►Synopsis ：
In the 9th year of Wude Period of Tang Dynasty, Li Changge, the daughter of the former crown prince, accidentally escaped from the military coup in the palace. During her escape, Changge encountered the secret service agent of a grassland tribe, Ashina Sun, who was under the pseudonym of Qin Zhun. They got to know each other through a fight and their affection grew stronger. Changge smashed a conspiracy in Youzhou. However, at the same time, her identity was revealed, and she went to Shuozhou to escape capture. She hid herself beside Gongsun Heng, the governor of Shuozhou, to help him resist the invasion of the grassland forces, but she did not expect that the enemy general was Qin Zhun. Changge was shocked and distressed to discover Qin’s real identity. However, the situation in Yuzhou is in great danger. In order to gain time for reinforcements, Li Changge negotiated with Sun. For the sake of the overall situation, she was willing to be a prisoner and taken to the grassland. Then she accidentally learned that the Great Khan had an ulterior motive. Changge decided to temporarily put aside her personal vengeance, and risk her life to save the situation. In order to save Changge, Sun disobeyed the order of the Great Khan, but they were far apart from each other after that. After going through the arduous exile, Changge gradually understood the principle of the invincibility of the benevolent, and finally put aside her personal grievances. After discovering that the former forces of Sui Dynasty were the manipulators behind the scenes, Changge and Sun teamed up to protect the peace of Tang Dynasty and the grassland. They finally came to realize their deep affections towards each other and went to confront the crisis ahead.

Cause I watched Lusi being such an independent, strong, non submissive characters all along. It was tough for me to watch her in a negative role

Both drama series are worth watching ofcourse mainly because Wu Lei is the lead😍🥰🤩🥰 Love this adorable child who's now turned to a handsome adult. 💖💖💖💖💖💖
I watched LLTG first too but I actually think Wu Lei and Dilraba have very good chemistry as well. The stares they give each other give me butterflies. TLB just didn't really have the intimate scenes that LLTG had. Actually, my thought was that Wu Lei and Dilraba have very compatible facial features...beautiful eyes, both slimmer faces, and striking facial features. The two characters they play here(Sun and Changge) are very compatible, much more so than LBY and Shao Shang are, tbh. The only difficulty in their relationship is the fact that they're from enemy countries. Outside of that, they understand each other and have a relationship built on mutual support, respect, and admiration. For me, it really sucked that Shao Shang was so unwilling to compromise and she had such a difficult time seeing the good in Ling Buyi. Anytime a problem came up, she resorted to questioning his sincerity, blaming him, and complaining about him. Girl had zero faith in the person who was supposedly her man. They prob shouldn't have gotten together in the first place, and I still think they should have gone their separate ways in the end.

