Danny Brown and Hopsin's relevance are a little hard to judge due to them blurring the lines between popular and unpopular. Kid Ink had a good thing going on until everyone got sick of him. He, Icy Narco, and G-Eazy are possibly the most generic rappers of all time. Machine Gun Kelly admitted that his beef with Eminem hurt his career, but he's making waves in the rock genre. Don Trip and Roscoe Dash fell off hard. I REFUSE to talk about she who shall not be named. Macklemore is still kinda relevant with songs like Glorious and Marmalade. Future went on to make some of the biggest hit songs and influenced an entire generation of rappers. Interchangeable with 2017. 5/10 8: 2018 Blocboy JB, Wifisfuneral, and maybe Stefflon Don have fallen off. Apart from appearing on Blueface's debut album, YBN Nahmir has been declining in popularity. The dissolution of the YBN collective really hurt him as well. Lil Pump is falling off, which will probably hurt Smokepurrp's success, since he's benefiting off of Pump. JID and Ski Mask are becoming more relevant as time goes on. Trippie Redd is still relevant. In a few years, this might end up like 2007's and 2009's lists. Ski Mask and JID will probably be the only ones relevant by then. 5/10 7: 2020 Calboy only had that one song 3 YEARS ago. Chika was never on. Fivio Foreign is in the middle ground of relevance. I heard Lil Tjay on the radio the other day, but he'll probably not stick around. 24kGoldn had a smash hit with Mood, but that's it. NLE Choppa has many hits and potential. Mulatto is just there. Same with Lil Keed. Baby Keem has Kendrick stimulus and lots of potential. Rod Wave, Jack Harlow, and Polo G are the ones I have the highest hopes for. The list has barely been out for a few months and it's already a mixed bag. 5/10 6: 2014 Things haven't been looking good for Chance ever since that godawful debut album, but he still has time to recover. Due to a combination of bitterness from not going mainstream, dissing a recently deceased XXXTentacion while his GREIVIENG MOTHER was in the audience, releasing one of the worst collections of soundwaves, and getting clowned on by 6ix9ine of all people, Vic Mensa went downhill. Unlike Chance, he'll probably never get a chance to recover. Despite improving as an artist, Rich Homie Quan has fallen off. Although he signed to the label run by Dr.Dre, Jon Connor never really was big in the first place. Jarren Benton was severely hurt by the collapse of Funk Volume. August Alsina is now entangled with Will Smith's wife. Isaiah Rashad is still REALLY underrated. I have no idea what Troy Ave is doing. Kevin Gates, Lil Durk, and Ty Dolla $ign are doing well. Lil Bibby is mentoring this generation's biggest stars. Apart from Kevin, Durk, Ty, and Chance if he gets his career back on track, this class's relevance is mostly "who are these people". Fortunately, this is the last mediocre class. 5/10 5: 2010 J Cole is one of today's biggest rappers. Freddie Gibbs and Jay Rock are also phenomenal. Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa are still doing well. Nipsey Hussle lives on in our hearts. OJ da Juiceman, Donnis, Fashawn, and Pill keep the list from getting any higher. Now we're getting into the good stuff. The inclusion of one of the greatest rappers of all time, along with many other phenomenal artists really cement this class among the better classes. Unfortunately, the last 4 rappers mentioned lower this list. 7/10 4: 2013 After releasing two of the worst albums of 2019, (one of them ended up on the melon's list of the worst albums of the 2010s), and a decent final album, Logic quit the rap game. Kirko Bangz and Trinidad James became one hit wonders. Angel Haze and Action Bronson are severely underrated. Like 2014's Jarren Benton, Dizzy Wright was hurt by the collapse of his label. Chief Keef, Ab-Soul, and ScHoolboy Q are doing well. Joey Bada$$ is one of the best rappers of today. Travis Scott is one of today's biggest hit makers. I was debating if this or 2011 could make the top 3, or if I should keep 2019 out of the top 3 and place the other two next to each other, but 2011 got the edge. 7/10 3: 2019 YK Osiris is currently the only one that has fallen off. Blueface is doing poorly in terms of album sales. Also, he runs what got him big into the ground. He'll probably be the next to fall off. Comethazine, Tierra Whack, Rico Nasty, and Cordae are building their fanbases. Gunna continues to feature EVERYWHERE. DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, and Roddy Ricch are hitmaking juggernauts. Lil Mosey is slowly becoming like the previous 3. This list gets into the top 3 by default. If it wasn't for that, it would get a higher rating. 8/10 2. 2011 Fred the Godson and Mac Miller are in a better place. Lil Twist has fallen off. Last I heard, he is on the album Lil Wayne released this year. Lil B still has devoted fans. Diggy Simmons is irrelevant. Cyhi the Prince and Yelawolf have potential. Big K.R.I.T is phenomenal. Meek Mill and YG are still big. Kendrick Lamar is one of the biggest and best rappers of all time. He literally made IMO the best rap album of the 2010s. Aside from Twist and Simmons, this class is still doing well today. 8/10 1: 2016 Desiigner is the only one that has really fallen off. Dave East, while a really dope rapper, never really got popular. It's a miracle he was even on the cover. He still has a devoted fanbase. Also, is it just me, or is half of this class kinda unfitting? We got a comedian, an R&B singer, and three lyricists next to 5 mumble rappers. (For the record, I do enjoy Lil Uzi Vert's and 21 Savage's music.) Lil Dicky, despite making two of the worst groups of beats and lyrics of recent memory, is popular. At least he's got that going for him? Also, am I one of the only people who hate this guy? Lil Yachty seems to have made a comeback. Denzel Curry and G Herbo are climbing to the top. Kodak Black, 21 Savage, Anderson.Paak, Lil Uzi Vert are still around and making hits. Aside from one or two rappers, the majority of this class is still popular today. This class truly deserves first place. Funny how the worst class was followed by the best. 10/10
Very good ranking, the only thing i disagree is with 24kgoldn, i think that he would be the mainstream hit maker of his class, he can make catchy music, he still just need some time to improve in my opinion, some of the songs on his album were very good imo, but aside from that, very good list

