You might have just sold me on buying the pocket 3. No one, NO ONE… has mentioned that you can monitor the video from the iPhone. I do hiking trail videos along with US state and national park overviews. I shoot while in the park and in the trail along with one other companion. I use the new ride pro mics and the new DJI 2 mics for wireless ease as trail conditions are sometimes too much with a shotgun mic or mic with lav. Seeing this in the go out in the middle of no where is spectacular. I hope there is more shown on this unique experience ❤
The P3 is a fantastic little camera. And one of my next video next week is for a selfie drone that controls itself. I know it sounds nuts but it is insane, no controller involved and max altitude of 15m but primarely designed for tracking someone while they talk to camera or do an activity outdoors. Might want to wait for that video too in case that ticks more boxes... Thanks for the feedback!
Hey Samuel. Thanks for putting this together. Ive been looking for a selfie stick / Extender like one they had For Pocket/Pocket 2 with a phone clamp to have my phone as a monitor. 2" screen is much better, and it's okay for framing, but I would prefer my ohone. Ae Are there any out there yet? If i get a stick with Tripod or Pocket 3 extender with action camera mount for pocket 3, can yiu recommend a mount or seup? You do the best coverage for this gear! Thanks!
@SamuelSotiega I still have the DJI Brand stick for Pocket 2 - but no longer have the camera, just the Pocket 3. That stuck has a connector for the P2, not a Tripod or Action Camera mount that I can adapt to OP3. I have a few pieces on order, a stick w/phone mount, and Action canera head, and an adapter for Pocket 3, that SHOULD work. I was hoping to find a full solution from one vendor. Smatree has a Power stick, but the phone mount and Pocket mount only fit the 2. With the P3, it just sits on the stick, no angle, no phone. Ideas?
There's so many great tips in such a short time that I will have to watch it again three or four times to make sure I remember them! But I don't think you will mind me doing that... :)
Trust me, I won't! I am also doing a New Year giveaway for some of the gear that I have double, or I don't use. It is pointless to hoarding equipment when people who watch my videos can take advantage and it won't cost them anything... Stay tuned over the coming days!
Hi the tip with the white balance and exposure do we have to do it every time we are about to record? So the next day when we do a new video we need to do again the same trick depending on the weather? Thank you
Not every shot. If the weather circumstances change, you need to do it. It is not the same sunny than cloudy. Early morning than midday or late afternoon. If you film outdoor or suddenly move under a bridge. You need to decide when to do it. If you do a few shots under similar conditions, you don't need to do it. For instance. Bright sunny day, not a cloud in the sky, you can probably go for hours with the initial white balance setting. Sun suddenly hides behind a cloud, the color temperature is going to change, you need to adjust white balance. I hope I am making sense...
Can you elaborate on that lavalier mic? What kind of mic are you using that can be stuck on the inside of a T-Shirt? Also, how do you connect the lavalier mic to the Pocket-3? Thank you!
My next video is exactly about that subject. Sound recording. But the lic is a voice technologies VT500, it is a bit pricey though… but my next video I show you how I do it and what I use with different mics, indoors and outdoors…
Se puede conectar la P3 at iPhone, de ahí a un monitor… it is a messy set up though.. you could use an iPad though via the mimo app, that might be a better option… .
Hi Samuel. "Thank you so much for the fantastic content in your video! I really value your expertise. As a passionate videographer, audio monitoring is crucial for me. I've been exploring ways to connect either the DJI Pocket 3 or DJI Mic to my bone conduction headphones via Bluetooth. While I know we can connect via USB-C directly to the Pocket 3, I'm eager to find a wireless solution. I've reached out to various TH-camrs and even discussed it on the DJI forum, but unfortunately, I haven't found a solution yet. I've even tried using a Bluetooth adapter with a 3.5mm jack connected to my DJI 2X receiver, but my Bluetooth headset isn't being recognized. I'm hopeful that you might have some insights or tips on making this wireless connection. Your assistance would be incredibly valuable to me! Thank you so much for your time and expertise!"
This is also one of the shortcoming of the Pocket 3 that I share with you. The lack of audio monitoring. It is a real bummer, yes. I have tried a set of hollyland lark max and I can monitor the audio on the receiver, but going into the pocket 3, i would like to have the sertainty of what is actually coming in, for safety. I really wish they had kept the 3.5mm mini jack, that is a terrible feature to drop....
The camera gives you a bit of shallow depth of field, but if you want more, you can easily and very quickly do it in DaVinci Resolve creating 2 serial noses, one with a depth map effect and the second one with a lens blue effect. You link them and you can choose how much or little you want. Set the quality of the depth map from better to fast so you get real time preview, and off.you go
