I love how Jemaine always plays "himself" in an interview to be kind of a dweeb who is not very bright or attractive, but in his films he frequently plays characters that that see themselves as very hot and sexy but are actually dorks. He is sooo complex..... baaaahaha
I watched their original short, and it's interesting to see how Taika's character was not fleshed out at all. And in the movie version ghe characters really get more distinct.
I have watched this movie four times in the last month, paused on all of the still images to get a closer look, watched interviewers with DA BOYS, told everyone I know and then some to check it out, bought it, and i am still laughing at the clips whenever I see one. Brilliant. Thank you guys. Please Sir, can I have some more?
Yo they've made a tv show with new characters set in new york this time it doesn't look bad the boys are still involved in making it and yes Matt from the IT crowd and boosh is in it so perfect i have hopes
God I love this movie so much, I've seen it easily over 50 times. I've showed it to everyone I know, I bought the bluray, downloaded it and saved it onto three harddrives, as well as some USBs(just incase anything fails). Taika Waititi pls I want moar
One day , Jemaine Clement is gonna walk away with an Emmy for what we do in the shadows the tv series , obviously it's both of them , but being the creator , Jemaine is gonna bag it one day. Such a talented artist.
Gifted interviewer. I only watched the original short film last night and found it very interesting to hear about behind the scenes on the Vampire's different walks through town
i know *VICE* is stereotyped as only hiring lazy, edgy, hipster, millennials that know nothing; however, this is usually not true. the interviewer is *Reihan Salam* (he tells you his name @0:42). *Reihan Salam* is a (mostly conservative) journalist that has worked w/ *The Atlantic* , *Slate* , *National Review* , & many others. he's not someone i usually agree w/, but he'll occasionally writes smart articles & opinion pieces. in addition to that, he also went to school at *Cornell* & *Harvard* ; thus, not surprised that he knows what others might not. *wikipedia :* en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reihan_Salam *VICE :* www.vice.com/en_us/topic/reihan-salam
Oh my gosh whoever mixed the sound and the interviewers mic forgot to compress or filter the highs. I can hear the saliva being CREATED in his mouth when he speaks blarg
Funny...BEFORE i watched this video i read the countless negative comments about the Vice Interviewer but figured what the hell these 2 are hilarious and intelligent fellas ill give it a go anyway. After watching all 18+ minutes of it i believe the Vice Rep...did an EXCELLENT job and asked intelligent, NOT "Run-of the Mill" questions. Look...not all hosts can be Graham Norton or Jimmy Kimmel, those are different formats entirely as those hosts ARE comedians...this man is a JOURNALIST. Maybe he was a bit Stoic in his demeanor when compared to say Charlie Rose whose show possesses a similar backdrop, but a good interview none the less. I can watch any other Q & A the duo have done with more comedic bantor. One thing i did notice is the 2 look a bit "knackered" (TIRED for my fellow Americans)...visible by the stretching and body lango. Probably in the middle of the Press Junket for the Film at that time and beat. I just pray they make a sequel or we get to see the full 140 min cut of the film complete with the deleted scenes...two of which are online now...BOTH Hilarious!
"Turn that thing off! Our friend has just been killed in a fatal sunlight accident!" Also, apparently they're working on a spin-off sequel about the werewolves from the first movie. They're calling it "We're Wolves".
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS MOVIE! IT WAS HALRIOUS ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND I KEPT IT FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE I RETURNED IT TO REDBOX JUST SO I COULD WATHC IT OVER AND OVER. THEN I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE IT WAS BRILLIANT AND YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THE CARACTERS. WELL DONE GUYS YOU SHOULD WIN AWARDS FOR WHAT YOU CREATED!
I actually really like the interviewers questions here - he's actually trying to learn something. Other complaints like "he has an aire of self-importance" is ridiculous bullshit lol. The s sounds aren't all his fault either- probably some of it due to work not done in post.
