Never would've thought about that before. I've used it to cover Neutral Getup as a hard read and it's amazing when it works. Mix it it in with a healthy dose of Nairs and FTilts and Marth's ledgetrapping gets ever better. Good stuff.
unconsciously I was already doing it, but I never thought of it as a ledgetrap, I only did it because when people do regular get up they tend to shield
If you SH in reaction to anything but getup attack if someone misses tech on plat or do the same to catch tech options/missed tech animation if you get there fast enough can it cover everything? Or cover all but one and still allow you to utilt or fair the other one?
This is an okay video, but shield breaker for ledge trapping is really only for hard reads. At the end of the day N-air is more deadly KB wise and safer for ledge trapping and is quick enough to where you can still apply pressure if you whiff your N-air. If you're playing someone aware of how to play the MU, and you whiff SB you'll just get punished for it trying to charge it at ledge. It's almost as laggy as F-smash and DB. All the examples you showed are people not paying attention and auto piloting options, minus the plant who was probably just not aware of Marth's body having a hit box on the move as well as how big plants hurt box is.
Yeah i can understand. Its best for getting nutrual get up and even though f titl is good at that, shield breaker uncharged kills only 1% later. As for nair yes nair is his best option but this is more about an assist to marths ledge trapping not a replacement, something to keep in mind. I have fought a couple of good marths and i've done it to them and they've done it to me. So yeah i can agree its for hard reads and tbh this is a very unexplored move that I really think its underrated, it has so much range and kill powers. Thanks for the advice, i know that what i meant by ot was not really expressed in how its more of an assist then replacement but i'll make that distinction more aware in the future.
Your point is entirely valid, however if you do get the read correctly (and it covers getup attack, regular AND *sometimes* roll) the opponent can barely do anything. 1. They can't shield after getup, or their shield breaks (provided you charged it long enough, and even if it doesn't break it, the tipper's pushback makes it hard to punish) 2. They can't jump after getup because of their jumpsquat taking an extra 3 frames (you could consider 2 extra frames for the jump to be out of range of the SB). At this point the Marth' player's timing should cover getup consistently with practice. 3. They don't have an attack that is frame 1 or just super fast that can reach Marth before SB comes out and hits them first. Unless you have a frame 1 invincible move. If you do trade, then the trade will most likely be in your favor because you tippered with SB and probably killed them anyway, or maintained stage control. The only real counter to this is waiting at the ledge, or ledge jump. On a platform stage like FD, the platform above Marth covers him, so the opponent will have even less time to punish SB when going for ledge jump. If the opponent just waits, Marth's SB endlag has enough time to finish before getting punished, depending on the range of your opponent. So using SB at the ledge with perfect range is a very good move to use, even vs players who do know the MU. The real thing here is to use it only a few times per match and not just spam SB.

Thanks and yeah its not the only move to use, just another option for marth and another barrier the opponent need to deal with
I use to use it in smash 4 in that way ... idk why i have stopped doing that in ULT. Thank you for the refresh !!!!
I feel thats its better in this game because he does not have his smash 5 jab anymore
Bro I got so hyped !good stuff!! Love it ! Keep it up !
Sweet! Thanks for the tip!!

Im pretty sure cover all but one
Can 2 frame and poke under as well if angled down.
If the opponent is big enough
Just out of curiosity ru on marcina discord
No im not
