Chickens are good for ticks, plus you get eggs. Win, win.
Would love to to have coffee with you 😊
Just wondering, I know you don’t do endorsements but I love Katie’s dresses, are they for sale in Scotland? I’ve never seen them 🥰
@@susieheckles She wears them with style.
Absolutely do not give a second thought when people leave nasty or snarky comments. I am 73 now and I thank God we did not have social media years ago. People can be so cruel. Live your life like you want. You are kind nice people and you hurt no one. I enjoy your show because it gives me a chance to see scenery and a life style that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy otherwise. God bless you both.
Thank you and God bless you too. Kx
I agree , with all that you have said , I’m in my 70’s & I’m also so pleased that I didn’t have the internet when I was young . People can be so nasty now .
I love watching the videos , the scenery is amazing , everything about it , is just so relaxing 😌. 😘
Ignore the naysayers - they don't have a clue.
I will advise one thing - please always use your safety glasses. You are too far from a hospital to dismiss the ramifications.
No matter what life throws at you both, you rise to the occasion. If I was 40 years younger I would do what you are doing.
The lady is brilliant, a real worker, gorgeous too .
You two are hilarious together. Anyone who leaves any negative comments are clearly jealous of your lifestyle. You keep doing what you're doing and we will keep enjoying watching you
My heart sinks when i hear you talk about tics, having had lyme disease myself, know as much about the condition as you can and respond immediately if you suspect you have it.
We learned very early to keep quiet if you do not have something nice to say😂 some people missed that class
Ye learn tae haud yer tongue!!
I saved a sheeps life tonight, just over an hour ago, it was the only brown one in a large field of whatever breed the others were, but it was on its back, legs in the air, and barely moving. I though of your sheep, they look so placid things. By the time I got over to the sheep that was upside down I was knac.... breathless, asked it if it was still alive and it twitched, its eyes were rolled back, so I just grabbed two handfulls of thick woolly fur and yanked it over, my plan was to hold it for a few seconds so it could recover a bit, but it was too strong, it pulled me over onto the wet grass, it fell over again, then it was off like a Red Rum sheep. Hope your both up and running again soon. Great channel - and inspirational.
Nice work! Good man. Sometimes heavily pregnant ewes will get cast, stuck on their backs like that and they can't save themselves. So you not only saved her life, but her lamb's too. 🤍 Kx
It's wonderful that you love your sheep and cats so dearly ❤
There's always one negative Nellie in the crowd! They have no idea. Best to ignore them. I love it when Scott cracks himself up 😆 Ah he's such a character. My beloved Mother and Father always kept chickens. There is nothing like the taste of fresh eggs!! Bree looks so cuddly under the lamps, I always feel like curling up with her, especially because it's cold here today. Thank you my lovelies xx Teresa xx 🇦🇺♥
Chickens will be a great asset & especially to keep those awful ticks away . Love them , so friendly, lovely eggs . What’s not to like .
I miss the Island Diaries . Just love your video’s .
So atmospheric....I have painted my Scottish surroundings from an Island studio for 5 years, it's the atmosphere that never fails to stir the emotions.
God has really blessed you both as you bless the world
Thank you so much. We're really grateful to have your continued support. 🤍
Never realised it took 6 hours to edit videos Scott well done making them for us.I enjoyed watching you with the fish lures explaining what they were all for and fishing Katie x
The filming and editing process takes 4 days out of my week. Two days filming, two days editing. I'm going to talk about this with Katie at the end of the next episode. Many people are unaware as to just how time consuming creating a vlog is.
❤ We really like your videos.
Our opinion is we don't see everything it takes to live and preform your tasks, so we shouldn't judge.
Lol the sunglasses are a dapper look lol.
