Oni main here, I actually made my own Oni guide like a week before yours came out and a lot of what you've covered is spot on man. Honestly a great guide, fantastic job bro 👏
Also I was very fond of this build before the midchapter: Lethal pursuer, pop, tinkerer and no way out. I'm tryna find a build that will work on him from here on so I can adapt to the new playstyles
You're the only person who touched on the whole 'using your demon dash against walls for mindgames' topi, even if it was just for a little, and I have been looking for an explanation for that for so long since I never understood it. I still am more confused how to use it in mind games for loops efficiently, but this gave me a bit more of my foot through the door even if I don't fully get it.
I've been playing oni a lot the last few weeks. The new Recovery and pallet break time reduction recently makes him much smoother to play with. I love using pwyf on him. 😂
This is a great video and I would like to add a bunch of stuff that others might not know as well (sorry council of Oni mains). -I would add that while using demon dash, as soon as you use demon strike near a wall it acts like hillbilly's chainsaw and first frame hits the way. To understand what i mean is this, if you take pig's ambush attack or blight's rush attack or any killer lunge they only hit the wall at the end of the animation, meaning you can swing around objects to get a hit such as hiding your red light to hit a survivor camping a pallet. However for Oni, specifically during demon dash -> demon strike he hits the wall at the beginning of the animation meaning that hugging walls or door ways, low ceiling areas, and even windows make it hard for him to hit survivors. I also believe that to hit survivors vaulting through windows and maybe even pallets, you want to let go early instead of holding the button, so the swing goes over the window or pallet instead of hitting them first. -Also make sure that if you can, sometimes forcing a survior to vault the same unsafe pallet or window mutiple times will help get your power for next time when you need it. -You also cannot use demon strike while in midair so charging your strike on top of a hill and on top of a survivor does not work. -Oni has a unique interaction with pallets when spirit fury is active (not sure if you need enduring for this to work). This technique also works with other killers like Demogorgon and bubba that have a different pallet break animation. So what happens is when spirit fury is up and at any point during your demon strike where you are swinging or essentially lunging, not holding but the lunge part that breaks the pallet, spirit fury activates but you don't get stunned and you IMMIDIATELY can attack the survivor as if the pallet wasn't there. Same with Demogorgon so during the lunge while spirit fury is activat or Bubba while chainsaw is swinging, during the pallet stun you don't get stunned and instead eat the pallet instantly and get a free hit. Works best on Oni since him charging his demon strike in 0.3 seconds as opposed to Bubba's 3 seconds chainsaw. -Sometimes as Oni, downing the last survivor while you have less than 7 seconds left of your power or before it runs out tends to be the most bang for your buck since you can't lose more than 0% power so in a way you save power by exhausting it instead of getting an early pickup. However this can be hard since it requires information to work cuz if you don't know where survivors are you are just wasting your power. -Otz mentioned this either in a video or stream but for Oni, he can actaully absorb more power than he needs to get 100% so sometimes going to a huge clump of blood might not be great if you are nearly maxed out cuz it becomes wasted. -Survivors when unhooked have about 10 seconds grace period of not dropping blood orbs. -Since Oni can see blood orbs through walls, sometimes you can see them spawn behind a wall which lets you know there is a survivor there. -When stunned by a pallet when in demon fury, I do not know whether charging demon strike is faster than breaking the pallet normally, will require testing. -Some skins for Oni, if I were to guess, ones without his armour, so minotaur or his arrow infested cosmetic make it so his walking is quiter when in Blood Fury Mode, as a survivor they can hear exactly where Oni is by the armour clanging but his mentioned cosmetics I believe don't do that so cosmetics OP I guess. -Getting stunned while activating blood fury cancels your power, so no more instant Enduring power activate anymore :'( -For SOME reason one of the killer tips for Oni during loading screen says that using Demon Dash makes your power go down quicker, I don't believe this is true but if it wasn't, why is that tip in the game anyways? -Grabbing an injuring survivor on a window or pallet or in a locker doesn not make you lose 7 seconds of your power so you could theoretically use your power, grab a survivor in a lock and immiadiately get your power back from one blood orb. -Theoretically you can absorb blood orbs but before you can consume them you let go of your power bascially "moving" the blood orbs to a desired location, trash idea but could be useful if blood is a floor below you and you can't quite reach it unless you are in the perfect spot, to move them so its in a spot from below or above to absorb them without much trouble.
Thank you for the guide! Oni is by far, my favorite killer and I do main him but struggle in some situations. Going to 100% practice the flick and camera tricks.
Great guide dude. As a an Oni main a lot of this was kind of muscle memory for me but this guide has given me better ways to explain it to others. Much love gamer. You rock
I'm guessing with the Attack on Titan skin for the Oni you're going to be seeing at least a few people like me who want to brush up on our Oni gameplay or new players who want to learn how to play their first main. Cheers for the great guide!
Really useful thank you. I have owned Oni since he was released, got the adept against baby survivors so I was pretty much an M1 killer and never touched him again. But now I want the down 75 survivors in Demon Dash achievement and been really struggling to use his power. Learned a lot here so thank you!
I just picked the game back up, and because my name I chose to buy him and try and get better, this video is helping me a lot and I recommend it to all other oni players
My oni build is Barbeque and chili, merciless storm, a nurses calling, and spies from the shadows. I know it's not the best but it actually helps quite a bit.
