    FUJIFILM INSTAX MINI FILM:
    PRO TIP: Instax Film Deals: It helps to look around and buy in bulk. Generally, the 60 image value pack is your best bet for the lowest pricing. It only contains the plain white borders but is normally the cheapest around 58 cents per shot, or $5.80 per 10pack.
    Instax MINI 60 sheet Value Pack: amzn.to/3fyK8Ra
    Instax MINI 20 sheet pack: amzn.to/3fyK8Ra
    Instax MINI BLACK Frame 10 Sheet Pack: amzn.to/3fvic0p
    Instax MINI Black and White 10 sheet pack: amzn.to/2L8UoS2
    Instax MINI FUN Variety Set with 50 sheets: amzn.to/3fvjQ25
    FUJIFILM INSTAX SQUARE FILM:
    PRO TIP: Instax SQUARE can be found for about 87-91 cents per sheet regularly. I have found some of the best deals for you here. Make sure to look around and divide the price of the film by the number of sheets. If you are paying more than 91 cents each, you are paying too much!
    Instax SQUARE 20 sheet pack with a white frame: amzn.to/2xLWHYh
    Instax SQUARE 10 sheet pack with a black frame: amzn.to/3fvQoJp
    FUJIFILM INSTAX WIDE FILM:
    PRO TIP: You can find Instax WIDE for about 90 cents a shot.
    Instax WIDE Film 2 Pack (40 exposures): amzn.to/2LdYgBe
    Instax WIDE Film 3 Pack with photo framers (60 Exposures): amzn.to/3begPA0
    INSTAX CAMERAS:
    PRO TIP: Getting the best price is usually linked to color. So make sure to check the color options to ensure you are getting the best price. You may prefer black, but if the yellow one is $30 less, it may be worth the savings.
    #1 MiNT TL70 My Favorite Instax Mini Camera. Aperture priority f5.6-22. Beautiful twin lens reflex design: amzn.to/2SQxbIJ
    #2 MiNT RF70 My Favorite Instax WIDE Camera- Fully manual with optional ND filters. f5.6-22, shutter 30 seconds to 1/500. I love it: amzn.to/3ducU3r
    #3 Fujifilm Instax WIDE 300. Great Automatic option for Instax Wide Photography: amzn.to/2WGxKFY
    #4 Fujifilm Neo Classic Mini 90. Uses Mini film. Great compact auto camera in black or brown. Consistent excellent images: amzn.to/3bg6ALt
    #5 Fujifilm Mini 70. A cheaper version of the Mini 90. Available in a lot of colors. Just as much fun but fewer features than the Mini 90: amzn.to/3dr58Y7
    #6 Fujifilm Instax SQ6. Available in many colors. Shoots Instax SQUARE. Great automatic camera with many functions. Similar design to the excellent Mini 90. amzn.to/2yvLoUz
    POLAROID CAMERAS:
    PRO TIP: Don’t buy the camera bundled with film or accessories. You will usually overpay!
    #1 OneStep+ This is Polaroid's current flagship camera. It has Bluetooth built in to pair with your phone. If you take instant photography seriously, and you want polaroid, then this is the camera for you. Fully manual. F12-64. 30 seconds all the way to 1/125. Portrait and standard lens selection. Get it in white or black (I got white and love it). Uses I-TYPE FILM. It’s great: amzn.to/2YH7nCy
    #2 OneStep Now. Polaroid's newest camera. It is the only current camera with autofocus. Great focus, automatic only. Uses I-TYPE FILM. Available in many colors: amzn.to/2YN5YdO
    #3 OneStep2 great automatic option. No autofocus. Everything is in focus past 2 feet. Available in many colors. Uses I-TYPE FILM. Just point and shoot: amzn.to/2YN5Pag
    POLAROID FILM:
    PRO TIP: Get the right film. Vintage cameras use 600-TYPE Film. If you have a Polaroid camera you got from your grandmother or at the thrift store, it uses 600-TYPE film. If you have a new Polaroid camera, it uses I-TYPE film. If you have a Polaroid camera that folds flat, it uses SX-70 TYPE Film.
    Polaroid 600 and SX-70 film is more expensive than the I-Type film because the cartridges have batteries in the packs of film to power the cameras. Your best bet when buying polaroid is to buy the official bulk packs.
    Polaroid I-TYPE 5 pack bundle (40 exposures total): amzn.to/3froAG5
    Polaroid I-TYPE Single Pack (8 exposures total): amzn.to/2YPXcvp
    Polaroid I-Type Black Frame (8 exposures total): amzn.to/35HoIgd
    Polaroid I-Type Value Pack B&W and color (24 images total): amzn.to/3bkq41s
    Polaroid 600-TYPE Film 5 Pack (50 Total exposures): amzn.to/2YH8Toe

    Great video! Thanks for explaining the instax controls in real photography terms. My lightbulb went off when I understood that picture mode controls aperture and the light and dark and setting controls shutter speed. You are the first person who is explained a way to use the flash that makes sense. I usually just turn it off, but I’m looking forward to trying it your way.

