You're the only content creator on TH-cam who's ads I watch through entirely, hoping that it provides more income for you. I just love your channel so much and watch every single video of yours. I know I don't comment as much but just know I try to support as much as possible. Thank you for all you do for us!
Glad you liked it as much as you did!!! I’ve got a one sentence review from this movie ( that I LOVED , and was blown away by ), “oh, we go waaaaaaaay back” . That line was AWESOME!!! I went back the next night, and saw it again… haven’t done that in YEARS.
I also got Ghost Watch impressions the first time I heard of this movie, and will watch it soon. You are the second reviewer I like that has said she loved the movie, so I am REALLY looking forward to it.
Your description of the movie is everything I want Late Night to be and your enthusiasm is infectious . I've been waiting to see it since it was stuck in the festival circuit .
This was one of my most anticipated movies of the year so I'm happy to hear it's spooky fun, which i absolutely love. Great review i can't wait to watch it!!!
I noticed that this was playing at the big Universal Orlando Resort cinema while on vacation and was super excited to watch it, but we didn’t have the time, so I’ll definitely stream it on my TV late at night this month with the lights off and some popcorn ❤️ Anything with old tv stylization combined with the occult has my viewership lol
I think it is premature to say this movie is the best horror of 2024; it's only March! With that said, LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL has the making of a modern day classic. Saw it last weekend and enjoyed every minute of it.
So happy to hear that you loved the film, Emma. I gave it a score of 8/10. I've been telling my friends that the film is like a "carnival dark ride". You know what you are getting into and how it may end, but there are plenty of scares and wondering how intense the ride will get. The setting just added to the Halloween eeriness.
I saw it during a horror festival back in October at 11:30 at night. Absolutely loved it mostly because how well it absolutely nailed that 70s aesthetic.
We went to a screening last night over here in Melbourne and, my god, I couldn't keep my eyes away from the screen. So well done. I did read up on the AI controversy afterwards and was a little disappointed on that, but otherwise I thought it was one of the best horror experiences I've had in a cinema!
Very excited to see this next month when it's on streaming. I feel like a lot of horror reviewers were mixed on it, so it was interesting to hear what you liked.
Loved your review! I saw this last night and just loved that is so different in a refreshing way for a horror film. Also the way they combined the funny ha-ha moments with something very sinister and scary. Bravo
I remember watching Ghostwatch live when it was broadcast on the tv. Scared me silly as a kid, and so much outrage from people who didn’t realise it was a horror drama..
I’m so glad you loved it, I did too! It was such a good fkn movie, I seriously can’t get over how in love with it I am. My favorite since Hereditary. I give it a 9 all around aside from originality, which I’d give an 8. Edit: I HIGHLY recommend this at the theatre, it was the best experience I’ve had in so long. And the people in the audience were so engaged and movie lovers, I can tell! Someone muttered to their partner, “Make sure to turn your phone off.” It just made me feel like a kid again. The pandemic ruined four years of my youth and childhood and both Late Night With the Devil and Beau is Afraid took me back to the simpler times when everyone just wanted to go enjoy a GOOD MOVIE. 🍿❤
Same page! Such a breath of fresh air. Total 9/10. I get seeing it in theaters but it certainly also worked at home in the dark. He pointed at the screen and said he was doing the show just for me, the viewer. This movie crushes so hard oh my god.
I’m English and watched Ghostwatch “live’” when it aired. 9 year old me was scared shitless and thought it was real. LNWTD reminded me of it big time. Fun film. Enjoyed it
I heard about this movie ages ago, I’m so excited that it’s about to come out. I think it comes out here in Australia next week and I’ll be definitely seeing it 👍🏼
Great review, I loved this movie so much. Really glad I didn't know about the AI situation until AFTER I saw it, because that would have been distracting. Some day a movie will abuse AI and we'll need to have this discussion, but I do NOT think this movie's crew did anything wrong. I thought David Dastmalchian and Ingrid Torelli were both brilliant in it. I'm glad I saw this in the theater, and when this drops on Shudder in a few weeks, I'm definitely going to watch it again.
I walked to the theater for this too. In the snow. It was at an Alamo Drafthouse so it was whisper quiet. Make sure you don't drink too much of anything before or you'll miss something important on bio breaks. Can't wait to rewatch on Shudder soon.
Great review! I really want to see it now. When you talked about the wonderful tonal shift between goofy/funny and really scary…it took me back to when I was 13 years old and caught An American Werewolf in London in a theater on its opening weekend. Walking into the theatre I had no idea what to expect…and I sure wasn’t expecting THAT! Still one of my favorite films.
I think this was a great film for all the reasons you stated. But I also think it's really important to not overlook the use of AI generated stills, no matter how inconsequential they were. It's not about if it was noticeable or not, it's about the horrible precedent it can set. That precedent being, "Let's not give a human the opportunity to express their creativity and instead use an algorithm." I just hope film makers grasp the severity of this going forward. That being said, I am looking forward to what is next from the directors!
Do you still use or watch films in 35mm? If not i guess you were ok with all the projectionist that lost their jobs when they made the switch. They have rock concerts with Avatars now.
I do understand it’s hard because this was an indie project but I do believe that hopefully with the backlash, maybe we can all learn something moving forward. Because of this some filmmakers may realise how audiences are standing against AI. Unfortunately it’s others mistakes that we can all learn from.
It was the production designer who experimented with AI for interstitials (2 years ago). An artist who was getting paid, used a tool to cut a corner but was transparent about this and although the producers liked the creepiness of what the AI coughed up, they still asked Tel Stolfo to modify and adapt the raw image. The dominant narrative that starving artists are being done out of work by AI is literally the opposite of what happened here.
