Every rescue department should have a drone operator on the team! Every town should have a list of drone owners and have them on a list to call, even dogs are now found with drones! Great job folks, time is of the essences! You done good!
I can actually see this happening. My mom has Alzheimer’s and she snuck out of the apartment complex and got lost because all the other units in this complex looks the same so she was totally lost and it took me four hours to find her……. and it was very hot that day and when I brought her back home, she was thanking me and telling me how thirsty she is and she will not be going outside today and 15 minutes later my mom tried to sneak out again. She already forgot she was…..SMH.
I've been there myself. You can't turn your back on them for a minute they will try to escape they can be little rascals with dementia related illnesses
she has to have dementia.... no way around it... she needs to be protected from herself after this type of incident.... she simply cannot live alone anymore or with whoever is living in her home.... she could very easily have passed before being found.
@@phillipmarlowe0525 Do you know anything about dementia and Alzheimer's? Alzheimer's is a type of dementia. Stuff like this is a caretaker's worst nightmare. Dementia is the huge medical elephant in the room that no one wants to deal with...
As a NP who works in diagnosing and managing dementias, I challenge your assumption of her " having to move". How often is she going missing? And what's is locking her up protecting her from? Happiness on the ?? Family farm? Yes I'd rather freedom, and joy, and die living, than locked up to live an extra five years miserable. So there us indeed a balance, and things to be assessed. But dementia just gets worse.
@@joywebster2678 your last sentence sums it up... it just gets worse from here. this is the first, not the last time this will happen to her and not many people are qualified to care for her.
I hear that is common for those who may suffer with dementia that they often wonder. Friend of mines mother takes off everyday. She's going for a walk. Her daughter is an awesome caretaker and has to follow behind her in a car- which agitate the mom saying she's going to her daughter house. She sometimes doesn't recognize her and talks to her- while looking for her at the same time. It's not easy at all. Hopefully this lady has family too.
Like my grandmother said in the 70's . She said living now is easier than when she was coming up. If we didn't have drone tech it might have been a lot longer before that woman was found, and she could have died.
This story is much happier than the title lets on. I heart the lady. She may have been 'missing', but she wasn't lost. She knew exactly where she was going and King Kong himself couldna stopped her. Thankfully the SCFD found her before Kong did or we'd have a 60 foot tall gorilla that needed rescuing and they don't make stretchers that big.
Glad to know she was found alive. Several people lost their lives in AZ and Utah recently, lost hiking in excessive heat and as result of flash flooding in canyons. My condolences to their families.
This may sound cute, but it's not. My mom had dementia so bad, she no longer thought she lived where she lived, even though she lived there for a half a century. She was sure someone was coming to get her, but she didn't know who, nor where she was supposed to go. I caught her several times trying to leave the house, even though she could barely walk. This turned out okay, because it was a nice day. If it was during the winter, things could have turned out very differently. This is hell to any caretaker....
Drones should be used more often for search & rescue. With infared equipped as well it could easily spot people in the rubble after a tornado hits to search for tornado survivors
They should, but they are very (!) expensive, and the training to be certified to fly them on rescues is expensive. So vote yes when they ask for taxes for this stuff.
First and foremost thank you so much for the fine work that you do within public safety great job! Drones definitely are making a big difference within public safety there's a great organization out there supporting public safety called the National Public Safety Drone Donation Program, when you purchase Drones, counter drone tech, training or software through their partners, not only do you get best possible value, in addition up to 10% of the net proceeds goes back to support that foundation to help underfunded departments receive the same life saving tech. Allow them to quote your next purchase and help support a great program.
Don't judge if you've never been in that situation. It can happen no matter how closely you guard them. I moved in with my mother when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She went to bed early and I stayed up late to watch a movie. Thankfully I was still awake because I heard the door open and she walked out of the house into dark. I don't know what would have happened if I'd been asleep.
@@kaycampbell8532 Almost similar case here. I stayed with her for 9 whole years, till the end. You lock and unlock the door several times a day and very rarely, you're bound to forget to lock. She got out when I was sleeping, twice. First time in Sept 2020, a lady stopped her some 200m away at 8pm and called the police. Police found her the second time, as soon as she turned around the corner. At 4am on February 2022 with -2 degrees C. In a city of 1million people...Yes some people don't have a clue what its like.
@@kaycampbell8532 Why was she able to open the door and walk out? Wouldn't putting a lock on the inside of the door that requires a key that only you have a copy of prevent that? No judgement, btw. I'm glad you took care of your mother, and didn't put her in a "home". We have no idea what goes on in those places.
@royce......The doors had multiple locks but not the type you mentioned. Mom had never tried to leave the house previously so it wasn't an issue. Afterwards my husband installed locks at the top of the door where she couldn't reach them. Alzheimer's isn't a predictable disease, it's progression is different in every patient. It's extremely challenging to deal with.

Love when a story has a happy ending
I love when a massage has a happy ending
Proper and noble use of drone
Weird comment.
Thank heaven the gentleman used his drone to rescue the lady! ❤
I'm glad they found her. Poor sweetheart.
She wasn't lost.
Good job Sumner County!! Thank goodness shes ok.
Most beautiful story I’ve seen all week
Great job, Sumner County, having that equipment and using it to find the missing person before something bad happened. Bravo! 🏆
Thank God that she was found safe
Not enough happy endings like this… refreshing to see 🙏
Proper use of technology is wonderful.
Hero! Thank you for saving this precious lady!
So glad this is a good ending
Excellent work with the drone, I’m glad to see some positive news.

Wait. How long was she missing? How long was she stuck in the field? Whatever the answers, I'm so happy she's safe. Good job youse guys.
I read an article that she was missing an hour.
Way to go EMA!!! That's how it's done, fellas. Ms Betty had her angels by her side. This could have ended so badly. Thank you for what you do ♥
A miracle of modern technology!! Great rescue gentlemen!!❤
Oh, bless her - she must have been terrified.
So good to know she was located and okay.
Drones have done some amazing finds since they came out, and have saved lives in very difficult situations.
So glad to see one good story on the news these days!🤗
Aww, she was stuck with her walker. So happy she is safe at home.

Fake story to sell drones
"Missing woman found by drone". Man that was really nice of the drone. The family really owes that drone a huge debt of gratitude.
The debt they owe is about $2700 a year 😏

Go long distance, which is where you would really need this tech.
