Long Live the Steam Locomotives, Nice to see that they're many who work hard to keep these historic locomotives around, I cant wait until the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 and the Challenger 3985 are back on the rails.
The Cumbres & Toltec is a great railroad. It's got restored freight equipment and there passenger train rides are fun to go on with there C&TS steam locomotives.
It did its just that the shop forces fell behind and are more focused keeping the current roster of engines functioning during the regular season than trying to bring 488 back
This run served two purposes but primarily was for a test run up the hill to make sure the engine was working properly. It worked out that the cars could be left at the top of the pass with the next cut coming up the following morning with a caboose on the rear
Beautifully. done. You have captured the essence, grandeur and marvel of steam locomotion. Bravo!
9:08 Great job by the engineer to keep the train from stalling, no grip going through the curve.
Great footage. Love these old trains. Hope they can run forever. Keep them running 👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
that final shot was gorgeous ive never seen them running steam at night so this really special to watch.
I am amazed at what I believe it takes to make such a great video. Many photographers posted at strategic locations? Thank you for such a good video.
Great production. Railway preservation at its very best.Long live the C&TRR.
Excellent footage. Top class steam railway.

6:42 I don’t know why her whistle sound like that.
The engine has the same bell as tweetsie #190 but it sounds familiar
I was going to ask the same question, now that there is the 4K option the viewing
someone ought to restore the D&RGW 318 and put it back into service. Currently its in Colo railroad museum.
"Somebody" is you and all others who want to see it restored. If you can't physically do it, Make whatever donation you can afford.
Where was the cabinets?
I think they got out and pushed. Didn't they?
Excellent!
So is this a passenger train or is this a freight train ? So I noticed there was seat.
Spilling all that sand on the valve gear though... :o
My favourite train
Great video. thx.
they run at night too!?
When was this recorded?
great video....what camera are you using?
I use a Panasonic FZ-1000. It's a nice and lightweight camera that shoots pretty well and has some wide capabilities.
Do you know when 488 will run
I would say 488 should be running by next season. As of now the engine is just a boiler on its frame
Okay thanks. I thought it just had a 1472

When filming move away from the roads. The background road noise is annoying. Otherwise brilliantly filmed.
