    There must be an immediate referendum to pull Ireland out of the EU and the UN Security Council, perhaps even out of both the UN and the WHO and also, to pass laws or better still, by amending (strengthening) our constitution preventing any future Irish government from ever attempting to join NATO or any other military or police alliances - the same applies to all of our international/global links, an immediate review of which must be undertaken as a matter of the utmost urgency

    We will always see northern Ireland as part of our country. Dropping the territorial claim was just a technicality in order to have some cross border input in that part of the country. Ireland is one country. God made it so. I am also pro neutrality. NATO and the EU seem to think it is okay for the UK to occupy part of our country but not okay for Russia to accupy part of Ukraine. For the sake of consistency, maybe Ireland would be better off joining BRICS+ instead of staying with the EU.

    Irish neutrality only became a thing in 1939 when WW2 kicked off, deValera couldn't very well join the war on the side of Britain while part of our country was under British occupation without repeating his 1922 act of starting a civil war. During his pre-treaty discussions with Lloyd George deValera had assured the British than an independent Ireland would never take a contrary stance in the event Britain found itself at war again as in WW1. Nor could he join in on Germanys side against Britain (even if he was lunatic enough to do so). Most people seem to assume our neutrality dates from the foundation of the state rather than being a piece of political and diplomatic sleight of hand to secure deV's position. Despite our 'neutrality' Ireland co-0perated with Britain on defence planning against a German invasion of Ireland, returned Allied airmen and sailors who landed here and gave intelligence and an air corridor (Bundoran-Ballyshannon) through Irish airspace to allow British and US flying boats from Lough Erne to patrol into the Atlantic against U-Boats.

    "Neutrality is often an option to take in a world of conflict but many people confuse neutrality with pacifism
    Staying neutral in a conflict means above all standing alone. Having no enemies also means having no friends which means you have a lot of potential enemies, for which you have to prepare
    Countries which maintain neutrality have some of the most well maintained and well-prepared militaries in their neighborhood, allowing them to also feel safe in that neighborhood against any one who might act capriciously
    Neutrality is also NOT a lack of aggression, during WW2 the Swiss shot down both Germans and American planes which violated their airspace
    Neutrality does not simply mean remaining out of a conflict it means seeing everyone as a potential threat to yourself and preparing for such, because neutral countries that don't.....get Belgiumed"
    - Kraut, America's Foreign Entanglement
    Are you confusing pacifism and neutrality?
    "Neutrality is not a lack of aggression"
    If you want to train with another nation to better your chances of your military own forces which are strictly kept within the borders of your nation to defend the home nation yes that still is a neutral act
    A strong military that is efficiently integrated into society has a plethora of overlapping benefits to the host society encompassing social and economic factors.
    However the military must be efficiently managed.
    For example not paying the reserves until their 17th birthday is absurd why not start paying them on their 13th birthday?
    Military drones can be used in a civilian capacity to stop crime in rural areas as realistically due to the rural isolation there is no other method for surveillance in rural areas.
    Vast scope for drones in crime prevention in rural areas.
    The problem is politicians lack ambition and are risk averse.
    ======
    Seven Pillars Of Society
    The Military is one of the Seven Pillars of Society
    An efficient well managed military is part of any modern society.
    For anyone to suggest a modern Western society can exist without an efficient well managed military is absurd.
    The question is how the military of Ireland will be scaled up and where the money will be spent.
    Drones are one of the obvious acquisitions with dual role military civilian use to reduce crime in isolated rural areas with a very low population density.
    The issue is creating an efficient well managed military.
    One example is paying the reserves from the age of 13 not from the age of 17.
    ======

    No.1 for Michael McNamara.
    An very capable and competent independent candidate for the EU who will be an excellent representative for the Irish People in Europe and will not hesitate to ask the questions all Irish people want answered. It is a total waste of time sending nodding head yes men candidates to represent us as you can see from the current group that are there at present.
    Michael has asked many very intelligent questions in the Dáil of our current totally inept government. Recently he asked the justice minister Helen McEntee very basic questions on immigration for which she and her department had no credible answers. Some of his questions had been asked of the justice minister 2 months previously and she still didn't have any answers.
    Totally incompetent!!!
    Believe it or not your vote never mattered as much, our country needs us to do the right thing for ourselves, our children and the future of our beautiful country.🇮🇪

  • @FREE2BEUS

    The hypocrisy of Ireland is astonishing! It has no choice but to be neutral in terms of military participation because in military terms it's like a fly that could be swatted out of existence in a war, but Ireland shouts its mouth off on conflict matters, not impartiality, as is a neutral stance, but on the side of their political bias. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

  • @country_boy_2009
    @country_boy_2009 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I agree with what you are saying about Ukraine and gaze but your idea of keeping neutrality i disagree on i believe we should either stay neutral and invest more into our military force as we have British jets coming into our waters and notifying us of Russian submarines i believe that Ireland should have the military capability to know what is in our airspace and to know what is in our waters because i have friends in the navy and they have told me that there are foreign planes/submarines/ships coming into our waters (most commonly Russian) on a weekly - monthly basis, i dont know if you saw the images of a unmarked military submarine in Galway bay but that is scary stuff i believe that we should either invest in a stronger defense force and/or join NATO so we have a really strong defense force and have the peace in mind that it is very unlikely for a foreign military group/country will attack us. Please think about this you have my no.2 vote and you will have my no.1 if you aim to achieve what I have stated thank you for reading and good luck in the upcoming elections.
