    December 20th, US invasion of the Panama starts now!
    With winds up to 31 Mph, this is going to epic matchup between: M21 Sniper rifle (M1A NM) with the original military issued ART II scope, and SVD (Сна́йперская Винто́вка систе́мы Драгуно́ва - Dragunov's Sniper Rifle System) with PSO1 type scope!
    Both rifles shoot at the same targets at the same time!

      First of all, great work on the new channel I’m really enjoying it!
      I think it would be fun for you to have a guest shooter who is as competent as you are to run the one of the other rifles (wife, kids, friends or whoever you think would work). Other than for bragging rights you could also have a little bet or something to raise the stakes.

      Given, an equality of semi auto platforms for comparison, wasn't the m21 obsolete post Vietnam?

      @@TheDoorspook11c M21 actually stayed in the service past Gulf War. So it relatively had a good run. M24 came in officially on the books late 1988 , but fielding was rather slow…

    I am an M21 shooter. I modified it a few years ago, taking off the ART glass, mounting a different scope and replacing the original stock with an Archangel stock. The difference was dramatic. Immediately after laser bore sighting it I shot three keyhole shots with Silver Bear ammo with a YHM suppressor at 100 yards. I couldn't believe it. With match ammo it is incredible. Rob, love all your videos. Thanks for your work.

      I have to say, I have used the M1A for decades and I went from a Leupold to M1000 ART and standard stock and didn't notice any change. I like the Leatherwood optics so much I put a M1200 Pro on my 6.5 Creedmoor AR 10 and have several Hi Lux 2.5-10x on other rifles (including my 6.5 Grendel AR 15).

    I have been shooting long range for 30yrs and I am blessed with my own 800yd range to shoot at. This video proves that the range of the target is the easy part. The wind is the one thing that gets me when it comes to missing my full size targets. I am not a sniper by no means but I can relate to your frustration when it comes to shooting in crazy wind conditions. But I go no matter what the wind is because it is good practice even though some times the results are not great. I know you feel better after making those last hits, you will be in a better mood tonight. Great shooting.

    • @VintageRiflesShootersClub

    • @oif3vetk9
      @oif3vetk9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I used to really dislike shooting on windy days and would purposely avoid it but since I've gotten into competing in PRS I've had no choice in the shooting conditions department. A match goes on no matter what and now I don't let the wind bother me. Just hold that wind and send it. lol

    • @DANTHETUBEMAN
      @DANTHETUBEMAN 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To me, that's where the shooting is at,, if not for wind it would be who can hold on the bull and pull the trigger, but the art is in hold over for wind.

    Was wondering about ammunition specs for both rifles? Winds holds likely made the hits most difficult at 30+ MPH. That said... M1A NM using a specified original ARTII... I noticed the hits went down for both at the distant targets. Noticeably... the M1A 'system' hiccupped first despite second shot sequencing advantages. Struggling shots where falling low. My best guess is the cams may not be optimized to particular load which would make significant influences to first hit challenges at the greater ranges. Fun shoot and format Rob!!!

    RKB of Sof built a M70 bullbarrel in .338 Win Mag with the ART scope on, would be interesting to see in use , or even better .375HH with 250 Sierra GK loaded ala Federal Premium load it .

    That NDM86 is a beauty. Love the look of the SVD and PSL rifles. Maybe you can call your contact at Palmetto and tell them to make a PSL since it will be faster, easier, and cheaper than their SVD clone.