Katie please don't fall in, don't listen to Scott. 😅
Scott stop harassing Katie. 😊
Great fun, enjoy your life on the island. ❤
Thank you again for sharing your life with us all ❤. So kind of you both to take the time to do thus as well as renovating your home and going about your daily lives. Really enjoy this insight into remote island life. Keep well. Keep safe. Keep happy. Sending love ❤️
Lovely to see you fishing Katie . I wondered why we hadn’t seen you do this before , fresh fish for dinner
Oh no my favourite 2 channels going live at the same time. Scottish isle won
Thanks, Sheila! ❤️
as long as your having fun fishing your doing it right. a bad day of fishing beats a good day of work.
Scott's quite a comedian may he should be called sandy Rome wasn't built in a day the fact you give us 2 nice blogs a week we are quite blessed also at least Katie finds you puns jokes funny even if your humour gos over some people's heads 😊
So many reasons I could never do what you're doing....mostly, people and their silly comments. The Man in the Arena poem. Anyone who has time to sit behind/in front of a screen and criticize others actually living life and working hard, has issues. I"m glad you can get on with it and do what works for your. 38.9K subscribers, not bad at all! Each time I watch an episode (sometimes I watch more than once!), I realize I am experiencing Fernweh! (funny you mentioned Steve McQueen today- I was in one of the local grocery stores earlier today, Ali MacGraw was there-she lives in town and is still lovely!)
10.32 starts stunning images of what makes this isle a little bit of heaven on earth.
It truly is wonderful. 🤍
I watched the diaries, but there were only 3 I think, they are very relaxing watching
A fisherwoman in waders and an RAF A400 Atlas.... think I'm in heaven😂
I spy a spinning Wheel!! Being an avid spinner myself, it would be lovely to see Katie spinning. Xx
Maybe you can give me some tips, I'm a rookie! Kx
I'd be happy to, anytime. I started by just sitting and treddling to get a steady rhythm. Then got myself some fleece, washed it and when dry i hand carded it into rolags. I advise watching lots of TH-cam videos. Before you know it you'll be hooked. 😊😊 @TheScottishIsle
Before 'Bedge' said it, I said "What the curtains". Thanks for another great show.
thank you i love your vids and after watching this thank god your well awake :)
It's nice to see you guys fishing
Please don't let the negative Nancy's get your goat with their comments. They just hate themselves truthfully. You two are the hardest working individuals I've seen in quite some time. Besides how many of those pissy commenters actually have their own island? Not one.
Katie, I don't remember seeing that castle-style spinning wheel in your kitchen before! Has it been there? (My memory is worthless.) Do you spin? Will you spin? It's lovely.
It's so easy for people who don't have a channel to not realize that "somebody" has to do hours of editing to make a nice video. And the filming also takes lots of time. Every time I see a little montage of Scott driving the quad from various angles, I think of all the time he spent getting off, moving the camera, backing up, driving again, etc. But maybe it's part of the humorous schtick of this channel to pretend that Scott doesn't get his hands dirty? We know that's not true :)
I think people prefer to watch you doing things, rather than sitting and talking. Except perhaps for a bit at the end -- it's a nice ending. But not the whole time. Hard to say!
It's been freezing where I am and my seedlings took an age to come up (well, the kale popped up and then promptly got eaten by snails). But even though it's still pretty cold, they've all come up now. I raised them in a mini greenhouse (plastic) with fleece underneath and on top, and they seem pretty happy. An option, perhaps? Must be lovely to have good weather and sunshine up there.
Dear Scott and Katie, I believe you would love the books of Derek Tangye. Derek and Jeannie left their wealthy social life in London to go back to their roots in Cornwall in the 1980s, to a derelict off grid cottage remote from any road, with 2 cats and 2 donkeys! They discovered the true meaning of happiness and solitude. Deceased now their fans have a website called Friends of Minack, and The Minack Chronicles can still be bought second hand.
