- Countryballs - History of South America
South America is a warm continent with constant wars and unstable situations. This is the only thing most people know about this continent. However, its history is very interesting and long. Before Europeans came to this continent, it was inhabited by Indians who came from North America. Around the 9th century, the first powerful Indian state was formed - the kingdom of Kusto, which was later replaced by the Inca Empire, which still amazes people today with its structure for such an isolated continent. After Columbus' expedition, the Portuguese were the first to colonize the continent. They landed in Brazil in the 15th century and established a colony. Soon the Spanish became interested in the new continent to the south and began colonizing, taking over the territories of present-day Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, Peru and Chile and Uruguay. Soon after, new European expeditions sailed to the continent, the Dutch occupied the territories of Surinam and Guyana, and the French occupied the territories of Guiana, which remain French to this day. During the decline of the Iberian Union, the Dutch attempted to invade Brazil, but a well-organized Portuguese army soon drove them from the continent. The Dutch colonies were disputed territories, claimed by the English in addition to the Dutch themselves, and there were disputes over this issue that are reflected in present-day Suriname and Guyana. The countries will gain independence soon, but to find out when Brazil Gained independence? Or when did Argentina gain independence? And you will find out how it all happened if you watch this video on the Canvas Countryballs channel on the map in the animated Countryball genre

Why does everyone make the same mistake?
When Portugal was part of the Iberian Union (pretty much the same as the United Kingdom), it still had complete sovereignty of its overseas colonies, had its own language, culture, courts, its own nobility etc. So the color should have not turned red, or maybe green with red stripes just to show there was an alliance in effect.
Not to mention, Spain didn't exist back then, but the Crown of Castille and Aragon. Spain only became a country after the War of Spanish Succession in the 18th century, that merged both crowns into what we now call "Spain".
I knew about this, but Spain was a more powerful state, so I decided to depict it like this
@@CanvasCountryBalls Was it tho? Portugal had the strongest navy in the world in 16th century. Heck, when Columbus came back from "discovering" the Americas, he stopped first in Portugal to tell the king of Portugal, and only after did he went to Spain. Upon receiving these news, the next planned voyages were met with the Portuguese Armada that had plans to claim America for themselves, which forced "Spain's" hand to go to the Pope to try and settle future conflicts, which resulted in the treaty of Tordesilhas dividing the world between both Iberian Powers.
You guys truly don't realize how powerful the kingdom of Portugal was. You know that during this time period of early discoveries the King of Portugal was 50x richer than the King of England, right?
@@CanvasCountryBallsYe, true, they remained independent sovereign empires. I've seen some videos where they change the color to a third one and call it "Iberian Union". That would be more accurate. Either way, nice video.

1. Great Britain Owns both Guyana and Suriname but that should be part of the Netherlands
2. Argentina confederation need to have a better flag.

4. Argentina should not own Falklands it should be part of the United Kingdom.
5. The video needs to be at least more historical about some things, and needs some more events not just these country balls being at peace.
I’m apologize for being harsh, but this video needs to be more historical and more history.
