This is not a video for someone starting youtube in 2024. This is more of gear show-off video. Nobody needs dedicated specialised gears like action camera, pocket camera, Sm7DB for podcasting or an expensive gimbal like latest DJI gimbals. Moreover ace pro could have been a better action camera choice if someone had to invest so much money anyways. When giving general informative video, one should do some research and give options from other brands also and not just canon and DJI and people watching may get influenced and buy what you have bought without having proper detailed information and knowledge about different brands and gear. What about sony zve10, what about sjcam for beginners, what about rode origincal podmic or even shure sm58 that can give sound matching very much to sm7db. What about powerful and portable lights like zhiyun molus 100x . What about cheaper zhiyun gimbals. If one is inveting money for outdoor tripod these days and he is a youtuber and not a profession with crew, instead of buying heavy video tripods he should go with something like peak design aluminium or ulanzi ones. Also, no mention of joby for youtubers, that is what most youtubers start with. Don't just justify your purchase decisions, tell people what is actually better decision.

You did not mention anything about smartphones, looks like for serious videos one should use cameras and not smartphones. In case of talking heads I personally find that the face looks a bit distorted which does not happen when using a fairly good DSLR or mirrorless camera. Any advice on this?

Yes, because the smartphones have 24mm angle of view, which is a bit wider for talking head videos. I prefer 35mm-50mm for such videos.