2016 is definitely the most relevant list. Let me explain what I mean by that: it has the most Amana rappers that are still relevant in 2018. There’s probably only three rappers on that list that are not as relevant as the rest of the list.
Opinion about the 2013 class: Chief Keef is still relevant🔥 he never fell off. And I've heard about Angel Haze and I've listened to her. She's like Tink. The only difference is Angel doesn't sing (if I'm not mistaken) she's just not known/big in the music industry sadly :(
Check out "Below The Heavens" By Blu and Exile, it's incredible. That album is why I believe Blu should've at least been an honorable mention for his class.
100% agree with 2013 being the best year. Some people say they need 1 lyricist every year, like this year it was J.I.D. But that year only a few were not lyricists.

Don't sleep on Charles Hamilton! One of the best producer/lyricists of this generation in my opinion. Definitely recommend checking out The Pink Lavalamp.
this may sound like a weird video idea but have you have thought abt doing a video where you make your own xxl freshman list where you take a few rapper from each year and compile them into one list to make “the best rappers of the xxl freshman list”
tyler the creator, jaden smith, chris brown, travis scott, chance the rapper, drake , joey bada$$, and childish gambino are all more versatile than him . Don't get me wrong, x was talented and also pretty versatile. but part of being versatile is being able to be great at multiple styles. Not just DOING multiple styles. whenever x did singing tracks like changes they were cheap and poor produced piano loops. His rock music was very basic and full of mumbling and he rarely did any of his classic soundcloud music towards the end of his career. Believe it or not I'm actually a fan of x but he was far from the most versatile. He had potential though.
Median Sky Tyler likes to troll and sticks w same style of rapping, jaden smith sticks w same style and talks about same things in his songs, chris brown isnt in his generation, travis scott uses same style, chance is ok but doesnt make variety of music, drake isnt in his generation, joey can only rap.. come on man your argument is shit.. X would do it all from singing to rapping to storytelling all while talking about topics like fucking bitches and fighting ppl to asking for change and world peace
Tobie Olson the only person on that list that may be more versatile is childish gambino but NO ONE ELSE there is as versatile as X He does Trap Screamo Metal Pop Rap Rock RNB

