This album is amazing. Seems like people these days don't realize artists like to play around with genres. I knew it wasn't going to be Astroworld 2.0 but it's gonna be on the same level soon.
Really no way to describe how much i love this album. Travis reinventing himself while tastefully curating to his OG fan base is something every hip-hop artist should look up to. Production on 10 as always. Travis ain't perfect but this album is pure class

I think this album and Floyd are similar in that regard, in that some songs are gonna sound like random earsplitting noises without the context of the album around it. Pulling a song like modern jam out of the mix would be like pulling the trial out of the wall. Not something you would listen to by itself
The more I repeat the album I can actually build the story he is looking to convey, very well developed not only in production but also in using the lyrics and nature of the features to describe specifics when it comes to the chronological order of the story. Meltdown in a sense is a mock of sicko mode and entering a different stage of what “Utopia” can be within the environment of the beat. Think opposite of Rodeo, there isn’t a happy ending. This album ends with how he is viewing his present moment as part of the music elite and his love for making his visions for the music 100% what he hears.

My first Travis album, I knew a couple songs and features here and there but was never "hooked" y'know? THIS was actually incredible, some of the most gritty, dirty and grimy songs I've ever heard, about 15 of the 19 songs were incredible and the other 4 were cool too. One of the most unique albums I've heard in a while. It's full of personality.

Utopia still has a lot of his style that people have come to like and recognize, you are one of the fans who are an example of that. I can see how a lot of people have gotten used to how good the rodeo and Astroworld style of his music and since there are so many tracks some are of course going to be misses. If anything I would have to give this album a 7.1/10, def his least best album since birds in the trap which is an 8/10, and his albums only get better than that after you listen to his music, if you’re amazed by this you have no idea. Recommend listening to albums in order of date’s release.

Tbh this album feels like it was meant to be played in the background the most out of all his albums. His other albums just feel way more lyrically and production wise diverse, with more beat switching and expressive trap that he just had going you could feel it was more. Yet this album is still of course extremely experimental and doesn’t swerve from his overall style that he has been driven with for many years. And I’m glad he did more of what he knows with than commercial rap that would otherwise be guaranteed hits. Nonetheless still a lot of playin it safe with his songs on this album. Of course most of the songs are a bop and recommend with headphones to listen to it cinematically. Yet this album just feels the most commercially driven out of all his albums, not that this makes the album terrible by many means. Modern jam was the most commercial shit I’ve ever heard from him and that song was still fire. So keep cooking travy patty. Sooner than later.

Circus Maximus interpolates Black Skinhead. Modern Jam is a demo of I Am A God. Telekinesis is a Donda demo and so is God’s Country. Travis co-created the sound of Yeezus and Donda too. I don’t see the issue at all. Trav has always been a mixture of Cudi and Ye, it’s only logical that his art would reflect that while he is adding his own take on it
I like my life better with this album. For me it feels very personal, cathartic and trippy, broken hearted, with the balls to wear his love for Kanye right in front of the world, earnest and novel, yet with deep roots, Great quality at a great price, for me.
Felt like Travis did the "hotel Room" skit on Sirens because he remembered he's been promoting this album as "Utopia" for 2 years and had to make some sort of reference to that. The Utopia theme seems completely forgotten on this record

I appreciate how this album feels like it was made to dive into instead of just play as background music
Tbh this album feels like it was meant to be played in the background the most out of all his albums. His other albums just feel way more lyrically and production wise diverse, with more beat switching and expressive trap that he just had going you could feel it was more. Yet this album is still of course extremely experimental and doesn’t swerve from his overall style that he has been driven with for many years. And I’m glad he did more of what he knows with than commercial rap that would otherwise be guaranteed hits. Nonetheless still a lot of playin it safe with his songs on this album. Of course most of the songs are a bop and recommend with headphones to listen to it cinematically. Yet this album just feels the most commercially driven out of all his albums, not that this makes the album terrible by many means. Modern jam was the most commercial shit I’ve ever heard from him and that song was still fire. So keep cooking travy patty. Sooner than later.

Travis is more gravitated towards the theme of the record more than people think. Just look at Astroworld, he makes the whole album like an actual experience in a theme park. When you try to look at the album through that perspective it just makes sense.

The structure of the songs are just really odd and not odd good. Great production for a feeling only takes the listener so far. Typically a lack of ear worm catchiness is made up for what you’re saying but Travis rapped way better on previous projects and for him to have rapped the most he ever has on utopia and j didn’t deliver it makes me feel like a very “hollow” album. Like it’s aesthetic rap.
Bro thank god Fantano doesn’t fuck with people wanting some Astroworld-like shit. For sure I didn’t expect this type of sound, I love when artists switch up. I’ve said this already too many times, but the my favorite thing about this album is feeling those Daft Punk vibes again after so much with MODERN JAM. He gave me unintentionally a gift that almost made me emotional. All that aside, this album is growing to be a classic. Could be a reach, but I’m loving it so much.
At first I was confident that Anthony won't give this album anything lower than 7 like everyone says.