    Love the video but i too was a bit lost. It would be amazing if you did a cheat sheet type video where you said the possible lighting conditions and then the best mode to use with each one.

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Jessica, I'd love to do that, but unfortunately It's not quite that simple. It's all about lighting. It takes some time to build up the experience to know what the light is doing. So, unfortunately, if this video was difficult to follow, then that means it's a great opportunity to try out what I was talking about and see how it works. It's kind of like my "tips" are concentrated experience. It may not make sense right now, and if you haven't shot enough for it to make sense, then you need to practice and shoot more. Your best bet would be to take one example at a time, look for that kind of lighting in your surroundings, and set up a shot, I'd be happy to see how your images turn out. Be sure to follow me @RobHammPhoto on IG. If you have any other Q's, just DM me there. Cheers and good luck!

      Robert Hamm have you tried using your mini 90 with off camera portals?
      I've been having fun with some decent results. I set up the younguo flash set to slave mode with a shoot through umbrella. I trigger the flash by holding my cell phone in front of the flash. Pointing the phone towards the speed light, while blocking any direct flash from hitting the subject.
      Fun times if you haven't already tried it.

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it is a manual eject button. You would use a paper clip or sim eject tool to work it.

  • @maryjoyevangelista8362

    What would be the great alternative for the modifier? Please :) I have my new instaxmini 90 and i love to shoot great photos outdoor :)

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Engrjoy Evangs Hi. Thanks for the question. Sometimes I'll use a thin white paper napkin. Just make sure not to double it over, you just want to use one layer of the paper to help difuse the light. Of course you could use a sheet of paper as well.
      Color temperature may change a little depending on the color of the napkin or paper you are using, but it shouldn't be too bad. Remember that we are only trying to soften the light, and this top works best when the subject I'd close, like 4 to 6 feet (about 1.5 to 2 meters).
      I hope it helps. Cheers!

    Hey, thanks for the video, i have a ton of pictures out of focus and idk why, do you know how does it works?

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Victoria. The most likely reason is that the wrong focusing mode was chosen. The Mini 90 uses zone focus. You have to make your best guess out of three focusing zones. It's easy to forget because everything in the viewfinder will always be in focus. You should choose macro when things are within a meter, the people icon, when your subject is between 1 and 3 meters, and the mountain focusing icon when your subject is more than 3 meters away from you. I hope this helps. Thanks for asking. Cheers!

    • @RobertHamm

      Yes. Almost anything can be used to modify the flash. Just get something translucent and mostly white in color. You'll be good to go. Cheers.

    Many comments/reviews I've read on Amazon say that all their photos from the value packs of film turn out completely black. I read dozens of reviews saying this. Do you think it is defective film or all attributable to improper use? Have you ever had this issue after having film shipped to you?

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t had that experience. I can’t speak to the claims because I haven’t seen them. If I had to guess, I’d say user/camera error. Instead film, or instant silk for that matter, is very tricky to expose. It’s easy to get a wrong exposure. This is especially true when exposing manually.

    Would the exposure of my images come out bad if I use darken mode and the flash WITHOUT a cloud dome?

    • @-yayschmitty-8440
      @-yayschmitty-8440 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have a cloud dome, so I’m wondering if it would be okay without one.

    • @-yayschmitty-8440
      @-yayschmitty-8440 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also would like to know whether or not it would be okay to use darken mode indoors.

    • @-yayschmitty-8440
      @-yayschmitty-8440 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And also, if I use lighten mode, would it be necessary to use the flash as well? Is it not going to be bright enough with lighten mode?

    • @-yayschmitty-8440
      @-yayschmitty-8440 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And do I use the flash for landscape and architectural photography?

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lot's of questions... Not having the dome won't hurt your images. It may make the flash a little brighter. The purpose of the dome is to diffuse the light so it's softer on the face and fill in any shadows. Do not use darken mode indoors. It's too dark inside for Instax film at the small apertures the Mini 90 uses (f11.7 and f22). Lighten mode tells the camera to either open the shutter longer or use a wider aperture (depending on your mode). When you need to lighten, you should use flash because you want to lighten even more. Like outside when shooting into the sun (back-lit subject). Don't use flash for landscapes of architecture.

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With zone focus cameras, like the mini 90 and all other Fujifilm Instax cameras, you must be a good judge of distance. This is because are all zone focus. They can't manually focus. They simply focus up to .6 meters, from .6 to 3 meters, and beyond 3 meters. So, get good at judging distance with these kinds of cameras.

    • @GreenlifeFin
      @GreenlifeFin ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobertHamm Yes, that is the point. I think too many think "A" stands for Automatic, including automatic focus, when it actually means kind of "N for normal distance/focus". Because sooo many photos I see in the reviews and testing videos the photos are so blurry. Of course long shutter speeds matter also, the apertures are small and in low light the exposure times get longer. I will soon receive my new SQ6, let's see how I manage with it 😄
