For the mosquito thing, it might help to have an aromatic oil diffuser and put some rosemary oil into it with the diffuser on the lowest setting (cuz the bug camper is rather small), from what I've heard mosquitos hate the smell of rosemary and just kinda leave the air space, and it repels other insects as well. @@Praise___YaH Wrong on so many levels. I don't even want to explain, because you don't want to be corrected. By your own words, I detected that you don't believe anything in the new testament. And if so, you cannot be saved, because you think salvation is through self righteous law keeping. Which BTW cannot be done. It's impossible to keep the whole law, because if you ever broken just one commandment, you are guilty of breaking them all. Therefore you can never be justified. Because salvation is by grace through faith. Nobody can be justified by keeping the law of Moses. Good luck trying to keep 613 commandments perfectly. I'll take grace any day. Hebrews1:8 God calls Jesus God. God calls Jesus his son. God never called any angel his son, at any time. Also John 5:37 says: 37And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. 38And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. That means that the voice at the burning bush was Jesus, not His Father. Also remember that God told Adam and Satan and Eve, about the "Seed" that would come and be enmity between Satan's seed and woman's seed. That seed is Jesus. Jesus is not His Father, but old Testament says they will call the Messiah, Wonderful, Councilor, Everlasting Father, etc. Jesus is the firstborn of every creature. Firstborn from the dead, because he's the first to be resurrected and still living since and is living evermore. Therefore we can call him Father, because he is the first fruit of everyone to be resurrected. Just like Abraham is called our father, because he was first to believe God and the promise was made to him, through Isaac, not Ishmael. Anyone with faith like Abraham, is seed of Abraham, regardless of bloodline differences. Circumcision is that of the heart, through faith in Christ Jesus, not through cutting off of the flesh. Nobody can boast about being righteous because nobody is righteous through lawkeeping. Righteousness is given to people, who believe in Jesus as the Messiah and son of God. He died for us on the cross. Read John 3:16

If you’re open to a suggestion from a vw camper person. You can get rv rated mesh screen (we call it “no see’em” screen) and add a Velcro border then attach that to the surround. Then you can leave the bottom of your tent loose or even roll it up to expose the outside. And going the other way you can insulate things using foil bubble wrap (sell it at Home Depot) using the same Velcro method some the camper side Velcro is the same for body things. If you camp in the winter adding a diesel or propane heater is really easy (eberspacher or propex). Great ingenuity and I love seeing what a person can put together from their own vision!
I would fully recommend that you pick up yourself a Thermo Cell apparatus. "Camping with Steve" recommends this highly for repelling insects when he is out stealth camping. Covers a large area as well. Just the thought of trying to sleep with all those blood sucking mosquitoes makes me itch to no end. Pretty sweet Bug Camper for sure.

When camping on your own, always remember to bring a bug zapper. They save you hours of frustration swatting at bugs. Also, cover your equipment with tarp to keep it dry, and always have a flashlight. Generators and 1 or 2 extra 5 gallon containers of gas never hurt either. Leave the car in 1st gear when you turn it off and apply the parking brake; if the brake fails the car won’t roll. This has been a public service announcement for those that just learned to drive a manual. 😉 Also, add Velcro around the bottom of the canvas. Now you’re ready to car camp in that bug.
@@lkillercaml9945 yeah, for sure. I have a fire extinguisher in my house in case there’s a fire, which there hasn’t been the 5 years I’ve lived here, but I do it anyway because it’s the smart thing to do and a solid backup in case things go wrong…but you can do you and I’ll do me.
Nice build! A few observations: 1. Weather stripping might help with the gaps. 2. Don't pour greece down your sink. Use a cup with maybe a paper towel in it to soak up. 3. Don't leave your backpack on the seat where not nice ppl can see it. Just be safe! Other than that excellent job!! (I'm a bit jelly)
Notice everyone is recommending putting your car in 1st when you park. You should definitely do this, but they all also seem to be recommending applying your ebrake after you put it in first. You should always put the car in neutral, apply the ebrake, then put your car in 1st before turning it off. It makes the car lean more on the brake than on the transmission. Doing it the other way around is bad for the transmission. Don't roll away though, no matter how you do it. Always make sure your stick is in gear when you turn it off.
In high school my brother's car liked to pop out of 1st gear, and the parking brake didn't work. One day his car was just.. gone. He found it at the bottom of the hill he had parked it on. Fortunately no one died and the damage was minimal. I made sure to pick my parking spots better when it was my turn to drive it.
@@Eyes0penNoFear must have been a steep hill and old brakes or old car with stretched cable for it to fail that bad. If parking facing downhill he could have put it in reverse..or second gear(depending on the weight and engine displacement)
@@Eyes0penNoFear lol lots of people think higher gear has more holding power. That's wrong. You bumpstart a manual in second or third cause it's easier. Many people are mistaken about another of auto related stuff. Like somehow thinking premium is more powerful gas that gives their car a performance boost
I agree this is the best way to go but noone will ever listen to this! it is ok to park, leave it in first and pull the brake but shifting to neutral pulling the brake then putting it in first before turning off will make sure you will never roll away and also preserve your transmission.
One other piece of advice for the future. When you do seal the canvas to the body, leave the door open when you dro the roof or raise it, as it prevents pressure or suction making it easier to drop or raise the roof. Personally I would rivet the canvas to the frame and seal it with a good flexible sealant.
Yes, rivet it, and then use a good rubber type sealant. There is a really good red colored sealant that they use in aircraft but I can’t remember the name of it, but I think it’d be perfect for this scenario.
Hey your camper is really cool. As for the bugs, You can close off the canvas using velcro strips attachment. We used this at home to make a detatchable net to make our windows bug proof. I am sure with some additions it is going to look amazing. LOoking forward to more videos.

