Hearing you gush about Veronica and Stoker makes me so freaking happy. For real, I never get to hear other people talk about them. Ugh, they are my heart
your first honorable mention being the invocations made my heart so happy! you were the one that convinced me to read this one and enjoyed it so much 🥹
i read the prequel directly after i read into the drowning deep and i really enjoyed that one as well!! but i’m so excited to read more sci-fi horror!!
@@katieisreading I am reading my way through Veronica Speedwell as well! It's going to be a great year! 15 series for now and I'll add more as I go through them. Another big one is The Throne of Glass!
Sword of Kaigen was my favorite fantasy of 2024! So amazing! Also, loved India Holtons book. It was so cute and cozy! Can’t wait for the second book too!
Thank you for this year Katie, for your hard work & for bringing us all such joy and entertainment with your videos 💕💕 Some of my favorite reads this year was A Dowry of Blood & The Invisible Life of Addie Larue!!
Aside from rereads that I did this year, my favorite books are: The starless sea, System collapse, The spear cuts through water, Pack of lies, The sunshine court, The bones beneath my skin
my favorite books of the year were mexican gothic, the scarlet veil and the curse of sins. i also really want to read the emily wilde and veronica speedwell series, they're on my 2025 tbr!
i read A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon this year and that book just eclipsed everything else. so much better than priory of the orange tree, god it was amazing and i already want to reread it
Loved this list and got so many recs ❤ I hope 2025 is a much better reading year for you. Just know that the sword of kaigen is epic and one of the best books ever written but it's not a standalone. The author isn't writing the next one for reasons but it wasn't written to stand alone, and honestly still worth it even if it never continues. I HOPE IT DOES THOUGH 😢
My husband saw me watching this and he said "she's not even reading" 😂 But literally everything you said about map of the otherlands I completely agree, such a great book!
I’m planning to get into the Mistborn original trilogy this year and now I’m excited to potentially continue into era 2!! Also really want to read Yumi. Very excited to read The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love this year too 😍 And I loved your top favorite book as well, so so good and can’t wait for book 3 in the series!! My top books of last year were Six of Crows, Beartown, Words of Radiance, The Things We Cannot Say, Piranesi, Seven Days in June, and The God of the Woods!
two of my faves from 2024 were Where the Dark Stands Still by A.B. Poranek and This Fatal Kiss by Alicia Jasinska!! both are full of polish folklore and magic and give studio ghibli vibes!
I also have mistborn era 2 and Emily Wilde on my top 10 list of last year! I haven’t checked out Veronica Speedwell yet so maybe I need to look into that… Yumi is on my list to read this year, I’m really looking to it
I love these videos so much. I have a few on my list to read for next year and I am currently reading Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands. My top reads of 2024 were A Court of Wings and Ruin, The House In the Cerulean Sea, Witch Hat Atelier series, Yona of the Dawn series, Funny Story, and Divine Rivals. Hope you have a great holiday and a Happy New Year!!
You're amazing Katie ❤ I have so many books that are my favorite because you loved or liked them and I had to read them and so because of you I am loving reading more and more so thank you ❤😊
My top books of the year were definitely the agggtm series omg I just loved it ❤ and also I read the first book in the Emily Wilde series and just bought the second one so can’t wait to read it!!! I love your videos katieee🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
With the exception of the entire Throne Of Glass series, my favorites these year were Childhood's End (Arthur C. Clarke/sci-fi), There There (Tommy Orange/literary fiction), A Little Devil In America (Hanif Abdurraqib/non-fic essay collection), and Wellness (Nathan Hill/literary fiction)
I read...way too many books this year, but I'd say my top 5 (from highest to lowest rated) is: "Middlegame" by Seanan McGuire, "The Murderbot Diaries" by Martha Wells (at least books 1-4), "The Gravekeeper" series by Darcy Coates, "Parable of the Sower" by Octavia E. Butler, and "Harrow the Ninth" by Tamsyn Muir. The best thing about Emily and Wendell being opposites: they are LITERALLY opposites. Emily may be socially awkward, but she does create genuinely meaningful connections with people when she manages to interact with them. Wendell, on the other hand, is very much shallow and surface level; he creates connections easily, but they're, well, shallow and easily forgotten or broken because he just doesn't (or can't) care that much. It's SO well done!
ah so many good reads on your list! i read the first murderbor book a few weeks ago and loved it so seeing it on your list makes me very excited to continue it!! and yess to your point about emily and wendell!! they’re dynamic is just so well written❤️
My top books of 2024 were The Women by Kristin Hannah, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and the Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston.
I get high n watch Katie is reading 😂..btw if you like sci-fi horror you should read annihilation! My top 2 favorite bookz from this year. You can read it in a day if you’re committed.
if you haven’t read it yet, i’d really recommend a far wilder magic by allison saft! it’s so good and i’d say it’s similar in concept to ornithologists field guide and emily wilde
Reading a Brandon Sanderson book is on my 2025 TBR! I started Tress and was liking it but didn’t get to finish! Yumi sounds so interesting too!! And of course all of his series are so intriguing… What do you recommend I start with?! 📚 🌟 My favorite reads of the year were Yona of the Dawn (the whole thing lol), The Wicked King, and Anne of Green Gables!! 💗 💜 💚
My introduction to Sanderson that was recommended to me was Warbreaker! A standalone Cosmere novel. Absolutely brilliant! Highly recommend. Can't wait to read Mistborn next! Xx
ah so excited for your brandon sanderson reading journey!!! i think the first mistborn book, the final empire, is the best place to start in my opinion! it’s pretty fast paced and introduces you to great characters right off the bat! also so happy to see yona gracing your list🤧💗
