Her constantly going to the bottom of the screen makes sense with her being able to create a door at the back of everything. Plus with her portrait looking like everything is raising up.
More like you got kicked out. She used the door on your back to kick you out to the season you were using, so for the extra stage you gather "the border between the seasons" rather than the seasons themselves, thus there is nowhere for her to kick you out to. Okina remarks that using borders like that reminds her of "someone [she's] rather familiar with".
Just reading the translation of Reimu's Extra scenario, and it seems to be official (somewhat). Okina Matara is pretty much the Tsurubami Senri of Touhou. Not helped in this matter that the whole plot of this game is pretty much a love letter/homage to Len'en, specifically the first game (Evanescent Existence).
It's a bit long but here we go. First this extra stage is amazing. It's completely the opposite of LoLK extra stage. LoLK extra stage was a train wreck. It had absurdly long and repetitive stage with uninspired danmaku everywhere (stage theme is godlike though). Hecatia's nonspells look very dull and not fun to dodge. Her spells are decent but still leave something to be desired. Junko is still BS, and the final spell was a total letdown. Overall I felt very disappointed when I finished it at first time, and I felt like I don't want to touch it anymore. I'm afraid Zun would screw up extra stage again in Touhou 16, but man what a surprise. This extra stage is crazy good. The stage portions are fun, with different enemies and a lot of interesting danmaku that require you to take advantage of backward shots. The boss is also fun. A lot of people think that her nonspells are too simple. While I agree with that, I don't think simple danmaku is a bad thing if it's fun to dodge (like this). Her spellcards, on the other hand, are simply gorgeous. They require you to think before you act. Should I try to go around screen? Do I shoot the boss with backward shots instead of forward shots to ditch more dps? Do I shoot the enemies first to reduce number bullets on screen, or should I go straight for the boss? All of these things make gameplay so much more engaging. Did I mention that the danmaku is very beautiful to look at? The spellcard at 7:27 is my favorite. I've made some touhou scripts in the past and I know that to make danmaku behave like that is very hard. Sometimes it doesn't go the way you want. Sometimes it doesn't look good enough, but Zun really nailed it this time. The final spell also looks really good and suit her character/ability well. All in all I'm really satisfied with this extra stage. I've cleared it 4 times already and probably want to play it more (if I have some free time :V) Bravo Zun!
I agree. But I still think instead of making more characters, Zun should focus on building the existing characters. Like, Touhou is still good, but it just doesn't feel as euphoric as the classic Touhou games anymore with the classic characters.
Well i think Zun made their Danmaku in that way (Both Boring and extremely hard) because Junko wasn't playing around, she just wanted to kill the player. The character would have died if it wasn't by the elixir (aka plot armor). Also Hecatia may had the same purpose until the last moment (Or she improvised spell cards since she has never used them and doesnt live in Gensokyo.)
Spellcard 1 reminds me strongly of one of Tsurubami's cards from Len'en BPoHC extra. Alternating light and dark backgrounds and bullets to cause tracking disorientation.
Out of all the Extras, this one is probably among the easiest I have played. You can cheese a lot of things with the powerful backshot they give you, granted you can manage to power up it fast enough. That said, I like this Extra. It's not repetitive and the gimmick involved is put to good use through the whole stage, which is all we need for something that is supposed to be "Extra".
Touhou 16 is freaking sugoi desu. The music thought make me feel good and the epicness... Zun could bring back Touhou music with trumpet parts again, like old times
Used Marisa in extra, she's both great and terrible at the same time. Her shot is powerful and makes up for the lack of OP homing amulets, so she tends to clear spellcards at a similar rate to Reimu (at least with my crap skills). Meanwhile, her Masterspark is a complete nightmare for half the stage and the majority of the time against Okina, and if lives weren't so easy to get I would have been fucked beyond belief. Haven't tried Cirno and Aya yet, so I can't compare.
I just really love the door asthetic going on in the background

turns out you never even defeated the final boss in the main story bc you "left"

Also the last boss looks like the child of Hec and Junko (Running joke on internet now)
LolK is still my fave and Hecatia is still the bezt 2hu, also mama bear is still better than dis KoiJunKari gurl
i really like okina's nonspells mostly cause they're very reminiscent of yukari and ran which seems very fitting!
11:00 E R E C T I O N
Jeez, talk about a boss that wont stay still lol
I forgot how much I loved the writing in Touhou games~
That last laser in the survival spell makes me want to punch the screen lol
Does anyone mistook her as Junko?
I'm very very happy this extra stage is amazing !!! Zun good job !!!
STAGE 6 WAS MERELY A SETBACK!
Spellcard 1 reminds me strongly of one of Tsurubami's cards from Len'en BPoHC extra. Alternating light and dark backgrounds and bullets to cause tracking disorientation.
Did Seija do something to this stage?

xKrayy BR and mixing it with edgy guitar rift, the rock that ZUN wanted 16 years ago
I can't imagine Marisa has an easy time with this stage xD
Actually, she does pretty good on this stage. Not as well as Reimu, but still better than Cirno or Aya.
I was thinking the main problem being her bomb slows her movement and fires forwards, I'm guessing whenever she can use lasers it's good then

Extra life.... after the end of the stage
Kinda noob but. How do you make the power ups come to you like at 0:13
Just wondering
Because of how high up she went on the screen.
Is this considered extra stage or revenge stage?
it's kinda both
👍
Face the wind
compare to th15, th 15 extra totally disaster compare to this
Can't say I agree but at least this extra is a very good one, not something completely rushed.
her nonespell card is really ez
otherwise is just confusing by some of the backward attacks
望月吉棟 still th15's extra seems more epic to me with the moons and stuffs
So, are male, female, or rather not say?
Hokina Matata
123 door giveaway
I Know Someone have this game downlond XD
god damn moriya
overall this extra stage is good but flames of the impure is so lame it honestly offends me
