    So I've had few of people who tell me they are unsubscribing from this TH-cam channel. This is a typical comment:
    "Thought you were Muslim you just lost one subscriber if you are really Muslim you wouldn't use wine at all as the prophet (pbuh) said in this Hadith plus many more b. In Sunan Ibn-I-Majah Volume 3, Book of Intoxicants, Chapter 30 Hadith No. 3392 Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah".
    Let me tell you that the Titli Book of Peeves, Volume 10 , Chapter 6, No. 4127 says that "people who subscribe to my channel simply because I'm muslim is as bad as anyone who subscribes simply because I'm not black, or American, or whatever."
    Chapter 7 of the same volume, No 5361 says "nothing is more annoying than someone who quotes religious text without really understanding its deeper meaning and context."
    "People who unsubscribe from my channel" does not feature in any of the 20 Volumes...

      Hi there Titli, if they want to unsubscribe, let them, it's there problem, when I watched your video last night, as soon as you entered wine into that dish I knew straightaway "There's a storm brewing now"!!
      Even though I could easily tell by the texture and colour that was a halal alcohol free wine! I've got some myself, it tastes lovely!
      Now if all the "religious God squads" are threatening to unsubscribe, let them, it's there problem, why can't people have a little Sense of humour ??
      You keep up the super work my love, I don't care whether you'll ever become Muslim/Jew/Christian/Hindu, black/white/yellow/green, I'll always be subscribed to you no matter what!

    Perfect. The key to success as Titli showed is to reduce the wine marinade before adding, and then cooking the stew long and slow. Major intensified flavours.

    Hi Titli! I am making this recipe for my parents tomorrow (with seitan because we're veggies). It looks superb! Just wanted to say that, as a convert, I understand the enormous hypocrisy and judgment that you must face from people whose own religiosity should be called into question when they act in such a hateful manner. You are so funny, witty, and knowledgeable and you are a wonderful ambassador of Islam in a time when the world needs help to see its inherent beauty, a beauty that has been clouded by extremists and zealots. خدا حافظ

    My overweening French cookbook declares that "To ensure the no one element of your boeuf bourguignon is overdone, cook the onions, mushrooms and beef separately before combining them. Although the different steps may be taken simultaneously, it is easier to deal with them one at a a time." There you have it, Titli, you didn't use every pot in your kitchen or trash it nearly enough to satisfy the French. I think I'll try yours anyway.

    Dear Titli I love your cooking, humour, and imagination! Just superb! I just made Beef Bourguinon this week and here you have a wonderful video to boot! I'm sorry that some are not happy with the wine added, but why should they have the last say. Brava Madame and Aloha from Hawai'i! Did you know that a famous libation in Hawai'i is Okole Hau? :) Here's a Wikipedia bit:
    Okolehao is an ancient Hawaiian alcoholic spirit whose main ingredient was the root of the ti plant. Okolehao's forerunner was a fermented ti root beverage or beer. When distillation techniques were introduced by English seamen in 1790, it was distilled into a highly alcoholic spirit.
    Hawaiians discovered that if the ti root is baked, a sweet liquid migrates to the surface of the root. Chemically, the heat changed the starch in the root to a fermentable sugar. The baked root is then soaked in a vat of water which dissolves the sugar, and fermentation begins. The fermented drink was later distilled into a highly alcoholic spirit which became Hawaii's only indigenous distilled spirit, and was prized by the King. The Merrie Monarch, King David Kalakaua, is said to have had his own distiller.

    Titli, I've been watching your videos for a long time now - I think I've watched every one, including your garden and bread channels, but I like your busy kitchen videos the best. You showed me it's not so hard to tackle some pretty complex recipes and that it's okay to use my hands to mix things :)
    I noticed you started and ended your kitchen videos with something or other but just assumed it meant something like "welcome" and "goodbye" in some language or other. I can't wait to see what food you will take on next! I also like to try recipes from different countries, I use Jeff Smith's cookbook "On Our Immigrant Ancestors: Recipes You Should Have Gotten From Your Grandmother".
    I was surprised to find out you are muslim, as I have never met anyone who was muslim. Somehow I thought you all wore headscarves and had accents (I know, ignorance, ignorance.) Frankly it doesn't matter to me what religion you are, as long as I can still watch your videos :) From just watching your videos I think the idea that you would in any way ever be untrue to any of your personal beliefs is absurd.
    Cheers and very best regards from Michigan, U.S.A.

    People should know her sense of humour by now, gosh! But yes, I'll be honest, I did take a gasp then I thought, nah she wouldn't.
    It's not just because she is a Muslim that I watch her but because she is an amazing cook and yes, her dishes are halal and are of many different cultural cuisines, that's what I love to know - world food. So I can learn and make it myself. Many world foods are not halal so in some ways it does matter that she is a Muslim because she is catering for all the halal eaters, hence why some of us follow Titli's cooking.
    It's also alright to advise someone privately if you have an issue and always speak kindly, but you have to make sure that you are also pure as you make out to be or else you can come across as a hypocrite.
    This channel may not be about religion but it is to do with a person's halal and non-alcoholic preference. An alternative cooking methods, t'is all.
    Goodness knows if I made any sense there at all! Lol

      Titlis Busy Kitchen Titli I believe there are so many Muslims like me and my wife who watch, subs and enjoy your cooking video. I also wonder why you stop the usual saying "assalamualaikum" and now suddenly you use alcohol that is because we care about you, with that I keep in my mind that non of us clean or holy infront of Allah. Please take care and keep making a good recipe, best regards from Istanbul.

