Turtles & Seahorses, Family Shore Diving - Abu Dabbab, Red Sea, Egypt (PART 1)

We were lucky enough to spend the last week of February 2020 (Just before Corona lock down I might add) in the embrace of the Egyptian Red Sea. Abu Dabbab is located in Marsa Alam, which is renowned for its sandy beaches and coral reefs. The U-shaped Abu Dabbab Bay is known for its sea turtles dugongs (sea cows) and sea horses. The coral reefs make the beach suitable for snorkelers and divers of all skill levels, and is an ideal dive site for children.

The shore dives are easy, with gentle sloping entry leading to vast beds of sea grass. Marine species that dominate the beach are ghost pipefish, the rare thorny seahorse, orange anthias, parrotfish, wrasse, angel and butterfly fish. In the shallow spots of the beach, you can also spot the bizarre looking but completely harmless Guitar Shark.
We want to say a big shout out to Monkey Divers who were positive and patient, and very family orientated. We would highly recommend them.
