I love the vibe of J.J.'s set - looks like everyone's really in the zone and still having a good time. Keeping the energy up is part of a directors job, right?
Wish they made more of these; I love seeing what goes on behind the scenes.
@Cyrus McWind What do you mean? Even in Rise of skywalker actors seem comfortable working with him
6:05 So THAT'S how he does his lens flares...
This is my dream to be a part of a films production. Writing, directing, editing, cinematography, acting I wanna do it all :) wish me luck people
well it is possible good luck man
+Alex Matthew Thank you friend :-)
SpinTic np
+SpinTic Good luck as well!
+SpinTic good luck random internet denizen
Chris Pine is so dashing when he acts heroic.
2:40 'All systems nominal captain, warp avwailable at your command' Lovely bloke .. RIP Anton Yelchin.
Aw. So sad to see Anton... R.I.P.
I think he died 2 or 3 days before Beyond was released publicly... As far as I know.
ɷɷɷɷ I Haveeee Watchedddd Thiss Movieee Leakedddd Versionn Heree : - t.co/SjZpZXw5gt
its amazing how they can just spring into character out of nowhere and without any music I mean its so awkward and they do so well
I'm glad J.J. Abrams didn't use Forced Lens Flare in "Star Wars The Force Awakens"
He never did. the flares are from a special camera.
"Forced"
Heh heh 😏
Benedict is just so good an actor he doesn't make mistakes...
5:12 I love Spock's offended stare at Carol
i came here expecting bloopers......great to see the set and camera angles on cameras and actors....and no bloopers :I . Great >_>
Ohh that's where the flare coming from? JJ Abrams did some magic spell :) JJ Abrams one of my favs.
I loooooooooooove these extras! I get so much joy out of watching them act and seeing how its all done!
Why no Benedict, AT ALL?!!
Amelia Tran Right you are.
Benedict makes no mistakes. :)
Amelia Tran This is behind the scenes not bloopers
Annette Davis Thanks, I was gonna watch it.
I love J.J. Abrahams. He's such an awesome director. So original and not afraid to try new things. And very smart. Love everything I've seen that he's done.
This didn't age well
@@maouliamediaofficial I think he's still a good director, but I will admit I was disappointed by episode 9
@@crowkid5553 me too. And I'm worried about the Bad Robot Superman film. Especially after hearing Abrams is teaming up with Michael B Jordan and Tah-nehisi Coates. Those two on their own already cause enough damage. But together with Abrams? I can't even imagine how bad it may be
I love seeing how the film was made. And they all look like they're having a blast!!!
"B-roll(B roll, or Broll) is supplemental or alternative footage intercut with the main shot. In fiction film, it is a technique used to indicate simultaneous action or flashbacks" (Wikipedia). This is not B-roll it's just 'behind the scenes' footage.
Anton: *sips coffee* *reads lines* *sips coffee again*
I'm so happy to see how much of the set wasn't total computer grafica. The red forest set really was awesome.
6:03 Abrams and his stupid forced lens flare.
If Abrams' lens flare annoys you, take a look at the first 15 minutes of Man of Steel
I love that flare.
Shuriken Shep Easily amused by shiny things?
CrazyWedz Very easily. I looooooooove shiny things. The Sun is my favorite.
It's amazing how much goes into producing and directing a blockbuster movie. Even the sets look realistic and functional. I don't know how all the main cast and crew handle long hours of shooting live action.
6:05 - OH MY GOSH, it's rare footage of J.J. Abrams actually MAKING a lens flare!
Hmmm...The filming process really seemed awkwardly 'silent' to me.
Good Lord...with this budget...all these cameras for use.
I have always had an extreme liking to the cinematography of these films, I loved seeing this!
my first reaction was WOOOOOAH!!!
Then, 'If i were there, I'd get lost on the set......'
I love JJ direction!
Abbrams looks like a young Spielberg
6:02 lmao I know what that's gonna be used for, JJ.
6:00 I wan't lens flares! Moore lens flares!
It must be amazing for the actors when he's constantly jerking his torch in front of their faces.
3:27 Spock's having a good laugh:)
3:38 - Zoe Saldana is a beauty...
It's amazing to see how much of the set is all real.
As an actor, I can reply to that. You are, in general, standing in a room that has a fake room built in the center of it, with your friends and co-workers pretending they're someone else, while you act like its just you there even though there's a full crew watching, as you try to remember all the right dialogue to say, places to go, and things to do, in the right order.
Best (weirdest) job ever.
'No Cumberbatch! You can't be in the outtakes! You are the bad guy! You cant been seen without dark background music, deep voice and your smouldering!'
My imagination justifying why he is not on any of the b-rolls or outtakes I've seen.
I found this very informative, especial since I want to become a director.
I was expecting to see some actors acting in a green room, this is actually a pleasant surprise.
This aren't the star wars prequels.
When I see this I realize being an actor must be really hard sometimes..
B Roll footage is probably my favourite thing of all time
I'm feeling very confident that J.J. will be a great director for the new Star Wars
.... That one didn't age quite so well
"Warp a-wail-able on your command"
Those actors have a lot of talent! i cant imagine myself acting in that situation. I would feel really self conscious
Love the fact that JJ really takes lens flares serious! xD 5:57
6:00 seconds! JJ abrams! with lights for the flares!!! LOL
Making movies is such a complex, intricate process.
