Hmm, now that I've looked up the lyrics, I actually think Internet War makes A LOT of sense. I'm going to copypaste part of this from my reddit post so I don't have to retype it all, but here is what I think about it: (Meta discussion ahead ^^;) As much as it's definitely a great moment, everyone seems to focus on the homoeroticism and fanservice in this performance without noticing the significance and meaning behind it - which, to me, is the more important and interesting part, and I think central to why Jonghyun defended it, why they kept performing it, and why the handcuffed moment at the end is the iconic part for him (the image he chose to post on his twitter during the backlash). I've linked the lyrics below, they're by Seo Taiji and very, very non-idol like. They're extremely harsh/rude and largely to do with anger about toxic netizen culture and possibly the relationship of celebrity-vs-public, etc... I definitely love me some fanservice as much as the next girl (I've been a BL fan for half my life) and Jonghyun is a king of bi energy and I love him for it, but honestly after reading the lyrics and looking at the symbolism in the performance, I feel like the 2 most notorious parts of this performance are actually far less about the "edgy homoeroticism" and far more of a pretty direct metaphor acknowledging the often toxic bondage between idols and fans/netizens/public opinion. If you add up the lyrics, the words of Jjong's fake tattoos, the symbolism in the fact that he's stripped down (vulnerable) while Taemin is fully-clothed (holds the power), then you get this: Jonghyun is the idol ("ideal boy/one in a million" etc. is written on him; his job is to seduce the public with a perfect image), and Taemin is the "public" who now wants everything he can give, can't be sated, wants to take ownership of him (cue Taemin feeling him up)... which makes the handcuffs at the end a very literal symbol; I feel like this performance acknowledges a lot of conflicts he is having... anger at all the toxicity they see online, awareness of how they know that they're selling a falsely idealized image, awareness of how a lot of this system is broken for both sides in many ways... so in the end the handcuffs are acknowledgement of the fact that he's quite literally giving his body to the fans as a part of this cycle and and is beholden to this metaphorical bondage of idol-and-public-opinion. I just feel like this gets ignored because "omg Jjong is hot" and "omg JongTae" but... I think it's far more serious than that. Edited to add: Hmm, since I occasionally still keep seeing ppl getting worried about Taemin's neck in some of the versions of Internet War, I just wanted to mention this: there are stage tricks that exist for this sort of thing and it was obviously consensual and choreographed. a) his head goes straight back and not at an angle, which is much safer, b) ideally, Taemin should be throwing his *own* head back really hard, at the same time as Jonghyun "pulls" with a lighter grip than it looks like, so harder pull = probably more Taemin's acting than Jonghyun's strength. They're smart enough not to risk injury every night of a tour so please don't worry... :)
Another mystery: at a SHINee concert Jonghyun whispering something to Onew and Key giving a death glare until Onew passed along what Jjong said. Then Key smiled at Jjong and Jjong gave him a thumbs up

I read on one of Jonghyun’s fan pages that his mother owns the rights to VCR/inspiration and it’s up to her if she wants to release it or not but they were claiming that she doesn’t wanna have to deal with SM so she won’t release it.
Inspiration was shown as a VCR at his concert ahead of the song's release (there used to be fancams of it on youtube). However some fans recognised the video - as in large parts of it were plagerised. They let Jonghyun and SM know and they decided to scrap the video. Since this was a station song it was low budget to begin with so they couldn't film something else instead and the song got released with no MV. His Mom is right not to release it and it has nothing to do with SM.
They said it was for plagiarism, but what it’s suspicious and so so so difficult to copy an entire MV but having the song released. So what you said make sense!!
So, I have a theory on the "why did Jonghyun really go to clubs?" one. I suffer with pretty bad depression, and when it is at it's worst, I like to go to nightclubs to be around people who are just enjoying themselves, it makes me feel a little bit of the enjoyment too. What if Jjong was the same, since he also suffered with depression?
As a person who also suffers depression I agree, and sometimes music makes you feel good and that kind of environment like makes you feel a little better, when I am in that mood I like to be by myself and listen to music to feel just a little bit better and he said he went to listen to music, so maybe it had the same effect on him
For the different choreography, I thought this is kind of a SHINee's culture because it keeps happening in their MV/dance practice to actual performance, what I notice is Ring Ding Dong, Everybody, Sherlock, View, and Lucifer