@@divinearia1601 Changge and Shaoshang had different past, different childhood, and different upbringing that contributed to the kind of personalities they developed and that shaped their characters. Changge had her mother and Leyan by her side who cared for her and loved her dearly, Shaoshang had no one but a maid to accompany her in her good and bad times. Changge was well versed in military and political training thanks to her uncle, whereas Shaoshang had to learn how to survive on her own when her grandmother was hell bent on leaving no chance to make her everyday life a living hell. Changge grew up in a palace, whereas Shaoshang was sent away by her own grandmother to live in a shabby, desolate place, taking advantage of the absence of her parents. Don't you think there's a good reason why she took time to trust Ling Buyi and open her heart to him after what she had to endure for years? How could she easily believe a stranger when her own family neglected her for years and behaved as if she never existed? Her own mother showed more care for her cousin-sister after she came back home and blamed Niao Niao for every little thing. The lack of pure love in her life turned Shaoshang into the woman she became before Ling Buyi entered her life and made her realise she was the brightest star in his eyes. Ling Buyi took time to heal the wounds of her heart and when she finally showed her vulnerable side to him, she got wounded again. He left her for her sake when she was ready to die with him. This broke her into pieces and she became indifferent more than ever. If she hadn't loved Zisheng more than her life, she would never have wanted to sacrifice her life and leave her family to be with him when death was in front of them. To think Niao Niao doesn't deserve Ling Buyi is to believe her ordeals never existed and the small steps she took towards Zisheng were of little importance. Changge and Shaoshang have different battles, different scars. Their significance can't be compared.
@@CX13edits...I completely understand that Shao Shang and Changge come from different backgrounds. My point was never that they came from the same background or that they should be reacting the same way to situations. My original point was simply that Ashile Sun and Li Changge are just better suited for each other than LBY and Shao Shang are. The GeSun relationship is far more positive, more inspiring, more likable, and simply more enjoyable. Personally, I like healthy relationships where two people are selfless enough to try to understand each other and pick one another up during the hardest of times. That's not to say that they never have conflicts, but that they handle each other during the difficult times in a healthy, mature way. I'm not into painful, toxic, and negative relationships where characters spend 95% of the drama struggling to trust each other, and kicking the other when they're already down, which is how LBY and Shao Shang's relationship was to me in LLTG. Shao Shang was basically the reason why LBY's entire plan to seek justice for his family failed. For 95% of the drama, having her in his life only made life more difficult for him despite him thinking she was the right one for him. The bad in her outweighed the good.
I found Shao Shang way too annoyingly self-centered. As I said, I understand where she came from, but that doesn't mean that I have to like her for being that way or that I have to accept her selfishness or her inability to hold herself accountable. I was really hoping she would eventually grow, change, and better herself as a person because of LBY's love. Sadly, I didn't feel that that happened. In fact, she basically just demanded all drama-long that she be accepted for the way she is. She pretty much saw herself as a victim from beginning to end...and was even quite the hypocrite too, wanting people to understand her and to accept her while she chastised/punished others for not living up to _her_ expectations. And if LBY had to "abandon" her, it was because she basically forced him down that path by destroying his lifelong plans/hopes of finding proof through Peng Kun by getting Peng Kun killed off. Despite her claims that she supported his desire to find justice for his family, she constantly prioritized her own agendas(helping the Empress, helping the crown princess, helping the crown Prince, etc, etc), and didn't seem to care about consequences of her actions to LBY. When he would ask her not to do something, she would throw a tantrum about him being controlling. She never acknowledged her role in sabotaging him. Super disappointing. It felt like she was working against him all drama-long VS working with him to help him. You claim that she loved him with her life, but I think that if she truly loved him, she would have been less selfish or, at least, attempted to understand him. The way I see it, the only person she truly loved was herself. She complained that he was controlling, but he basically let her run around doing whatever she wanted, and simply found ways to work around her. She was the one expecting him to be a certain way, and she was the one who punished him when he didn't live up to her expectations(the whole abandonment issue). IMO, LBY deserved way better.
@@divinearia1601 I respect your viewpoints and understand you love Changge-Ashile relationship but I wonder how can the relationship of Shaoshang and LBY be categorised as toxic, uninspiring or not enjoyable.
When I said Changge and Shaoshang had different backgrounds and that contributed to the kind of characters they developed, I meant all their actions were in accordance to their past experiences, not that they had to be similar in every respect. Their ways of treating people, who stabbed their backs, were akin to their respective natures. Changge is a warrior princess, she speaks using her sword. Her physical strength overpowers her emotional maturity. Shaoshang is the neglected daughter of warrior parents. Her weapon is her rebellious nature, her stubbornness. The arrogance of her character that appears "annoying" is reserved only for her foes, the ones who feign to be her well-wisher but harbor malice deep within.

Shuyu is a very good child. He only wanted to protect his family, even if it means betraying the person he loved. His father was loyal but even after everything that Shuyu did, he never complained but was prepared to help his father escaped. I feel so sorry for him.
Unfortunately for him, he's too indecisive and doesn't have the courage, brains, or physical ability to be able to love and protect a woman like Changge. I appreciate that he understands his weaknesses though. He's not the annoying guy who tries to insert himself between two people who are clearly a better match for one another. He's a good guy.

So after having seen the entire drama, I realize that during the drinking game here, Sun wasn't lying when he said he was "from the central plains, born beyond the Great Wall". Granted, most of the answers that they gave were vague, but the only thing these two technically lied about were their names, and they both know here that the other lied about that 😋

@@Jtjnjyj4...I've already seen LLTG, actually. I watched it first before The Long Ballad. While their chemistry in LLTG was fine, I ended up hating their relationship which made me not really enjoy the drama. It's a shame because I'm a big Wu Lei fan and really wanted to like all his dramas. Shao Shang really bothered me because she's way too self-centered and immature for my taste. I didn't like how she refused to grow or to better herself or how she blamed everything on LBY and punished him for 5 years when she was part of the reason why their relationship turned out the way it did. I didn't like at all how she couldn't trust his sincerity and how she couldn't really see the good in him throughout 95% of the drama. It was too negative. Anyway, they didn't specify LLTG so I thought they were talking about this drama. In comparison, I love the relationship between Changge and Sun so much more. It's a very mature relationship where the two characters are understanding, forgiving, respectful, and supportive of each other despite being enemies.

@@kara-xt8qc...correct. In the story, Changge is a 14/15 year-old girl. At that age, it would be harder to tell the difference, especially for someone like Changge who was raised like a male and behaves a lot more like one than a female. Young men/boys don't have deep voices yet at that age.
