To anybody that need to hear it, when he said you wont have a successful garden planting directly in clay soil 🗣️HE AINT LYING. I moved from DE where i had a successful starter garden to NC with pure red clay that i knew nothing about! Needless to say my garden was a fail and it really discouraged me, but glory to Jesus here we are a year later and ive settled on raised beds and container planting. More cost effective for me and my family. Gttg a very late start this year but still pressing forward. Jesus Christ is Lord🙌🏾
Man am I glad seeing that you have settled the family in enough that you are now able to get back to creating your TH-cam channel garden content. Welcome back
Cardboard boxes with leaves, along with old plant matter, grass clippings also help. Sand will also help. I put about 1 inches of small pebbles in the bottom of my containers, plus, buy the cheapest potting soil on the market as bagged soil is a gimmick money taker.....I found a man here on u t who explained it all......happy gardening. Plus I plant by the phases of the moon. Plant above ground plants when the moon is waxing and under ground plants, such as sweet potatoes, irish potatoes when the moon is waning or decreasing.
What about coffee grounds? I used to pick up free waste grounds at the local Starbucks. There are so many places that serve coffee. Free is good, if you recommend we use it.
Great information here! Amazing how hard that clay is…I know you’ve got some woods back there..keep in mind that that’s where God makes HIS compost 😁…gather up all that goodness and bring it in that gate every year…pile it up and use it as an amendment, and as mulch. Will keep that clay from getting so hard.
Growing up my parents had a garden and I remember them having to add to the soil because we literally lived in a county called Clay and believe me that’s all it was!
New to your channel. Love the info shared. Love seeing a man with a haircut. Super awesome! Love seeing that a young man is learning and sharing skills that provide for the family (especially in this day & age of folks looking for handouts). Love that you're helping and inspiring others. Your personality is pleasant and it's wonderful that you don't talk at 60 mph! The presentation is very engaging. Keep up the good work and blessings to the family. Suggestions for things you might like/benefit from: no-water/weeds gardening (see "lazy" gardening with Anne of All Trades, cattle panel trellising with Salmon Creek Living, vertical Gardening with Mini Meadows, leaf mulching, etc.).
Thank you so much …… this is the easiest best knowledge ever shared…. I’m an older person and can’t really do all that bending….. and I live in an apartment I think with your advice I can easily grow me some peppers, sweet potatoes, spinach, green onions, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, blueberries, and I think I’ll buy me a little dwarf lemon tree ✌🏽♥️😇
Good to see you again. Hopefully all is going well with your family and your new home. I’m getting ready to start planting, I’ve had to wait. It’s been cold and raining, late for us in the PNW. May is usually warmer and dryer but we’re getting there. Your tips and suggestions are always appreciated.
Tomatoes can be planted in buckets, BUT you will regret doing that IF YOU DON'T HAVE A STRONNNNNNG SUPPORT/TRELLIS SYSTEM &/or a setup that will hold the buckets in place. A good wind will knock the buckets over with the weight/height of indeterminate cherry tomatoes AND break the plant, so you know FOR SURE that it would do the same with top-heavy larger fruit. There are numerous ways to support/trellis "maters." Happy growing!!
Appreciate you my man. It was through your channel a couple of years ago that inspired me to start my container garden. Keep being great. God bless you and your family.
I've made a lot of progress on my clay soil making a compost of 2 parts cracked corn, 1 part alfalfa pellets, and 1 part beet pellets and adding it to the soil every year. Effective not expensive and judging by the size of my garlic this year nutritional.
I have been looking forward to your new garden in the new house!!! Also another place to get seeds is your local library!! They often have seed swaps this time of year
Hello, I have a vegepod and will be starting my first garden. I choose this for physical reasons so there's no bending involved. Can you suggest a book that will show me when to plant what and when? I live in Richmond,VA and would like to grow sweet potatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, spinach, onions, garlic, and lettuce. The vegpod is six feet long. Can I grow all thses together? tia
What’s up Family!!! Right now is a great time to plant sweet potatoes, bell peppers, green onions, and cucumbers. Lettuce and spinach love cool weather. We plant our garlic in October💚🌱
Hi, Can you just use coco coir or peat moss by itself in the soil? Do you have to mix it with anything before planting in the dirt? I have no clay soil.
You can only plant one sweet potato plant in a 5 gallon bucket. I would recommend growing them in 20 gallon storage containers or 30 gallon Grow bags💚🌱

I’m so happy to see you starting your garden!!!
If you do use coco and compost, i recommend adding perlite or something like it to help with soil structure. The combo is great.
This is amazing!!!!I wish more and more people were like your family brother!! Y’all are an inspiration to this generation 🥳
