  • Avanti West Coast services were diverted in July as they were going via the West Midlands instead of the Trent Valley Line as this video focus on the former Grand Junction Railway between Hamstead and Aston. Catching Class 350 Desiros and diverted Trent Valley Line services.
    Also on the day Locomotive Services Limited were running a certain type of train that making it Mainline return.... the Train that never dies, the Class 142 Pacer Train as that was working Eastleigh Arlington to Crewe HS and that is planned to be captured at Walsall Station.
    Also there rail replacement bus in this video as well as this video starts and end at Rugeley Town.

    Great video Simon!
    In a previous comment I mentioned being a Mancuniun the 142 brings back a lot of memories.
    I think the Trent Valley works were because they installed a bridge for HS2 to go under the line at Lichfield. 🙂👍

    • @Sim0nTrains
      @Sim0nTrains  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ian R. The new bridge at Lichfield was part of it but also noticed they did some things at Rugeley TV as well, one thing I forgot to put in the video was some of the photos I took at Rugeley TV of the works as there was a crane on the down fast. Think there was work at Colwich Junction as well but they also used the chance to remove platform 3 at Lichfield Trent Valley as well and put in a temporary footbridge.

    Great video! Love it when Trains get diverted as it feels like a novelty to see more trains that usually wouldn’t be on that route, Other diverted routes include Transpennine express diverting through Calder valley, LNER diverting Azuma’s on the Hadrians wall line onto Carlisle and Through haymarket and Onto Edinburgh and Avanti Diverting Services through central Manchester to avoid Warrington and Wigan. Happy birthday by the way!

      Thank you, I do love seeing trains being diverted as well. used to remember the LNER/VTEC/East Coast Trains Diverts at Carlisle when you saw Class 91s (being dragged by Class 67s) and HSTs on the West Coast Main Line, The Class 91s were dragged along the Hadrians Wall Line to Carlisle and they ran electric to Edinburgh via the WCML, Thank you for the birthday wishes as well

    The only reason pacers were withdrawn was the toilet. Just because they weren’t wheelchair accessible they had to. Got to be pc and inclusive these days; as much can be.
    I enjoyed the video. Plenty of action!

    • @Sim0nTrains
      @Sim0nTrains  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, that is true as they were also not disable access friendly (As you mentioned) which is why they had to be couple to a unit which had a disable access toilet towards the end of their lives, however this Pacer has been fitted with a different toilet tank system so it can be on the main line.

    Nice vlog of the WCMl diverts in the West Midlands Simon. You definitely got some variety while filming. Honestly who ever writes Aston timetable on divert days is mad as there’s a train like every 30 seconds and quite often trains have to wait at red signals to get through the station. Great to see the train that never dies the pacer too. I enjoyed watching as always.

      I can see where your coming from but the information is for context or part of the story on why I'm heading to these stations, yes I could had added 'during the time of filming this video' or maybe added a date when it was filmed etc. But honestly most information on TH-cam ends up being outdated

    Trust me, nobody who had to suffer journeys of over an hour on a pacer for year after year, they have no romantic attachment at all. If a preserved railway put one in front of me I would think of asking for my money back. Only the cravens units were worse.

    Nice to see a Pacer train still knocking about on the railways. I do think that GWR will soon be replacing their Pacer trains with new trains or trains being cascaded from other train operators.

    • @Sim0nTrains
      @Sim0nTrains  ปีที่แล้ว

      GWR removed their Pacers ether in 2020 or 2021 as trains got cascaded, The Class 387s entered service to cascade most of the Class 165/166 to the Bristol area to move the Sprinters down to Devon or Cornwall

    caught the pacer a bit further down the line th-cam.com/video/3sjy8nxO27c/w-d-xo.html, saying it was a stop-gap idea of mating a Leyland national bus and a wagon chassis, it didn't half hang on as a stop-gap, also feel sorry for the pacer driver Eastleigh to Crewe on a nodding donkey takes some doing

    • @Sim0nTrains
      @Sim0nTrains  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. The Pacers did have a very good working life.

  • @nickhiscock8948
    @nickhiscock8948 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The freight trains seem rather short. I used to them being around 1500 meters long in Australia. What is the issue with the pacer units?

    • @Sim0nTrains
      @Sim0nTrains  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Pacers were finally retired from the UK Network in 2021, People didn't like them as they bounced around as it was a bus body on a freight wagon, But this Pacer Train was the first one to return to the main line since they were all withdrawn. As for the freight trains we have a very restrictive loading gauge and have smaller locomotives, which in turn leads to less power being available and hence shorter trains. even know the HOBC (High Output Ballast Cleaner) Train is the longest one that runs in the UK. But I have seen Freightliner running longer trains with a Class 66 Diesel in the middle (Nearly had that on film once, seen it but didn't record it)

    seems daft you put this up before simon your getting boring putting same crap up

    • @Sim0nTrains
      @Sim0nTrains  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems daft? I be happy to give you a insight on why there two videos of the same Pacer Train passing Walsall.
      1) The other video was published on the 18th July 2023, the same day that Pacer passed Walsall as the reason that 26 second video was published is what they call on TH-cam as 'Trending' I knew if I put that short video up on the day it moved it would get notice on TH-cam as it be a hot topic and anything I see that is hot topic gets uploaded on the day or the day after.
      2) So the same video is in the vlog which is 17 Minutes and 59 seconds longer than the clip I posted a month ago and content get reused all the time. Like the footage you seen in this video of the stations I visited will get used in the 'Trains at' videos. There one content creator who I watch had admitted that he used the same clip he filmed in 11 different videos.
      There is always a strategy and a reason when a video is published to try and win the click of the viewer... So thank you for the engagement and know you know the reason why there are two videos
