners!

Lets gooo!!! I'm really happy the video is finally here, all the designs are so clean. Honestly tho, the devs and Flareblitz contributed the most in the Roadraptor colab, I'm happy to be a part of it so thanks ya guys. So it's been a while since you posted this video, when is part 2 coming out? And when do we get a look at the other gym leaders and other important characters? Since Valentina's first appearance back in October 2020 I wanted to see the rest of the gym leaders have videos where you draw and explain about them, but there hasn't been anything and I would like to know when is it possible to see more characters in the future.
The laguna mega is perfect, the transition of the evo line is very natural. I went through the mega submissions and i would love to see you illustrate the jumpluff (bandersnatch) mega or any macrabra mega.

I gotta say, I love mega laguna's design so much I love cute looking pokemon of course, and I already liked the laguna line, but not enough to plan on using it when I play the game but now? This thing will be in my team no matter what!! It's so adorable and so powerful looking and I just love it so much
I think Mega Ledian should have an ability that gives priority to punch attacks when low on hp, to increase the Shonen Hero aspect of it, maybe as a secret ability or something. Game Freak really missed the potential for Ledian in Sword and Shield, it should have had a Gigantimax form that referenced Ultraman, the character the pokemon was inspired by.
@@animefan25 oh, I can see it! Still, I think there is some reference to Ultraman there, considering so many early gen pokemon are based on the series, and Game Freak isn't afraid to combine references, I wouldn't be surprised if it was based on both.
These are so amazing! Love the collaborations and can't wait to see more from this series, props to everyone. All these designs are so great it's hard to choose a favorite but mega Roadraptor for me sells that fantasy of mega evolutions for me.

I’ve had an idea for mega pyukumuku where he gets more back spikes to change the base design a bit with a more angry expression and he has an entire human sized boxer coming out of his mouth made of the white innards
It's awesome that you're learning 3D! It can be daunting at first for 2D artists, but it's a really nice skill to have and can help streamline the illustration process, say, modelling something real quick to put it in perspective If you're considering to continue learning 3D, I'd honestly give my recommendation to Blender over Maya. They are both quite similar and in the end get the job done, but Blender's toolset is much wider and more useful for hobbyists, whereas Maya is optimised as an industry modelling tool and as _modelling tool_ only. Sculpting and rendering are best done with programs other than Maya, whereas Blender has good enough functionality built-in. That's not to say that experience in Maya is useless, as you're still getting experience in 3D modelling which applies to any 3D modelling software. However, at some point you'll really start to feel the limitations of the program you're working with, at which point the differences between the two start to stand out.
This contest was really great, it was fun to draw these, and I even won. Thank you for holding this contest, also yokaiju version of what I drew was amazing. ( air conditioning dragon go pew )
I love these so much! The two lizards are definitely my favorites, the mons really needed some more appreciation! But each one deserved the spotlight, Laguna is INSANE, was in my top picks from the megas as well, really good job to everyone!
I like how the Pokedex descriptions mix the power of the xy/oras descriptions, and the description of how these forms are dangerous when extended from Sun and Moon

Will say, Mega Frizzard looks smaller than normal Frizzard. I think this disparity is literally just the pose for me. I do love how Mega Frizzard just looks like Gigalith or Coalossal (aka Galarian Golem). It fits in well with established design ideas for Pokémon, while putting its ow spin on things. It looks like it could’ve existed in Gen 4
Mega Laguna is soooo good!! I love the way the tail looks both like a full moon and a big fluffy snowball. It really delivers on the theme of the Laguna line _and_ the ice type
Frizzard and Zarcoil really came around on me when I realized they're built like Megaman Mavericks/Net Navis and the megas play into it that aspect expertly
Those are brill! Not a day goes by that I don't feel like Game Freak wasted the potential of Mega Evolution in picking pokémon that absolutely didn't need it instead of making forgotten pokémon more viable. That could have been some love for Smeargle, Sunflora, Ledian, Volbeat, Unown, etc, etc. Oh well.
mega ledian is probably my favorite..its always been one of my favorite bug pokemon, and pokemon from gen 2. as for a mega, if it hasnt gotten one already..tropius. another favorite of mine

Mega Ledian is exactly what a mega for Ledian should be - adding the fighting type, leaning in to the whole Super Sentai motif , emphasize the star patterns, and give it stats to make it actually usable. *Perfection*
Glad to see the mazag region again, would love to see more of the non-pokemon aspect, official (jack drawings) of the dev teams gym leaders trainers rivals or a map update
Mega frizzard just looks insane. I think it’s hands bothered me the most. I really liked the details added. The moon rabbit is hands down my fav. Unlike the others it feels like looks similar enough to be a mega. I like the ledian design but it looks different enough to be a new third evo
I actually tend to dislike the overdesigned nature and potentially problematic gameplay of the official Megas. However, taking more niche or weaker Pokémon and giving them upgrades, as with Mega Beedril, is a lot more exciting to me. These showcased designs capture that same feeling. Great job everyone!

I know it would be weird if potassopod had a mega but it would be cool if it made use of a Pokémon like Dhelmise at the same time, kind of like a shipwreck

Personally, while Frizzard and Zarcoil aren't my personal taste, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. They look genuinely like pokemon one would rarely find out in a desert area. The megas are absolutely amazing and a huge kudos to Yokaiju (Hope that's correct) to the designs.

Man I wish I knew about this contest, I guess I can only hope someone else did my idea. I'd love to see another mega for Atelangler like charizard has an X and Y form. I just like the idea of an old Atelangler who never caught the Golden Scale so goes out every day on their (banana boat) using it's sugarcane as a paddle to relentlessly chance down Nanahi.

Mega Roadraptor reminds me of the Savacou, a lightning bird from Taino mythology

I do really like the dolphin-like tail in the original Porygon design! It's lost in the final rendering but it looks great nonetheless!

Man I wish I knew about this contest, I guess I can only hope someone else did my idea. I'd love to see another mega for Atelangler like charizard has an X and Y form. I just like the idea of an old Atelangler who never caught the Golden Scale so goes out every day on their (banana boat) using it's sugarcane as a paddle to relentlessly chance down Nanahi.