Scott & Katie, I love your channel and adorable pets, but at 85 I no longer have the resources to donate to my favourite channels sadly, my first ever comment was on the ‘Outlander’ channel some ten years ago, I received a real hate mail, my dear husband had recently passed away, and I had just come out of hospital with a second heart attack, when I challenged that stranger I received an apology, but once something is said it can’t be unsaid, I believe if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all, life is now too short to worry about small minded people who seem to dislike everyone, I was once told by a gentleman it is because they have never had any love in their lives, and have very low self esteem, that didn’t make me feel any better at the time though …… anyway God willing for a wee while longer I’ll keep watching my favourite channels and enjoy Scott’s sense of humour and Katie your endless patience with him:) blessings to you both from an english rose 🥀 in the Derby’s Dales 🤗
As a spinner, I was wondering if you processed and spun your sheep’s wool! I was so excited to see your spinning wheel in the first shot of this video!
Me too - as knitters which you are too Katy we notice such things. BTW love your knitwear and a wee mention about this craft now and then - eg what's on your needles will have many fans I'm sure
I'm massively inexperienced at it, but yes! Normally I use their wool for upholstery, but this year I plan to spin and felt. Last year I made my own drop spindle to practice with before I move onto the wheel. Any tips for me?! Kx
@@TheScottishIsle when I learned, I found that practicing 15 min per day did the trick! I love to wash fleece and (minimally) process it for spinning, then creating a shawl or garment from the wool is such a thrill! I’m happy to answer any questions you may have along the way. 🐑
@@22marketst So true! I was teaching at a knitting retreat last weekend and told all of the knitters about this channel! 😊
@@TheScottishIsle Dear Katy may I suggest Ciasbod a Swedish (utube pods in English too) spinner, dyer and knitter who is very well informed, inspirational in all these areas and a joy to watch. I think you will like her and her latest vid has lots on spindle spinning as well as knitting. Best wishes Della
Chicken poop is a really good fertilizer, we use that and crops here.😊😊
I find it amusing as well Bedge lol
I just want to say Hi From Canada and we have Chem Trails To and I was hoping you would get a fish. Love your videos very much so I will watch more. Stay Safe and Healthy.
On the brand-new foot pump one of the black rubber feet are falling off👍💚
Love the Whitehouse, Mortimer and Ted tribute. lol
I think you're the first to comment on the Ted reference! 😂🤍
26 hours !!! 😂😂😂 Scott, you need to row her out in the boat ❤
I'll ask you this question Katie cos Scott will probably have something sarky to say 😊 but does he ever take his hat off 🤔 Grace from Belfast
Yes. For lunch. And then again at 7 pm when he's done for the day.
Surprised to see the airplane. Do you get many flying over? Do you get many boats coming by? I love Monty Python. I was able to find a whole set of DVDs that has all their episodes! Also a fan of Fawlty Towers.
We do occasionally get fighter planes going over. And yes, lots of yachts moor in the bay overnight during the season. And plenty of kayakers! Kx
Better luck next time you go fishing Katie ❤ I spotted a spinning wheel. Do you make your own yarn ?
Well... I've tried, and will keep on trying..! Kx 😆
@@TheScottishIsle Katie keep trying it takes time. It took me a long time to make enough yarn for a pair of mittens 😊
Lee Majors was also the 6 Million Dollar Man I believe 😊
Check out omlet chicken coops for keeping your feathered ladies safe…I’m always saying “I just want to sing!”
Bedg 👍 was a mix of the two
Scott makes me laugh. 😆
He looks like he is about to go skiing with his goggles and beanie on. ⛷️
As an obsessed knitter and sometimes wild swimmer. I one want to sit and watch the water where Katie is fishing with my knitting and two, want to get in the water and swim.
Scott needs a bench seat, a book and his pipe so he can entertain himself while you fish 😉😉
I know you can feed garlic to sheep as a natural wormer. I’m wondering if it helps repel ticks too 🤔. Ticks can carry disease so i would try and find a natural repellent xx
Guinea fowl will control your tick problem! Just a thought!
Can't believe she's never heard or seen The 6 million dollar man ......"we have the power to rebuild him" ....
You do have lots of smart jackets Scott...
