The gun you start out with as an American in most ww2 games…. But you run out of bullet in 5min and use an MP40 for the rest of the level.

Now I'll admit this is a bit of /k/ autism but I hate when they have muzzle rise on Thompsons with Cutts compensators, the entire point of it is to counteract that.
A lot of games never recognize the fact that every version of the Thompson smg locks open on an empty mag and essentially never needs to be charged unless you pull the trigger without a mag inserted.
the only ones that don't do that are the 1921 and 1928 models whenever you're shooting from a drum

it has fps mode but its optional and the Thompson's name and gun sound in it is different because of copyright issues. sound is probably computer generated.
Plus you can see its ejecting rifle cartridges. Ugh. :(
Ansab Qalander no need to get so aggressive, it’s not a “modern Thompson” it’s based off either the 1928 or the M1 Thompson, it’s a cool weapon but he’s right it makes the worst sound in GTA - though they may have made some remembrance models there isn’t a “modern Thompson” the last real improvement on it was made in 1938, even then it’s not the one used in GTA - so before you start getting aggressive know your facts. Thank you.
Also, Payday 2 isn’t a WW2 shooter but they do the best in-game interpretation of the Thompson M1928 out of all of them. What difference does it make if it’s an FPS or not anyway? If anything it should be up to scratch in GTA because it’s a classic gangster weapon too - so let’s not blame each other and blame rockstar instead, besides it’s a game, let’s not go head over heels for this very specific argument. We can all agree it’s a cool weapon no matter what period of time.

For payday 2 coming out in 2013 the tommy gun sound design and the game visuals in general are really good
They added the tommy gun in a DLC made in 2016 amd they updated the graphics since then

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam's Thompson is almost on point because the Thompson's rate of fire is supposed to be pretty high while other game's Thompson sound almost like the MP40's rate of fire.
They did the Thompson dirty in GTA V/Online:
- It has a default drum mag as default, but it only has 30 rounds unless you equip extended mags, which increases it to the correct ammount of 50 rounds.
- It's classified as an LMG ingame instead of an SMG, which also explains why it expels rifle bullet casings instead of .45 ACP ones.
- You can only hip fire it, you can't aim it properly unless you're on first person.
It's a cool weapon, but R* missed the memo of what makes a Tommy Gun, well, a Tommy Gun.

I wish gaming companies would do some research, figure out the weapons actual rate of fire in rl and put it into the game that way. That way it’s as realistic to the real thing as possible
Sorry, but it's for balancing reason. If they do so, the gameplay will become less stable
While I believe it should really happen, sadly balancing wants guns to be nerfed. This is why guns like the MG42 get their ROF lowered to somewhere like 900 instead of 1200, or keeping the 1200 original RPM but limit it to a 50 round belt.