Every time I watch documentaries with Waititi and a director friend of his I’m always left dreaming and scheming how I’d go about achieving my dreams, which just so happen to be the same as his lol I really hope I can find myself in a future where I can create films with my buddies and be financially supported while doing it. And to anyone with the same dream, may our paths meet and grow us stronger!
I loved the questions the interviewer asked, I am a kiwi though so maybe I am biased. I would have however liked to hear their full answers, I know momentum and time constraints would have been partially the reason for this but i would have appreciated hearing what they had to say in full.
I saw this movie first time during Warsaw Film Festival. I didn't know what to think, wasn't amused. I needed a few years to come back to it and I love it and the new series too.
Ok. But who was pleasantly surprised by the show. I never thought it could stack up to the movie but I'm falling more each episode. Also...Jemaine...if you're listening...😂😂😂 #BlackMel
This movie is unique and it is comedy brilliance. And the guys were spot on with the budget the actors the location, it just works and it works perfectly. If you have not seen this movie, see it! See it asap, you will not be dissapointed
Great movie. Looking forward to the show. I'm kind of wondering how often an interviewer can kind of use the phrase 'kind of' in this kind of interview. Seems like kind of like as much as kind of possible. 'Is this kind of what made you be creative, is that you kind of had to kind of create your own genre?' BRILLIANT INTERVIEWER.
Just a brilliant film! Great writing, fantastic script. I love it when Stewart is teaching them about computers and shows Vlad facebook Stewart: we can look at her photos Vlad: Yes Stewart: we can poke her Vlad: Yes!
I live in Canada and this is one of my fav movies ever. Vampires with a hint of Monty Python and Seinfeld. Brilliant comedy, the second one was good too.
this movie was absolutely hilarious. one of the best comedies i've seen in years!!!!!
Three years later this is still true for me
i hope your a life and you have seeing the TV show dude ? Was very very good shit XD Awesome shit XD
There’s 666 likes, I cannot, simply cannot...
Hahahah I was totally 667!! :( this is my go to movie. Love it and can't put a thumb down. Taking the 667
I love how Jemaine always plays "himself" in an interview to be kind of a dweeb who is not very bright or attractive, but in his films he frequently plays characters that that see themselves as very hot and sexy but are actually dorks.
He is sooo complex..... baaaahaha
To this day it's still one of the funniest movies ever made.
“slowly creeping across america, like a virus” -Taika Waititi
a strange sense of prophecy in those last words of this video now
came to the comment section just to find this lol
I watched their original short, and it's interesting to see how Taika's character was not fleshed out at all. And in the movie version ghe characters really get more distinct.
this interviewer really did his research, mad props
Thought his questions about NZ were terrible

@@AmmaraSHAH773377 The show is great, definitely lives up to the movie.

did you ever see the 05 version
Damn I love the dedication
FINALLY! vampires and comedy in one package!
Seriously, funniest movie since Anchorman. I got a sixpack from this movie. Laughed my ass off into oblivion,
One day , Jemaine Clement is gonna walk away with an Emmy for what we do in the shadows the tv series , obviously it's both of them , but being the creator , Jemaine is gonna bag it one day. Such a talented artist.
Nick:If they offer you spaghetti, don't eat it...Stewart:They offered me biscotti.
Gifted interviewer. I only watched the original short film last night and found it very interesting to hear about behind the scenes on the Vampire's different walks through town
This movie is brilliant! The werewolves are extremely funny. Kiwi humour is very smart.
***** Canadian Eh?
***** hahaha Really? Sweet as bro.
same as Welsh humor...we and Kiwi's are spiritual brothers and sisters
We're not swearwoves
An interviewer from the US that actually know the cultural subgroups of NZ, damn
+Seijuu Sentai Gingaman Yeah, it's shocking, makes you want to ask him how he knew.

these are actually amazing questions- love this interviewer
Best film of 2014.
Oh my gosh whoever mixed the sound and the interviewers mic forgot to compress or filter the highs. I can hear the saliva being CREATED in his mouth when he speaks blarg
Honestly, this is the best and instantly became my most favourite movie ever! BELIEVE the hype, its definitely worth it.
