man what a coincidence. I'm actually replacing my radiator later today also! And there weren't any good high quality videos on how to change a radiator for an NB. thanks a lot for this, its gonna be great help.
Awesome. Just got my 2000 Miata last week. It needs a new Thermostat so I'm doing the radiator and hoses as long as I've got the coolant drained. My radiator is a lovely green/brown so it's due. Thanks to your error I (hopefully) will get everything switched over to the new one before it goes in the car! ;)
Awesome video .. what did you do with auto-transmission connection points? do you plugged them? if so, how? btw.. i never done this .. but after this video, i will give it a try !! cheers!
Yes, this is the only way to get the air out of the system and it can't create significant pressure with the cap off. It is unsafe to pull the cap off after the car has already come to temperature, but starting from cold with the cap off is okay. Be careful putting the cap on. The coolant will be near 100C or 200F. Make sure to do it with the radiator up (lift nose of the car only) and your heater on full blast 👍
@@HardwayLearning thanks I did, just got done replacing mine. videos like this really help to mentally prepare and know what youre gonna be dealing with. took maybe an hour and a half
Have you had any issues, I'm thinking about purchasing the exact one linked in your description and replacing the hoses as well. Thanks for the quick reply
@@TBMono it's my brother's car, he hasn't had any issues or else I'd have heard about it, but he also hasn't done a ton of miles either 🤷♂️. I think it's fine
Wow, very informative. Will be great in helping me install a new radiator on my lawn mower.

Awesome! Glad to hear it! Good luck on the install and shoot a DM on Instagram if you have any questions!
Thanks for the video! my radiator started leaking. Orderd a new one and installing it in a few days. Thanks for this guide :)
Glad we could help out! Good luck with the install
Firestone was trying to charge me $631.82 for a radiator replacement and coolant flushing smh this video is saving me money
Great video! I would also suggest draining the old coolant from the overflow :)
For some reason I'm always too lazy to do this, but definitely should! Thanks for pointing it out! 🤣

Very good video, thank you! Will take extra precautions not to hit my head with the sharp metal parts, lol.

The automatic transmission section is separated from the engine coolant so there is no need to plug it!
Same question thank you so much for the video!
Really good and informative video, and Kudos for not being boring!
Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate it
Thanks! How long did it take you to replace the radiator?
I'd say it's a 3 hour job if you are taking your time (including jacking the car up and burping the coolant)
@@HardwayLearning Okay thanks man! Btw, is it safe to let the engine run with the radiator cap open?

do you just leave those trans cooler lines plugged? if they arent plugged will it be ok to leave them open?
If you have a manual transmission they can be plugged or wide open, doesn't matter 👍
@@HardwayLearning damn this video is 2 years old and you guys still reply within 10 minutes thank you

will this radiator work on a 2001 Manual?
All 1999-2005 radiators should be interchangeable

you got some weird ah biceps boa. good vid tho
Thanks for noticing!
How did you guys get the clip off the lower radiator hose?
Been a while, but I believe a pliers!
What did you to the parts for the automatic?
We used the same radiator, we just left the automatic transmission ports open. They are their own core
So you didn’t actually burp the car?
You should run the heat on full blast with the radiator cap off and front of the car elevated until the coolant reaches operating temperature 👍
@@HardwayLearning thank you
