ENG Sub - How the Love Live! seiyuus discovered the franchise

  • The other video I was subbing got corrupted, so here's a short video talking about how these seiyuus discovered the Love Live! series for now.
I discovered Love Live! when I was really addicted to reading yuri (my username here used to be yuriotaku but I thought it might sound off-putting to others so I changed it to yurio lol). I noticed that this series had so many yuri doujins so I watched the anime as a joke because I wanted to at least know who the characters are. But now I'm more addicted to it than anything else and I've dedicated more time to this series than necessary. I even learned Japanese just so I could understand whatever the heck they're saying, and I'm still very much in love with them. I would usually get tired of something after a few months, but I've been a Love Live! fan for more than 3 years now and I was able to discover so many interesting franchises and people thanks to them.
I'll post a longer video next week, thank you for waiting!
P.S.: I just noticed how small the font size was on my previous video from the same live stream. Hopefully this one is more readable now.
    Seiyuus in the video:
(Uehara Ayumu) Onishi Aguri - light pink
(Nakasu Kasumi) Sagara Mayu - yellow
(Kurosawa Ruby) Furihata Ai - pink
(Tsushima Yoshiko) Kobayashi Aika - gray
(Shibuya Kanon) Date Sayuri - marigold
(Hazuki Ren) Aoyama Nagisa - sapphire blue

Sayuri’s comments dont do her justice. In her interview after being cast, she gives more detail on her love for the franchise. Like how she cried in e3 of SIP when Honk, Umi and Kotori performed Start Dash in an empty arena, or how she felt deeply moved seeing Rikako perform Omoi yo Hitotsu ni Nare at Aqours’ first live and being supported by the rest of Aqours after what happened on day 2. Or even how Mirai Harmony is a special song for her, bc she listened to it on repeat on the train ride to her final audition.

I'm sure the stories of the other girls could be expanded too, but I think they are under a time crunch when they're giving answers during something like this.

every generation of LL has a special memory for sayurin. i'm the same way, every part of the franchise has something dear to me, including the 3D parts. i like hearing the seiyuu gush about their feelings, like how ainya brought a kotori plush to her audition and became self-conscious of being an otaku lol. and of course anchan's glove in her cyaron outfit being an old muse cosplay glove. it's the exact same type of thing i'd do if i were in their position.

Lol that's literally the same as me. My entire idol hell experience started back in 2015 when I watched episode 3 of SIP and cried at the empty auditorium. Back then I had no idea what this would lead to. I also always cry when watching the Omoi yo Hitotsu ni Nare part.

It's hard not to love Love Live. Fantastic songs, stories, games, characters, and in my opinion the most important aspect; the seiyuus

furirin crying whenever she watches µ's lives is such a mood.
i discovered LL when the 2nd season of SIP just ended. when the 1st season was airing i already had a lot of friends recommending it to me but i was still a shounen fanboy during that time in elementary and only decided to pick it up quite late when the 2nd season was airing.
and its all downhill from there. from a shounen fanboy to a literal idol trash. god bless the LL franchise

Thank you for the sub! It's so interesting to hear how they all found Love Live. I'm sure they never imagined at the time that they would end up as such a core part of it. The moment we all discovered Love Live, it connects us all!

I only recently got into Love Live last April because of shutdown. My brother and I decided to watch a μ’s MV (it was Wonderful Rush) to see what the CG was like and... I became REALLY interested. I only knew Nico before because of a meme in 2016 and Nico Nii but now I love everyone!!

I discovered Love Live in 2016 watching the anime (at the time, there was only SIP). At the beginning I was like, 'ah, the songs are good, the story is not bad, let's continue'. After I finished the 1st season I just couldn't stop. I started playing SIF and even started to try to learn Japanese (still not there though). And even though I didn't completly understand English at that time, I tried my best to understand the fan-made translations. You guys are our saviors, btw!!
Now I'm a huge fan (even though I can't buy any of their products) and I always try to support them every way I can. I started to follow them on social media even though I can't understand 90% of what's written. I try to watch all the livestreams. I really tried watching SuperStar in a legal way, but money rules everything so....
I freaking want to buy μ's concerts DVD's!!!!!!!!!!

I'm exactly the same way - I found Love Live! in 2016 about a month before Sunshine came out, and watched it because it was on some random TH-camr's recommended list. From there it was on to Sunshine, SIF, the Lives (wish these were easier to access), the Niconico shows, and all that goes with it. I wish Love Live merch was easier to acquire overseas without paying a fortune, but for now I pump enough money into All Stars to support where I can.

    OMG, I loved this video!!!
    Thank you for the translation!!!
Is so good to know how they met and fell in love with Love Live!
And I completly agree with Furirin. Watching μ's concerts always makes me cry at the end. Specially the first ones (for example when the anime and the second season were informed to the public. Watching them crying also makes me cry) and the Final Live (for obvious reasons).

I remember I found out about love live in 2016 because a classmate made a post about muse last live. I wanted to know what it was so I watched the first opening (bokuaka), and the rest is history

Those are several adorable stories. I'd almost disbelieve somebody getting in game first if that wasn't also my path.
(I was _aware_ of Love Live since the first season of SIP; I'd heard some songs and seen some fanworks, and I even recommended it to my wife when she wanted another idol anime, but I didn't really get into it until SIFAS launched in English; I installed it on a lark, and things snowballed. Heck, NijiGaku was the first of the anime I watched all the way through. Now I'm just way too invested in these 36 girls.)

the first time i found out about love live, i was just searching for an anime to watch (sunshine was about to be aired that time if im not mistaken)
last year I thought about binge watching the entire sunshine series and the movie
didn’t regret it cuz they’re the reason i was curious about the voice behind the characters
“smarty” me only know the existence of the seiyuu only last year and im now on my last year of high school
anyway, me, discovering their existence is a never regret of mine ( •8• )

2013, I got into the franchise.
Had just finished Steins;Gate for the first time and wanted to watch something more lighthearted, and it was in my recommended at the botton of the screen. (How some sites go like "You like this, so watch this!")
There was Love Live and next to it IdolMaster(if i remember correctly, i mostly just remember it being another idol anime)
I went "eenie meenie miney mo" between the two and landed on Love Live. I've been stuck in Idol Hell ever since... and I can't escape. Going on basically 11 years now... That's both impressive and concerning via my ability to cling to things I enjoy... and my attention span.

For me, it was, anime, SIF, Lives. How I got into the anime, I heard a lot of people talking about it, and I had never watched an idol anime before, I tried watching and now I'm here, going to Numazu in a few months.

not gonna lie, the fist time i found out about love live I thought it was not worth it since I was just a himejoshi looking for more shoujo ai but then my friend gave me a love live sunshine manga(it was in malay though..) for my birthday and I thought" wow, the art is amazing' (and its kinda gay) so I decided to give it a try and now.. its almost the only reason why I'm still alive. honestly, I never would have thought that there were something that could cure depression untill i met love live