I really liked this one! But it kind of felt like a VHS segment stretched into a feature length movie. I feel like it didn’t have entirely enough going on with its story. The “behind the scenes” moments were also a big let down for me as they weren’t behind the scenes at all, you have this camera all up in these characters faces talking about private stuff and they don’t acknowledge the camera at all. I wanted more of a found footage feel from them, and this movie sadly not a found footage movie. I’m definitely most saddened by the use of AI, it was such a small part and there’s no reason why they couldn’t have had a human make those assets. It’s a very slippery slope when it comes to this kind of stuff and I just don’t want this to become a common practice.
I loved the magnetic led performance from DD. It's a rare talent when someone can be silent and still so expressive and alluring. I loved many elements of this wacky and spoooooky film. A solid 8/10 from me.
I'm excited for this one, but all the showings are too late for me 😭 I think I'll have to save this one for streaming but know the format I think it'll still be super effective so I don't mind too much. So glad you rated it so highly though, I hope it lives up to the hype because I loved the look of the trailer!
I saw "Late Night With The Devil" last night and Emma we are definitely on the same page!!!! Visually stunning, so authentic to a 70's TV show. Build up was great and the scare moments were cool. I'm a huge fan of Ghostwatch but this was even better in my opinion, just seemed more believable, probably because it IS set in the 70's and the intro with the back-story about it being lost media just makes it all the more exciting to watch. The cast did an excellent job too! If not for the 5 moron's sitting in front of me talking on their mobiles I would've enjoyed it even more!! For me, this is my 2nd fave horror so far of 2024. I watched "Immaculate" a few hours before this (Horror Double Bill Time) and "Immaculate" creeped me out so much, totally up my street!!! That has to be the firm favourite so far of this amazing year for horror!!
One of the best original movies I've ever seen. It was just too good at really taking us back to the 1970s. The grainy 70s look, the voice, the acting, the costumes, the set design and everything was stellar. The end was a brain fuck, It didn't go the way I expected and atleast it was a surprise to me. I couldn't tell after a certain point how it was all going to end. The movie feels so incredibly fresh and its entertaining from start to finish. Great Job!
If the movie was categorized as a thriller, all these "it sucked it wasn't scary" folk wouldn't be talking. Folk really need cliche jumpscaresand blood so bad in this era.
I just watched it today in a cinema of 3 people total (me included lol) and I’m not really sure what I thought of it bc I’m not sure what I saw tbh. The actress who played Lily was the standout actor to me (besides Jack) and I wish her a phenomenal career bc she deserves it. Side note, something that always entertains me as an American is how easily actors in other countries can sound like us, but when we attempt their accents we sound just awful 💀 great video!
I agree with you on practically every count. The one thing that keeps this from being a near perfect film for me is that the conceit that we were watching the TV show broadcast on a documentary was dropped in the final minutes.
I really enjoyed it too. Not scary, but so much fun. I do want to see it at home too because of the way it's done. Are you going to revisit all the Omen films before the First Omen (it's out next Friday here in the UK).
A couple nights ago I went to the theater to watch both this and Immaculate. I loved this too. The actor who played the host is amazing, great casting. Handsome yet unique looking. Confident and charming but masking some desperation and insecurity. I wanna talk about that ending though!! 👀 it felt like a bit of a long build up to an abrupt 'wtf!?' end but then again that's what it would be like on an hour long late night talk show.
I absolutely loved this film, the style is beautiful and I think the actors all did a great job. I'm a sucker for anything cult/possession centred so I'm biased, and also love me some mockumentaries n I think anyone who enjoys those will love this, I said the same about Ghostwatch! It's just a fun watch, the little jokes here n there helped keep it light. I think the actress who played Lilly really nailed it and got the balance just right, definitely one of my faves of the year so far
Not as scary as I was expecting but I liked it. Reminded me of a long episode of The Twilight Zone. I get why there was narrative in the beginning but I think it could’ve been split up during intermission like a real documentary
this movie really captured that 70's late night vibe big time! i saw some missed opportunities for some more scares, quite a bit actually.....but the 70's vibe is absolutely dead on...love this film.
I’ve wanted to see this since the first poster dropped, going Sunday night. Can’t wait! Loved Ghostwatch ever since I was a kid, owned it on DVD and upgraded to the limited edition Blu-ray from 101 Films.
Fell asleep the first time i watched this one. I just finished it tonight, though. we don't always agree on movies, and i didn't like this one, but i watched Strange Darling right after on your recommendation and liked that one ! Thanks for the reviews, even if we don't always agree. 😊
I loved it. Didn't scare me but the vibe so SO fresh, the execution was exciting, and overall it's whats needed so badly in horror these days. Fresh takes.
I definitely got the Ghostwatch vibes! You're the first I've heard mention it. Not a one-to-one or anything, but I think they work for the same reasons.
Last year my favorite horror film was Talk To Me. If this is my favorite horror film this year (very likely) that's two films directed by Aussie brothers!
Production design and costume should be reaping many awards. Ending was overblown, as if the writers couldn't really decide how to end it. Dastmalchian is fantastic.
Like... It was alright, No Blood and Honey 2! Also i did start laughing about how many production opening graphics there were before the film started, i dony think i have ever seen that many before a movie started before. I did very much enjoy this film though and im looking forward to rewatching it.
I know it is a bit different but could you do a book recommendation video or post? I have a fascination with occult/paranormal topics and I'm super curious what books you like/recommend!
David Dastmalchin is Hella underrated, so glad he's finally getting the attention he deserves as an actor
His scene in The Dark Knight always stuck out to me
Only a few seconds long but it made an impact

