Years ago people used to eat on pattal(plate made of leaves). People still do in villages on weddings and bhandaras. Many south Indians eat on banana leaves. Clay pots and wooden ladles are still used in some households to cook food. Using biodegradable utensils is not a new concept in India, but sadly most of the people switched to plastic utensils.

The issue of plastic is from single use plastic bags that vendors use to pack food, vegetables etc. in Bangalore the municipality is so corrupt that waste collection is not done regularly and people throw garbage on the road, a simple glance can show you plastic bags everywhere, people use plastic bags to tie leftover food, waste etc and throw in in road side. The cows and dogs eat this and the filth is spread across the road. The cow dung today had turned a weird green colour and is watery like the cow has constant diarrhoea. Sigh😢

A small business can bear some extra cost involved in the packaging process but the e-commerce websites can't. So much respect for these people. Thank you Ecoware. We as low earning people can't do anything except for choosing wisely and stopping the usage of single use plastics by changing our choices and switching to eco-friendly packages but for that we need options, which can be provided with government reforms only or inbuilt desire like this lady to be eco-friendly.