Im always saying to my boyfriend look he has another jacket on so what show off the clothes great style but bad jokes lmfao
If you look after things they last
Would love an rural home in this setting
Katy should hunt for more wild flowers again especially in this season less jokes more sanding Scott
Just teasing absolutely adore the show great record collection great style
Bono 😂😂😂😂😂
You may have more luck while the tide is rising as many fish like to find food from the shore that has been exposed for a while.
I know! It was a 🦩
Glad to see Scott that you don't tolerate know all tossers, ps Alli G
Ali G. haha! Yes!
Chicken poop is the best fertilizer for ur garden
I believe there's airline strikes involving the stewards causing all sorts of flights being cancelled involving luftair airlines. (I'm following a couple who are travelling, who are in Albania & one just flew home to America via Germany, hence knowing about air delays over there) I'm wondering if that is effecting you delivery from Germany
Interesting, thanks! We didn't know that. Kx
A still tounge makes a wise head = a good thing to remember if you are about to make a disparaging comment. Therefore say nothing unless you have something positive to say.
Ticks can cause anemia, if they get lots of them
I’m thinking where’s me gun 😂😂😂only joking 😂😂😂😂
I hit the LIKE button before the video even began because I already know how much I enjoy your episodes. 😁
😂 me too! ❤
I do that every time, because I know I'll always enjoy it 😊
@@richardeasterlow6988 Yep.😀
And me 😂😂😂 and its also one of the only channels where I let every single advert run too 😊
And me too always very entertaining 😁
Scott ignore people with less than nice things to say you are amazing as Katie is also keep your eyes on the goal do not acknowledge the distractions❤
My arms are sore just watching Scott at the ceiling!
Yay Spring! Loved seeing Bree all warm and toasty in her bedroom! To save a few steps, park your wheelbarrow facing the way you will be going before loading. Excited to see you fishing!!
Great idea! We had 6 chickens and still had tick problems. We rescued 6 more and the problem stopped within a month. We have 9 now and still no tick problems. Just be aware chicken math is a thing!
I used to have 12! One tends to keep collecting them, eh?
What a pretty pink tarp! Did you know that if you put the firewood onto the tarp, you could pull the tarp up the incline and then start tossing? An American idea, so sorry. I love watching you both interacting with each other. I could watch you all day. Alas, you are not a 24/7 channel. ha ha ha
You two are great take no notice Scott about the stupid comments ……… actually you made me laugh so much when you were filming Katie fishing and you said 26 hours later 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I really enjoy tuning in each time your both a breath of fresh air ….lots of love to both of you your doing a wonderful job 😊❤🇬🇧
🙋♀️❤️. First of all, the inside of the cottage Is stunning! Second, the island is bursting with color! Third! You two look as healthy and happy as is legally possible! YAY! PS you're both funny 😂😅
Liked Scott’s nod to Eric Morecambe :)
This new channel is a welcome and unexpected delight. 😊 I have been to Scotland and the Hebrides several times and really loved it. So, your new adventure really interests me. So, I am living vicariously through this channel thanks to you both!
Great sense of humor you two have. I thoroughly enjoy your channel. Thank you for sharing your life.
😲Scott !! "could you fall in?" 😂 Remember, it's called 'fishing', not catching... I could fish for hrs and only get a nibble but still call it a fantastic day. Thanks again for the great laughs.
You two have such great senses of humour. I laugh at least once every time I watch
Love the fishing spot.. maybe next time they will be hungry.. Enjoy the rest of your day ❤
more awards for the worst jokes on youtube, ............um........bedge....... man walks into a pub and orders a pint at the bar. He necks the pint in a oner then walks across the floor, up the wall, across the ceiling, down the wall and straight out the door. 2 old men watching him in the corners, one says, "did you see that?" the other replies, "Aye, he didnae pay fur his pint" :)
Katie, you certainly are a grafter! Great stuff
Guinea Fowl are the best tick control birds. Wasn’t the ‘curtains’ from Jabberwocky?
Guinness fowl are so noisy😧
Why are people so critical . If you don't like it folks the dont watch and the rest of us can just enjoy ❤
Just FYI, I personally loved the island diaries.
