An additional convenience would be to use outlets that have built-in USB ports. Then you wouldn't have to use wall-warts on the table. Love the simplicity of your style.
This is one of the coolest things, I'm EXTREMELY inspired to go build a small table. I'll probably steal the same concept but make the table much smaller. The outlet is absolutely genius and very thoughtful.
Oh the table is beautiful. Your explain every step is so valued as it makes it less intimidating for me period. Beautiful wife we glad to see more of her in the bits and your son. Love your vids thank you Becky in Tulsa
The 'portions' we saw are beautiful, indeed. I would have liked to see the finished table ... all of it. We only got to see bits of it at a time. : / It will be very handy to the family, I'm sure! : )
+J Jo Thank you. Since it is usually hidden behind a sofa I was not sure if a wide angle was needed. I will keep that in mind for the future, thank you.
Could install the legs with pocket screw then us side wall to hide the pocket screes etc and make easier to in stall in close quarters etc. but over overall great idea just inspired me as wheel the outlets could be switch to include a sub ports as well
@@mvalovalo LOL, You know that only certain outlets need to be on a gfci and most likely these ones are connected to a code approved breaker in the breaker box or there's an outlet further up the line that controls/protects the whole circuit.
You can get "project boards" at lowes or home depot, they consist of many smaller boards glued together and they are much flatter and smoother than just a regular board.
LOL Really???? You do know that every single outlet box in your house is nailed to wood right?? Wood is also not electrically conductive sooooooo......
That looks great, Jim! I'm glad your wife got in on the fun. The stain job she did is beautiful.
She thanks you.
This is awesome! For mine I'm doing larger furring strips to put the outlets on each end!
Spilling a drink in that sofa certainly could create electrical entertainment.
Great idea! Attractive AND functional! And it does not take up much room either! I'd say that is a win-win-win project. Well done!
+offthehook4u Thank you very much

I probably would have routered the outlet box down so the cover would sit flush with the table top.

+B wynn Thank you very much
Would have better if he had explain how he did the wiring for both outlets
If you've replaced outlets in your house you'll see it's pretty similar
Try youtube. many videos on it wills how you how
i dont have access to these tools but would love to buy something like this, do they sell these kinds of tables with the outlets?
Love this! Now I just wish I could convince my husband to do this for me 😅
Very cool idea and it was cool that you guys got to work together on the project!
+Christian Adventure Films Thank you
yeeaahhh there's no way I can do this haha but it looks fantastic! Amazon it is for me unfortunately..
the plug you used to plug into the outlet didnt get hot, seems like thats not the right way?
You can get power outlets with built in USB ports.
Great idea! I like the idea of the outlets for your electronics.
+TheLightHouseLady Thank you, they are handy.
Loved it!! I'm gonna do mine just like yours.
Awesome, have fun building
That is a great idea. I think I have to make one also. I think I will make it a couple of inches wider thou. I love the idea.
+Dennis Jones Thank you and enjoy building
i love this idea and it would be perfect behind my sofa i cant wait to build this for myself
+phillip fell Awesome, have fun
Thanks for the ideas.
Well done cute stuff.
He's married!
At the beginning you finished cutting the board with a handsaw.....just rotate the board upwards to finish the cut with the chopsaw. Nice table.
Or flip it
I guess this is better than building a shelf behind the couch as this can be moved
Good !!
Oh geez! That sofa has been neglected. It's needs a good restoration and moisturizing.
+Mr. Magic Blox It is old and used often
Good idea, end tables don't always work for you needs or direct light if you have a large sofa.
Thank you

+datawolftech We might upgrade to USB in the future but the fancy versions are about $30 each so we decided to wait.
A right angle drill or adapter would have solved the clearance issue with screwing the legs in.
Nice!
+Teresa White Thanks
An outlet with a USB port might have been a good idea
Sure hope that outlet is on a GFIC breaker. If not, spilling a drink on it could be fatal.
john hanrahan I’m gonna go ahead and they aren’t. Lol

What setting do you put the multimeter on?
busared06 put it on the diode setting where it beeps when you touch the probes together
What sort of board did you use for the top of the table? I tried making a table like this and the board is warped and the table wobbles like crazy.
Mandie Cangialosi a straight board.

Where did you plug the extention cords into ?
+doreen watson-read Into a wall outlet behind the sofa. We use to run extension cords, but not anymore.
Specific Love Creations thanks I was confused because in your video you showed a clip where an extension cord was across a doorway.
Dang, I thought you ran them out the window to a small generator... :D
Like!
Nowhere near electrical code. Cutting off extension cords isn't the proper way to do it.
Juuust a word of caution, be careful when you mix electricity and wood
LOL

@@trevors8577 wood actually does conduct electricity. Not well, but it does.