I love that he shot the movie on film. I'm so glad he hasn't moved 100% digital like so many directors did. Lets hope he keeps the 35mm filming alive with Episode 7 of Star Wars.
You know the camera and lens decision is done by the cinematographer, right? The director usually doesn't get a say
Imagine waking up in the morning and that's the first thing you see, him glaring at you like that. LOL.
Great move, just watch it today and loved it. Almost pissed my pants because I didn't want to miss a second of it lol.
oh God, the life of an actor.....what a life.....:) i can't wait for the movie :)
I love how various off-screen characters suddenly develop a thick, Scottish brogue. ;-) (Yes, I know that one of the AD's is Scottish. It's just amusing that he happens to sound like Scotty.)
It's amazing the scale of the sets. When I direct a movie it's either in my college (on the first floor) or my backyard.
6:02 our beloved lens flares!
Being Spock must be EXTREMELY hard. No emotion except when he says... KANNNNNN!!!!!!
Jesus IMAX cameras are obnoxiously loud.
OimhinwwmlMB iopploldie
+Nathaniel Drake Well it is moving 5 times the film twice as fast...
So that's how J.J Abrams does the lens flares. He uses a damn flash light lol
5:56 J.J. Abrams is makin' dem lense flares.
i have just got back from seeing the movie at the cinema and is freaking awesome and don't worry everyone Benedict gives the most amazing performance in the movie and he kicks plenty of ass
Yeah, I guess so, I still would've liked to see him in these :D
i think the microphones they use only have a very short radius so they only pick up like the actors they are over. all other sounds (doors opening, foot steps, cars, computers beeping, clothes rustling, etc) are added later by a sound artist (I forget the name)
my fan girl came screaming out of me at 5:43
omg x-x
In fact, DeForest Kelley (Bones on "Star Trek" the show) was really, really shy. He couldn't have been on the stage of a theatre or so, only in front of a camera.
J J and his magic torch!
I'm feeling more confident about the upcoming Star Wars movies now.
THE FLASHLIGHT
ARE YOU CREATING LENS FLARES JJ
This is not a blooper reel...just a behind the scenes featurette. Fun all the same.
It's funny how we get to see the famous "lens-effect" in practice.
3:52 Those being common film cameras, how can the production see what they are shooting simoltaneously?
Rodrigo Moreno Digital attached to traditional.
Lol the lens flares at 6:09
From my experience in acting, there's a couple ways. Microphones usually have a dead cat or zeppelin cover to block out background noises, like wind Also it is directional and only gets the audio at the actor it's pointed at, so audio is recorded generally for one person at a time, and it's synced in post. In the cases that you do have back background noise you dub it in post through ADR, which is just recording audio in a sound booth, actors repeating their lines. It's a tedious process though.
Acting is a hard job, we tend to think celebs have some kind of easy-rosy life but staying hours and hours shooting images without seeing what we actually see on the final product takes a lot of energy and concentration, just wao, hands down
dude their sets are so legit
It's so strange to see Spock laugh haha
just awesome, usually big box office films like that come out in france before the US, but not this time we will get it with a month delai
So that's what the doors really sound like when they open....btw this is awesome i love behind the scenes stuff, it gives insight you otherwise would never have.
Oh my god the captain's chair spins...
6:03 well, now we know who's responsible for those damn lens flares...
so much fun to watch B-roll behind the scenes stuff.
The noise those doors really make.... dammit meg.
So that's where the lense flares came from.
Just saw this movie tonight so awesome spok has no expression like my cat
Chris pine is just gorgeous ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Probably, "Dude, how the fuck d'you have this? This thing is ANCIENT!"
oh my god The forest wasnt CGI?! This is film making right here!!
Hopefully this carries over to Star Wars. It'll fix all of the dislocated hallways and impossible angles. Not to mention, actually immerse you.
None of these ever have Benedict. Damnit, why must he be so perfect...
J.J. Abrams looks like Leonard Hofstadter in Big Bang Theory :D
Seriously, even Abram grabbed a light and started waving it around to simulate the ship underwater. Maybe the writing wasn't on par in this film, but the directing certainly was.
Because he is re-playing a character that was invented in 1967, where the actor at the time chose to go that direction with his accent. Of course it's a little silly but THAT is Chekov. I'm sure you'll get over it.
Nah, it's not that awkward. I do community acting were I live and when you've been working on a script for months it's just natural. One moment we can all be in the green room laughing and chatting and you here that you're on deck and you get into character. A lot of us like to warm up on deck as well. It's all part of the fun. You just act, and the audience melds into the background. Granted, performing in front of 600+ people is different than an audience of 30 but the principles the same.
and acting for camera is way different than stage acting, can't speak for that style.
Love this new crew!!! Awesome movie! GO SEE IT!!
its nice to see things from this angle! more of these
I agree with everything you wrote. the haters are just being snubs and most of the times not even fans of TOS
Probably cause this was put online 10 days before STID came out in theaters and at this point they were trying to keep Benedict's character a secret still
Mostly because they're so quiet, good for capturing audio on set
Man I have to give it to these people, some of these scenes would have been awkward as hell to film haha
The red forest is so cool!
No there's no Ben but look at all the Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto! Simon Pegg in a hat! Chekov! :D
J.j. has badass hair!