For the 180 just look up and flick with a fast sensitivity if you got a dpi setting put it high if you quickly look left aka throw your mouse across mouse pad like hitting a instant flick. Do that right as you swing. And you will 180. If you look up and do that it helps to be more smooth
I really enjoy Oni's playstyle but he seems very hard to master, it would take a lot of time and motivation... But ever since Armored Titan skin for Oni came out, man I have found my motivation. Thank you for these advanced techniques and tips!
One mindgame I like doing at shack is to demon dash into a wall if I know the survivor is waiting at window and when I hear them vault over I dash through catching them off guard with an easy down
If he had a chargeattack with his m1 that gave him a garantee injure but with a hefty downside of not being able to m1 for 20 seconds as a "last resort" for giving his power that would be nice. And it would be a fun changeup Btw, how do you not have more subs?
I run lethal pursuer, bbq & chili, dying light and then either lightborn, thanataphobia or infectous fright depending on items survs are bringing...4ks almost every game
I like the structure of your guide but you do miss out with a lot of extra info you could give or dont want to give to keep the video short. Anyway pretty nice to see someone is trying to teach ppl oni, makes me wanna make a oni guide myself. But as an Oni main I have to say that you could have explain much more in a shorter way, you left out alot of stuff that would be important to learn. I like your mindset of the perks though, its nice to see that you are not a brain dead meta slave, props for that! Edit: I am not too sure about the looking up and down that you can strafe faster, it does feel and seem to me the same, even after testing it min ago. I would say its just a feeling thing here tbh but doesnt actually do something. Also the classic "look up and quickly down to flick" is not the only way to overflick.
I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but oni is just as viable I feel on console, you can still 90 degree flick with the exception of 180's tho, however it still remains a very strong kit on console and I don't feel he's weaker on console. I say this bc I play him a lot on ps4 and get good results.
Sloppy Butcher and Scourge Hook Gift of Pain. Slow down by full game mangled and hemorrhage and more blood. Add bbq and corrupt and gg. You can swap Gift of Pain for nurses but you lose mangled and hemorrhage off survivors who got down by your hammer.
I learned a lot this video. If you see this, what would be a decent build if all I have access to atm is Bubba and nemisis perks on killers? Rn I'm liking lethal because it helps me get my first hit and start the fun, so I'm running it and BBQ for info. This guide was great, and in sure to check out the written guide. Been looking at oni cause he was my first main, and the new Armor Titan skin has me wanting to play him more.
With 24.5 Lethal Pursuer and Eruption from Nemesis is very good on Oni. Barbeque and Chili from Bubba isn't super great any more, but with the new Lethal Pursuer change, it is still a solid Oni perk. The last perk for that kind of build I would run would be Sloppy Butcher from the base perks. Good luck, friend
@@skrightgames5573 hey, a follow up, still tryna learn Oni, but I've been playing more blight, I now have spirit, blight, nurse, nemisis, bubba, and obviously Onis perks. Soon to be artists as well. Do you mind giving me a build with what I have? Thank you once again.
Yeah, I made that back before chapter 24.5 and probably over-respected Wraith's mobility. Now I would put Wraith somewhere in C, probably between Doctor and Freddy. Myers is definitely D tier though, all of his strength comes from catching survivors off guard and taking good addons. If the survivors are aware, good at looping, and/or if you aren't taking something like Tombstone Piece, Myers struggles to actually perform in my opinion. But the tier list is outdated. Since making it, I have changed my opinion on a number of killers, either due to meta changes or due to playing them more.
Playing Oni is literally like "God, take the wheel!" I can't control his power and move how I want, it's incredibly frustrating. If say my skill level with other killers would be 5/10, with Oni it's 1/10. I'd get 2 kills IF IM LUCKY.
I feel like console Oni is going to be impossible to play, all this gameplay shows large flicks and large mouse movements, something that isn’t possible or extremely difficult to do on console.
i probably have 400 hours on oni and you still taught me something. great vid
Glad I could help! Be on the look out for a build video once the dust settles on the 24.5 update!
For having 85 subscribers, I’m impressed you put that much effort into preparing a video. Congrats man!
I had 4 when I uploaded this video, so how much this video took off is honestly shocking. Thanks for the support
@@skrightgames5573 no way ur new wtf this sounds so professional
I just love the fact that not only is this a great guide, but it's also included in Otz's FAQ for Oni tips.

One thing il say is that during your power blood orbs dont spawn
as a 1st timer you said scotts guide 20 times in the 1st 2 mins going to watch that i guess 1st for reference?
I recently started playing oni and I only really play customs with my homies, so what would you say is a good or fun build I could use?
Dont know what the percentage means but I am glad that Huntress has the most xD Since its my favourite Killer xD
u change it to "Analog app 1 TE" to get the sa soft as Nice tutorialm. Hope tNice tutorials helped!
does anyone know where i can get the pirated version of soft soft
they really need to fix his bugged orb mechanic that is dropping too many orbs
so
....is it still up to date?
Does the same apply to mobile
Playing him on controller feels so painful sometimes.
Everyone should consider forced penance on oni, the perk is absolutely insane
No matter what i do i only do 90 degree on pc 4000 dpi

can you do the same thing with blight?