Me too xx
You need a Harley Davison bike with those goggles😂😂. You have the boots, jacket, etc for the image. Then you get up the ladder and start sanding....what an anticlimax😂😂
Not sure, but I think Katie got a new "Hot Fisherwoman" look in those sunglasses. Sorry Scott... I mean Mr. McQueen. LOL
It's spring time in the High Rockies which means snow. It's beautiful.
Loved seeing your spinning wheel. I kept hoping you'd back up just a bit more to see the whole thing.
I love fishing. I don't do much catching but it's a great time in beautiful scenery.
Scott, I for one wish some of the people I know did "nothing" like you do. A whole lot more would get done! John Cleese to them!
Your episodes are just so relaxing thank you sweetest dreams to you both🌙💤🌟✝️Katie it is better you did not see alot of TV shows
There are trolls everywhere, unhappy souls that have nothing better to do than cut down others. Your sense of humor and banter with each other makes me laugh, thank you!
Weather manipulation is real!! Thanks for acknowledging that 👍🏼
Fantastic guys.Cant get enough of your channel.Love the banter.
Please please if your using power tools wear eye protection.Even a sander.
Thanks for another great video👍
Forget chickens get Guinea fowls are known for their appetite for ticks, and can eat up to 1,000 ticks a day. They also eat other bugs, such as mosquitoes, fleas, beetles, and spiders
So pleasant to watch you casting, with the scenery across the water. It made a lovely , peaceful view
The golden eagle when flying close is a powerful symbol of respect, honour, strength, courage and wisdom toward that person.
Wonderful story Scott told of "The Swooping Night Flight of the Golden Eagle Talons at Eye Level". Amazing!
Another great episode, so love your banter, I have been in stitches laughing out loud!! You make such a great pair! Looking forward as always to your next video. Take care keep safe!
Wonderful episode as always. I sure do love Scott’s sense of humor.
Would love to see more of Katie’s spinning wheel and the fibers arts you do.
Thank you for inviting us into your world and life.
I wouldn't care if I caught nothing, the view from the pier is enough for me. Catching a fish is a bonus. Enjoy.
I just love your videos. I look forward to each and every one😊
Your seedlings have to HAVE TO HAVE HEAT AND SUNLIGHT , It is very necessary, or they won't amount to much of anything. The heat below the plant is necessary for germination. I worked at a plant nursery for many years. We used a heating pad meant for plants. Herbs are extremely hard to start without warmth.
Thanks so much 😊
I admire you both for doing such hard work with your own hands while making all of us out here laugh with your wit and good humor…thank you!
The island diaries are when your format changed to having much more of the two of you in front of the camera and less about the renovations. It was a significant improvement and I commented about it at the time.
Hello and best wishes from Utah! I am impressed with how much you two accomplish
Put your tomato on window sill in kitchen and cover pot with clear plastic bag if seed any good will come thru in about 7 days
Lee Majors - Six Million Dollar Man! I watched Monty Python because my dad loved it, but he didn't always understand the accents. So, I translated. I loved the Ministry of Silly Walks.
Brilliant episode! I loved the island diary's, bring them back!! Our Veggies are just like yours, they need sun, we've had the sleet and hail here too, and it always rains and windy in North of Ireland! Ps still loving the humour! 😊
6 Million Dollar Man
Ha ha, thanks folks . I always get a laugh here! Ignore the nay sayers! There’s plenty who love you, Scott.
Evening Katie,Scott😊
Lo 22:56 ve fishing too. Could you try for early morning or near dusk? I miss the lovely mackerel from Scotlands west coast. Was born there but now live in New Zealand. Warmer, dryer but just as beautiful. We dont have the hisoric buildings and castles and miss that so much. Its such a lovely dive back into my childhood looking at your stunning videos. Thank you for sharing.
Chickens do help with the ticks but unless you have a huge quantity of hens you probably won’t make that much of a dent 💁 chicken poo is great in the garden but huge quantities can be a problem. Maybe the vet could ease your mind re the health implications of ticks every day. There’s always a trade off with animals 😕