Sticky-backed velcro would close up those gaps where the canvas attaches. Our old Jayco pop-up camper had that problem in a few areas, Velcro was the solution.
This makes me miss when I was adventuring in my van cross country but ran out of money lol. I would just find a way to make your camper permanently extended to full height, either with wood or metal and insulate it. I would even go over the top of the car even more. If you think this guy should just do this for a few years and then settle down and have a wife and kids and get a 30 year mortgage on a house and all of the stuff that comes with it, well not everyone does that. Maybe he will have this camper for the next 10 years and he will tow a small trailer behind it so that the camper is a bedroom and the trailer houses his kitchen and eating space and may be a little office area. That exterior velcro idea is a really good one, i like that more if you can make it a continuous stripe across each wall on the outside... But i was going to suggest bringing the canvas back to who ever did it and have them add flaps to it that you can fold UP (so you're not asking for a water issue at the stiching) along the side of the camper, and drap inside over the inside "wall".
Dont leave your car in neutral when parked. Can potentially be extremely dangerous, especially if youre sleeping in it. Leave it in gear always:) Love ur vids keep it up
@UC2wNsPEvQaC6eqmuwYTGJlg he is driving a manual car. Always leave it in gear, especially if hes sleeping in there, leaving it in gear is the smart thing to do:)
I’d recommend using an outdoor velcro system so that it can snugly fit around the connectors you already have, that would also probably help with the bug issue.
I know I keep commenting but I know a lot about camping. Lol But this is your first time doing it by yourself and I think you’re doing a great job no worries it’s a learning experience and you will learn as you go along by the following year you will be an expert trust me HAHAHA
An idea for keeping the bugs out. Sew a flap of tent material all around just above the snaps on the inside. That flap will go to the inside of tent to cover the gap. It could just hang on inside or be attached to the frame with Velcro or snaps. I think just covering the gap would do. I would draw it for you but I don’t know how to on here. I hope you understand.

This is funny and cool. This is absolutely me during camping, plus my temper tantrums. I've been watching camping videos for a while now, and this one is more realistic for me.
A nice side effect is that if you have any breathing issues it clears them up a bit since its an antiseptic, antispasmodic and an expectorant. And no, I'm not someone who's into that essential oil stuff, but this one I know for sure helps in some regard :P
@Charles Morse The only oils that work diffused into the air are the ones with menthol but only then there are just less likely to bite

Also John 5:37 says:
37And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me.

And going the other way you can insulate things using foil bubble wrap (sell it at Home Depot) using the same Velcro method some the camper side Velcro is the same for body things.

Leave the car in 1st gear when you turn it off and apply the parking brake; if the brake fails the car won’t roll. This has been a public service announcement for those that just learned to drive a manual. 😉
Also, add Velcro around the bottom of the canvas.
Now you’re ready to car camp in that bug.
Yeah exactly 1st is the hardest to move. In my experience honestly any gear is better than neutral were you're at the mercy of the brakes.
Or just leave it in neutral like ive been doing for 5 years no problem 😉

Nice build! A few observations:
Velcro along the whole canvas lining may help. Sewed on. In addition to the clips for added durability. Also, how do you like the jackery power bank?
your just so positive and make a person feel good about life and living Thank you.
@@xmetrix yep, super old beater car. And now that I've thought about it more I remembered he said he put it in 3rd gear instead of 1st 🤦
14:14 wow…. Beautiful sunrise!
Young man, you are awesomely brave. May God Almighty truly continue to give you wisdom, protection and blessings ! 🙏😊

Might lose a lots of mpg but it will be alot cozier if everything is in place and you dont have to pop up and down every single time. It will essentially be a "mini" van at that point lol.
