Francis seems like the rainman of whisky. The numbers and measurements that he casually drops just make me think that he is making something very special. Would love to try one day when I’m up in Scotland.

It's great not only getting to see where everything is made but also how someone is actually working with the equipment.

I want that batch which has Charles Maclean´s flavour-fingerprint (in the actual sense of the word) in it! I´m up to bidding super-high if he signs it!

I hear he used the profits from the 2005 bottling to replace the bin hopper with a mill plant

+DJ Scottdog just contacted Francis Cuthbert at Daftmill. Here is his response....
“Some one is on the ball. We have just installed a whole malt bin, mill and grist bin in the old kiln where we used to tip the wheelie bins of malt. In fact the guys just finished the install this morning. The electrician still has a bit to do then we can get it commissioned so we have not used it yet but hope to get it fired up in the next few weeks.
      Cheers
      Francis”

Agree this is a bit stilted ... Francis isn't exactly too comfortable in front of the camera and not easy with the conversation - not his fault, you can't blame a person for their style of personality but he warms up as things go along.

The narrator, Mr. Maclean, is a bit intense and forward. That certainly comes across and could indeed make one a little off put.

Francis was not at all comfortable in front of the camera. Actually he and I were joking about that this morning when I asked about DJ Scottdog question. BUT he really wanted to do it....wonderful bloke, just very quiet and likes making whisky more than talking about it.

The presenter sounds ridiculous trying to cover up his blatantly Scottish accent with a not-very-accurate, personal take on what he thinks Received Pronunciation should sound like. All together it has the exact opposite effect than what he desires as he ultimately sounds even more Scottish. Just be yourself.

I should add, Charles father was an Etonian, so I have to assume his son's RP is fairly accurate.
