  • The first Super Bowl commercial I mixed at Omega Audio in Dallas (unfortunately, this is the best copy I could obtain).
This was one year after Apple produced the famous "1984" spot introducing the Macintosh computer, ushering in the modern Super Bowl event advertising.
From AdAge: "Created by J. Walter Thompson, Hyatt's agency since 1978, the ad evokes "Star Trek" in tone, "2001: A Space Odyssey" in its design for the hotel. Watch for the cameo at the end by Bart Starr, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback and coach who played on the winning side in Super Bowls I and II."
All audio was added in audio post. All voices were dubbed in, except Mr. Starr. I especially remember re-recording the little boys line "No, we went to Canada once" and "Wow dad, look at that star!", because that's NOT what he said on the set! To bad the quality of this copy is so bad. You can't hear the elevator door whooshes, the football sound effects or footsteps that I laid in. The up side is that the spot still exists! We also did a :30 version with Bob Uecker that ran the rest of the year.
