Hello Martin , I'm glad to see you, that you're happy again, and Greece must be beautiful, so lots of sun and wind in your sails, have fun sailing and congratulations on your new yacht. Best regards, Robert.
Hi Martin, looks like you are getting on very well with the new Amel, a big boat to single hand. As for a free lifeboat, you should have a solid gold medal for your survival story! 😅 another great video.
Thank you very much! Yes, for that size it is really easy handling even for the solo sailor. We are having great fun with our new boat. Best regards 😀⛵⛵
Great initiative of Plastimo. I’m using their equipments too and after I’ve heard this campaign I’ll be incentivized more to stay with them. I’m really glad to see you back in full operation. Looking forward to read your second book when ready. Take care
I am happy to see that you are already running the boat with all its sails without any problems. Congratulations on that. You seem to be adapting very well to the new style of sailing imposed by the differences with what you were used to before. How is it to carry two masts? Does it get complicated when you go alone? Beautiful trip, the Greek islands are wonderful, I hope to sail at least some of them someday. Best regards
Thank you very much! It is just a small sail more, which will be reefed last when the wind is picking up. I really like the ketch type with 2 masts. The rigg of the Amel is very strong and oversized, which gives more safety. In the next video we will introduce the boat, do a room tour and show the technical details. Best regards 😀⛵️🇬🇷
@@mjambo697 You're the only person I know whose sailed both a sloop and a ketch... Do you have enough time with the ketch to say if you'd prefer the ketch over the sloop? You have a brave heart to be doing all that sailing alone.
I wanted a ketch as the normal sails area is distributed over 3 sails. I think she runs more stable. But it is difficult to compare as Jambo was a rather small boat and on this larger boat other factors contribute to that as well. 😀⛵️
@@mjambo697 Thanks for your comments. You're transitioning between the two and have both fresh in your mind. I have a Nauticat 44 ketch but haven't been able to sail it much due to refitting it. My re-rigging basically cost me twice as much as a sloop would have cost, so there's a cost negative to them. But if you're trying to save money, a boat isn't the best thing to buy. I'm looking forward to hearing about how you like your boat. I know Delos has an Atmel, but I don't care to watch them. You're personality is far more to my liking. Fair winds.
I forgot that I should not mention the length of chain because whatever you do there is always someone questioning how you anchor: too much chain or not enough etc.
@@mjambo697 actually I was asking in a way to learn something myself. I can only imagine that so much chain length wouldn't show much seamanship in a crowded anchorage, which I don't even know if it was the case. Otherwise, apologies if I bothered you.

It’s so strange to see you in a big boat. Great upgrade. Impressive solo med mooring especially on a new boat.
Happy sailing.

40m of chain in 5m depth?? Why so much, apparently without any wind?

No worriers! If space is available I like to put out more chain because the wind can pick up and then it’s safer. Best regards