Joey Bada$$ is one of the best rappers of today.
Travis Scott is one of today's biggest hit makers.
I was debating if this or 2011 could make the top 3, or if I should keep 2019 out of the top 3 and place the other two next to each other, but 2011 got the edge. 7/10
3: 2019
YK Osiris is currently the only one that has fallen off.
2. 2011
Fred the Godson and Mac Miller are in a better place.
1: 2016
Desiigner is the only one that has really fallen off.
(For the record, I do enjoy Lil Uzi Vert's and 21 Savage's music.)
Lil Dicky, despite making two of the worst groups of beats and lyrics of recent memory, is popular.
Where’s the rest?
@@ghost-dr1tz patience boi
Very good ranking, the only thing i disagree is with 24kgoldn, i think that he would be the mainstream hit maker of his class, he can make catchy music, he still just need some time to improve in my opinion, some of the songs on his album were very good imo, but aside from that, very good list

I wonder what happens if he thinks we haven’t been doing to much.
I already knew 2010 was going to be his favorite before the video because of j.cole. 😂😂😂 much love to you man your vids are azing.
Evan Clephane 2nd actually
17:58 "School boy Q, Trinidad James not a good rapper but I'm just reading off the names" BARS 🔥🔥
The only difference is Angel doesn't sing (if I'm not mistaken) she's just not known/big in the music industry sadly :(
I'd consider you internet famous😆
i wouldn't consider anyone an internet celebrity til at least a million subs
ISAIAHthePLAYAH but a baller is more recognized
ISAIAHthePLAYAH I don't even think a million subs I'd say 5 million
2007 had Crooked I (aka KXNG CROOKED) and Lupe Fiasco... those guys alone make it one of the best classes
I still love kap g maybe because we're both from Mexican heritage. Check out marvelous day and want my ms
Check out "Below The Heavens" By Blu and Exile, it's incredible. That album is why I believe Blu should've at least been an honorable mention for his class.
I agree with everything on this list except Danny brown. The dudes insane and has a 10/10 album why the disrespect ?
17:58 Isaiah just rhymed but didnt realize it
Um Isaiah why were you referring to Roscoe Dash as a 'she' lol? 8:53. Also he had a really good cypher.
i was think of angel haze in my head who had a terrible cypher
Ahhhh ok lol, I'll give you a pass, I was pretty sure he was a guy so I was really confused 😂
ISAIAHthePLAYAH angel hazes cypher only looks bad because it was alongisde logic and dizzy wright. Her cypher wasnt that bad
2007, Plies and Bad Boosie don’t stand out? What?!
100% agree with 2013 being the best year. Some people say they need 1 lyricist every year, like this year it was J.I.D. But that year only a few were not lyricists.
Well when I first heard him I found it kinda annoying, but then I got used to it. Maybe you should listen to him a bit more and you might like it.
Roscoe Dash had that one banger with waka flocka tho
Roscoe Dash isn’t a female bruh 😂😂
Yep, you’re the most honest TH-camr so I must subscribe
*IN MY HONEST OPINION*

My mans said there was 13 people on 2014 when the cover says “The Dirty Dozen” in big yellow letters.
I think, Boosie is really dope down south gangsta rapper. I say it, beacuse you said he is trash. But other than that dope video as always. Keep it 💯💯
iGenius facts
He signed lil blurry tho
@10:20 You said stefflon don would be the first foreign rapper on here, but Iggy Azalea was on the 2012 list

Dude imo 2016 is not that high
Mkr Mkr denzel herbo east dicky and yachty were the best
Mkr Mkr 2017 was better than 2016 and 2015

