My people, organic farming is not a new thing. Our grandparents practiced organic farming over 60 years ago. After Kenya attained independence, Kenyans started aping the west. We abandoned our organic practices and started using fertilizers and pesticides to grow our foods. We started caging our animals instead of allowing them to move freely. We started forcing our pigs to lie on concrete instead of allowing them to dig their noses into the ground. We started using hybrid maize instead or our original maize. We started eating genetically modified foods instead of natural food, we embraced modern poorly grown chicken instead of our kienyeji chickens. We stopped using animal manure and began using more agri chemicals . These agri chemicals are the reason why many people have health problems like high blood pressure, cancer, inflammation, diabetes, hair loss, fertility problems, low sperm count poor vision, poverty, stupidity etc. When I hear a young person talking like a fool I cringe with fright. When I see plastics in organic farming I cringe. I'm sure many of us learnt these things in school.