I'm an American who saw "what we do in the shadows" when I was in the 8th or 9th grade, and it's still one of my favorite movies
thank you Vice so much for this interviwerer, thought they were great and thought they got the feeling of each place
THE funniest mockumentary since Spinal Tap. These characters are written perfectly dark and clueless . Seen it dozen of times and STILL LMAO!
Funny...BEFORE i watched this video i read the countless negative comments about the Vice Interviewer but figured what the hell these 2 are hilarious and intelligent fellas ill give it a go anyway. Fantastic interview. Reminded me of just how much I love this film.
"Turn that thing off! Our friend has just been killed in a fatal sunlight accident!"
Also, apparently they're working on a spin-off sequel about the werewolves from the first movie. They're calling it "We're Wolves".
What-If Machine pretty sure that was only a rumor
I am in U.S. and love love love this movie. It is officially my favorite! I made all my friends and family watch it and they all had to see it again
Not gonna lie the interviewer has the nicest voice
Not a single scene went to waste in this Oscar-worthy film!
I freaking love this movie. I watch it anytime it comes on. love it
Love Taika Waititi! His movie "Boy" is wonderful.
this def should become a series, almost seems perfect for a television series.

Notice how kiwis sit with their arms crossed... pretty much sums us up
OGC yeah we’re like awkward Australians
OGC Cross Arms coz when we were younger if we touched things they'd usually break and we didn't want a beat down
firefist x 😂😂😂 I'm 35 and still get told off for touching things so I cross my arms
What we do in the shadows is one of the best films ever. I've watched it at least 12 times.
Taika means "Magic" in Finnish.
Magic White Titties?????
J'onn J'onzz Pretty much, Yeah.
Pece17 noice
What a great interviewer! Such thoughtful questions for once...
One of the funniest films ever made i believe. Iv seen it probably a dozen times. So unique and pure brilliance
Good questions. Originally had no interest in the topic, but you engaged me immediately on a number of levels. Well done.
Can you guys please make a sequel? This movie was awesome. I'm recommending it to everyone.
I loved the questions the interviewer asked, I am a kiwi though so maybe I am biased. I would have however liked to hear their full answers, I know momentum and time constraints would have been partially the reason for this but i would have appreciated hearing what they had to say in full.
"New Zealand has become more tolerant of frilly sheets" good news mate.
'Shirts' frilly 'shirts' is what he said, not sheets.
VICE meets Taika Waititi and Flight of the Conchord's Jemaine Clement to discuss their hilarious new film.
Is that the kind of thing that you think you might be into?
I don't think you know what new means, this came out like, mid-last year
So, three months is "old" to you? Are you 12?
It's been our for well over a year, so it's not new to me?
Are you?
Movie has been out for over a year. So therefore it is not a new release.
This guy is a good interviewer. Hes done all his research.
sometimes you just gotta rewatched what we do in the shadows movie because life has lost all meaning and viago is the only one who could cheer you up
This interviewer is great!
I saw this movie first time during Warsaw Film Festival. I didn't know what to think, wasn't amused. I needed a few years to come back to it and I love it and the new series too.
Such talented guys! Making Nz proud
'A very big bulky man that's very insecure'. I love this. I'm New Zealand. :D
Fuck yeah! Seen the movie a couple of times now. New Zealand comedy is so much better then it is over here in Australia.
As a maori I really love australian comedy
This movie is a lot like Spinal Tap and I love it.
It is so interesting looking at this now. I love that they still have a sense of theirselves.
You guys dont need famous actor. Its perfect as it is
Why 'What We Do in the Shadows' is not a Series?
Netflix, do your magic!
right?
Damn, that would be awesome
OMG! That's better than Guinness in a can!
I so wish!!
Do you have Prince Albert in a can? Well you better let the guy out then! Waha waha waha waha wahaa!
Ran into this movie by chance, and it still one of my favorite movie of all time. :)