Jarren is a legend. Grandma's Basement and Slow Motion LP are amazing.
WHERES THE SLOTH INTRO
Cover for 2014 xxl freshmen class says Dirty Dozen and he says there’s 13 that year😂
Yo you called Roscoe Dash a female 😂😂😂.
my 1. was 2016, the cypher just had so much chemistry it was funny watching the 5 guys in the back hyping the one in the front up.
@4:45 Fetty wap dropped an album this year lol
Julius Haberstroh wtf, this is the first I’ve heard of this
ISAIAHthePLAYAH Check it out! Sup from Germany
He dropped a mixtape and an album lmao
Kevin gates is one of the best rappers so underrated he just needs to stop going to jail......
Magazine says The Dozen Dozen and Isaiah says 13 people. Lol
Mr.Coolpants he said there were 11 before that 🤣
You need to listen to below the heavens by Blu, in my opinion a top 10 album of all time. Blu is probably a top 10 lyricist of all time easily.

About a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees is just blue

Blu and exile’s “below the heavens” is a classic album. Fucking dope.
If u wanna turn up look up lil pump had
Lil Pump is shit
Thank you for taking my suggestion
G herbo was the best one from 2016
Mannnnnn I love your opinion on the 2017 class. Amine and KYLE are so fucking underrated
A Boggie is good asf
Don't sleep on Charles Hamilton! One of the best producer/lyricists of this generation in my opinion. Definitely recommend checking out The Pink Lavalamp.
J.I.D is definitely the best this year
2014 literally says the dirty dozen and this man said there’s 13 on there 🤦♂️
U sleeping on a boogie
nah i said i like him and I really enjoy a handful of his songs but majority of his songs are really bland
LWT 2K fr 🐐
Naw he’s ass
LWT 2K facts
lil_Shonen47 hoodie szn👀👀
the 2016 cypher with uzi etc is the most entertaining
IMO smokepurpp is better than lil pump 😭
Agreed pump uses the worst beats
You must not have heard rich homie’s most recent album “Rich as in Spirit” lol

this may sound like a weird video idea but have you have thought abt doing a video where you make your own xxl freshman list where you take a few rapper from each year and compile them into one list to make “the best rappers of the xxl freshman list”
If they want a British rapper just get scarlxrd on there...
Thatkidfrom theplay KEEP MY MUTHUFUCKIN NAME OUT YOURRR MOUTH YOU DONT KNOOOW ME!!!
Antonio Foe you’re right who are you?
\\ the best teeth in the fucking game // tf nigga
My mans uploaded 👌
Rip x but he ain’t the most versatile artist of the generation AT ALL
Median Sky Yes he is easily. Who’s more versatile than X?
tyler the creator, jaden smith, chris brown, travis scott, chance the rapper, drake , joey bada$$, and childish gambino are all more versatile than him .
Listen to SIPPINTEAINYOURHOOD, then changes, then hope, then vice city, listen to all his songs and youll see theyre all different
Tobie Olson the only person on that list that may be more versatile is childish gambino but NO ONE ELSE there is as versatile as X
He does
Trap
Screamo
Metal
Pop
Rap
Rock
RNB
youre really fucking putting hopsin next to danny brown what are you on WTF danny super talented
I bet u cant pinn this
Oisin Sullivan he won’t
You should do a video about all of the candidates that were cut off from all of these lists and where they are now
X has talent??? That’s hilarious 😂
I got confused when you started doing 2018 but realised you were doing the class and not the cypher haha. Good video vro!
2017 best year
Ya boy cooper Bailey I like your profile pic, but nothing tops 2013
Simon ravenscroft your right but 2016 yachty snapped
Ya boy cooper Bailey yeah
Ya boy cooper Bailey the main reason I think 2013 is the best is because logic and his cypher/freestyle
Eh
i fuck with you heavy for the cudi support. too many people overlook him but nobody can do it like him.