This is so nice of you thank you! I really try my best and I’m glad it shows and is valuable to you
@@spookyastronauts of course! You’re the only TH-cam horror movie reviewer that I take recommendations from 🥰
Agreed the channel and Emma is amazing, intelligent and balanced reviews. Love the channel thank you ❤
Thank God I have YT premium, ads free babyyy 😂😌
Im so glad David is getting the all the flowers. He's so good & he's been good in many movies & he needs his dues!
Shudder is also getting one of my absolute fav horrors Mute Witness. You have to see it
I have!
Never heard of it, which is surprising.. thanks for the recommendation.

Why didn’t you say hi!!!
@@spookyastronauts I didn’t see you. 😢
Wish I was there. I like the look of it.

I literally just got back from seeing this movie and hopped onto youtube and this was the first video on my feed! Spoooooooooooky! Happy easter lol :D
I loved it as well. My favorite of 2024 so far. It's sharp.
Your description of the movie is everything I want Late Night to be and your enthusiasm is infectious . I've been waiting to see it since it was stuck in the festival circuit .
Hope you get to soon!
I'm sooooo happy you liked it! Eagerly awaiting the launch here in Brazil. I really hope it goes to theaters and not straight to streaming platforms

Ghostwatch is streaming on Shudder in the US.
Watched it at the time and have it on dvd , it’s great still to play to unsuspecting people now !

This movie sounds like I'm the core audience it's aiming for, can't wait to see it. :)
This was such a fun movie, the lapses in logic didn't even bother me. And my wife and i had different questions about the ending. Super fun flick!
Same page! Such a breath of fresh air. Total 9/10.

I'm sold. I'm waiting with baited breath. Thanks Emma.
It's the most fun horror movie I've seen in theaters in a while! 🤘
That's actually a pretty good description. It is fun, kinda cool, but not scary at all and doesn't hit very hard.
Awesome, one of my favorites of the decade i can already tell and I didn't know its an Aussie production! Cool
I dug this movie. The "off-air" scenes were really well done in the black and white.
I'm going to see it today!! I'm so excited, and I'll watch your review right after :D
I cannot wait to see this! So bummed out we have to wait longer!