      The wine I used was alcohol-free - Regular viewers would know that. This time I chose not to mention it. The result has been, sadly, predictable with a number of people instantly judging me and "offering me advice" or unsubscribing. I'm glad they have unsubscribed. If people watch my videos I like to think that it's because of the food I cook and not because they imagine that this is an offshoot of the Islam Channel!
      As for changing what used to be my usual greeting? I have my reasons.

    • @osummuso
      @osummuso 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Others might not have a lot of time for Moslem greetings and preferences within food.
      Titli has always acknowledged her recipes to be a starting point of a process, not the be all and end all.
      So absorb what you enjoy from them, while allowing others to do the same.
      It wasn't so lomhg ago Titli had to explain what Halaal food meant to moslems on her channel!

    I don't understand why all these comments dissing people who don't consume alcohol? You get over it and understand that there are a lot of people out there who choose not to consume alcohol in any way in their diets either for religious, cultural or health reasons. Probably they won't make this recipe but I don't think they care much about that. I don't. So no need to make those feel inferior just because they are different to what you are used to!

      Rusaila Bazlamit What the haters and the I'm-Oh-So-Pious brigade don't realise, because I didn't explicitly tell them, is that I used alcohol-free red wine. :-) This is the problem with many people - they judge without knowing all the facts.

      Exactly. People are too eager to judge. In any case like any other cooking show or book. We can pick and choose which recipe to try, which recipe to tweak and which to skip altogether. Looking forward to the rest of the French month and I hope it will feature some of their amazing desserts.

    I'm a proud Muslim, but reading these comments remind me why Muslims drive me crazy. Haroon ar-Rashid drank wine people (unlike Titli-the kind with alcohol), infact most of the Ummayyad and Abbassid leaders did. So are we going to write them out of history because they offend our sensibilities? Are we five years old?

      Whether there's alcohol in there is 'not your beef', but you certainly can cook your beef without using alcohol.

    If the wine she used was non alcoholic she would have said so as she has always put in her disclaimers in the beginning. What can we Muslims use instead of wine titli as alcohol is haram for us?

    What a strange version of the bourguignon... (a british one i guess!?) Normally there is no celeri in a boeuf bourguignon, and no more leek... what a nonsens!
    Only young oignons with the green was accepted (in some versions)... And a bourguignon without lardons it's not a bourguignon! (it's not supposed to be a halal or casher reicipe 😜 but if the "product from the fermentation of the grape" don't make u mad, try with lardons... from turkey meat if u prefere i don't care!)
    Traditionnally for the wine we use a red "bourgogne" (notice the origin: bougogne/bouguignon...) but a red wine not too strong like a californian merlot does a good job for that, serve with potatoes cooked in salted water or directly in the sauce (i do it like that).
    Personnally i add a piece of heart with my beef and i fry the meat with walnut oil mixed with butter...
    Trust me about "Le Boeuf Bourguignon": this is one of my best recipe, i am français and former cook madame!

    I'm sure all Muslims will have a problem with that. Just call it juice or whatever it is. Better then making your self vulnerable to shaytaan spreading doubts about you to other people. Of course I always think the best of muslims and I know it's not wine but calling a halal thing by a haraam name, and calling muslims nut jobs, is inappropriate.

    • @TitlisBusyKitchen0
      @TitlisBusyKitchen0  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Family Laptop The more educated and thoughtful muslims will not have a problem with it. I call it what it says it is on the label. What other people think of me is of absolutely no importance - I am not answerable to them. And as far as I'm concerned any person, whatever their faith, who uses carefully selected parts of their religious text to justify barbarism is a nut job.

    • @TitlisBusyKitchen0
      @TitlisBusyKitchen0  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think you're confusing religion with politics. Theresa May is Home Secretary not Foreign Secretary and is not responsible for foreign policy. The real nut jobs are messrs Bush & Blair. Leaders since then have been trying to undo their mess ever since.
      Islam is a beautiful religion but, sadly, muslims are their own worst enemy. There is a minority that believe that we should all be living like 7th Century Arabs and that anyone who doesn't believe exactly what they do must be killed. They casually ignore the Qur'an which tells us that "there is no compulsion in religion" but instead focus on the Surah describing behaviour in battle when attacked as justification for agression and barbarism. They ignore the history of coexistence in Medina and Mecca at the time of the Prophet.
      Regarding "Alcohol Free wine", let me remind you of Surah As-Saffat. "But the sincere devotees of Allah shall have familiar sustenance - fruits, and shall be honored in the gardens of delight. Reclining face to face upon soft couches, they shall be served with goblets filled at a fountain of wine, a crystal-white drink, delicious to those who drink it. It will neither dull their senses nor will they become drunk."