Need a spoiler review. Wanna hear how you felt about that ending
Early! Glad you got to watch the movie and enjoyed it! I am going back to watch it again!
Wherever you live it looks awesome. I live in NYC and it isn't anywhere near as nice and clean!
The movie that adopted this format first - that I'm aware of anyway - is Delivery: The Beast Within
We need your review on that.
was so honoured to be part of Stabathon! (batmansNipple ) :)
Aussie horror really been kicking butt
I was immediately on board with the Behind the Music inspired intro
Just saw it and loved it. I was so completely engaged and drawn into the story. Beautifully done and as always you did it justice.
Very jealous you were able to see it so early here!
I didn't know this was filmed in Melb either. Glad it's living up to the hype for the most part.
I felt it was like a VHS 85 segment too!!! I also wish there was just a bit more going on, but I felt it was so fun
Watched it last night and easily my favorite horror movie so far this year. Even my not so easily impressed spouse really enjoyed it!
Love the change,😍 Great makeup looks beautiful, seems like you just came back from an island ✌🏽
Happy Easter 🐣 Emma ! 🐰
I'm so happy to see your reaction to this as mine was exactly the same! I can't wait to watch it again, my favourite so far this year
The BBC Anthology show Inside No.9 has a episode caled 3x3 which has related themes to his movie, pretty good
Yes, it is.
Abraxas finally got his own movie.
Great Job!
Loved this so much. 9 is well deserved. Thank you! 🙌💕
Watching it tonight, so excited about it :D Thank you for the review
How was it
This is been my favorite horror movie of 2024. Awesome film.
I agree with you on practically every count. The one thing that keeps this from being a near perfect film for me is that the conceit that we were watching the TV show broadcast on a documentary was dropped in the final minutes.
Definitely the best horror film of 2024 so far and the first GREAT horror film of 2024
Cannot recommend this movie enough. It was so, so good!!!
I am so excited for this one, unfortunately i had to wait till it hit shudder, cause in mexico it's release is set for august 😮💨
When does this come out for streaming? I'm sold! Thanks, Emma.
I haven’t seen the movie yet - I’m super excited! The preview reminded me of, “the cleansing hour,” from shudder awhile back.
I loved it. My favorite so far in 2024
Not as scary as I was expecting but I liked it. Reminded me of a long episode of The Twilight Zone. I get why there was narrative in the beginning but I think it could’ve been split up during intermission like a real documentary
Because it was a comedy I was expecting it to be less scary!
this movie really captured that 70's late night vibe big time! i saw some missed opportunities for some more scares, quite a bit actually.....but the 70's vibe is absolutely dead on...love this film.
Only few cons with it but hype was worth it. He's finally hitting his stride with parts He's doing 👏🏼😁
I honestly cant wait for this to come to streaming. This has been the top of my mist anticipated of the year.
I'm very excited to see this.
I’ve wanted to see this since the first poster dropped, going Sunday night. Can’t wait! Loved Ghostwatch ever since I was a kid, owned it on DVD and upgraded to the limited edition Blu-ray from 101 Films.
I get all my horror flick interests through you, so a rating of 9/10 means really big excitement for me too! Can't wait to check it out.
I am so excited for this movie.
I was so hyped to see it and wasn't disappointed in any way which is rare. Love everything about this film! It was just so much fun to watch.
was a bit disappointed by the film honestly, extremely slow & disatisfying payoff. David is a good lead though

I loved it. Didn't scare me but the vibe so SO fresh, the execution was exciting, and overall it's whats needed so badly in horror these days. Fresh takes.
Loved this so much. It's on Shudder now. It might actually work better watching at home than the theater.
Good review 😊
So. Excited. For. This. Movie. Yes!
I ended up checking it out today thanks to your review. I got a Cleansing Hour mixed with WNUF Halloween Special vibe with it. It was fun!
I cant wait to see this!! My friend said this was fantastic and she doesn't even like horror films!! So excited.
Good review and cool video Emma!👉🙂👈
I was waiting for this! Now I have to see the movie.
I really enjoyed it. It was fun and different from the usual stuff we get these days
I know it is a bit different but could you do a book recommendation video or post? I have a fascination with occult/paranormal topics and I'm super curious what books you like/recommend!
