Well that is the first person I have heard say unsubscribe if you are not getting what you need from her channel. She also never ask for you to like and subscribe. Was refreshing. I think at this point people know how to subscribe and like.

THANK YOU! You can be a “minimalist” without having that stereotypical minimalist aesthetic. Minimalism is all about having things that have meaning to you, but not so much that it is hindering your life. A clear mind equals a clear space, and that looks differently for everyone!

    • @jencee

i think minimalism is also about having the minimum of items that make your life work. for instance, if you like baking and you do so often, you probably need several baking trays. however, maybe you don't really like cooking, or you don't cook as often, and instead, you have 1 pot, 1 pan, and 1 saucepan and it's enough for you, despite having 10 different baking trays. i dislike it when people suggest there's just 1 way of being a minimalist, and suggest that having a limited and set number of any item is the way to go, because they don't know the needs of each household where hobbies and interests extend past makeup, skincare and reading.

@@TheBlissBean Speaking of stationery and journaling, some people feel they can organize their thoughts better if they use several agendas, planners or notebooks. Others feel that 1 or 2 of those are more than enough. But this is because the brains are wired differently. My concern is what do i do with the used agendas/notebooks... Like, i don't want to throw them away because they have stuff that used to be important to me. I guess i can keep them until old age, and then use them to make fire, or instead of TP ;p

hear hear. I am always a bit shocked to see those white rooms, without any pictures, paintings or COLOUR anywhere. Why is everything greige, from the bedding to the kitchen? To each their own, but clinical does not calm my mind.

I love how realistic your minimalism is instead of the all-white, empty space we've taught to believe in.
It's all about the things you value and keeping things in place that makes it less is more.❤

    1 inbox zero
2 tide computer files (ss, photos)
3 uniform morning/night routine (incr mental space by making routines you don’t need to think about)
4 updating budget daily (keeps things accurate)
5 keep important papers in one place, review and toss unnecessary papers
6 toss items from your past
7 permanent vs. in transit/incomplete items (file away all in transit items into one in transit tray.)
8 cut down list of people you follow
9 tidy as you go (put things away as you use them)
10 do less (reach a level where you like what/how much you’re doing, keep things simple)

You'll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine. Habit will sustain you whether you're inspired or not. Successful people are simple those with successful habits. We get to reach where we are now because of what we constantly do productively each day.
This advice is inspired by John C Maxwell, Octavia Butler, and Brian Tracy whom I really look up to. This is not from me but I strongly agree with their statement that's why I want to share it with other people. I give full credit to these motivational speakers. I'm really sorry to not have stated this previously. Spread love guys. ❤ Always keep safe!

@@nithyasreesathyanarayanan5611 I am a fashion designer. I certainly DON'T want anyone copying my original style without my permission and without giving back credit to me. If everyone is like you thinking that it's not a big deal then I will lose my job. Crediting people is very important because this helps me to keep my job and my income. Don't be selfish and please give credit back to the original creator whoever he/she might be. As a fashion designer, I honestly don't agree with your point of view here, and I believe no one does because not giving credit back to the original designer is just universally wrong, so I think you really do get paid to defend Cass & Bran's plagiarism.

The most realistic and genuine advice on minimalism I have heard to date. Clearly done a lot of learning and realization. I was always interested but scared away from minimalism because the style and decor just really wasn't me. I always felt like, when I tried adopting it, that I lost my personality and a sense of who I was. I like to have a variety of clothing because my style constantly rotates. I'm also more alternative/gothic so there's a lot of things I wear and use that don't really appear 'minimal'. But I too have come to realize that it's the mindset that matters - not that you only own 3 white tshirts, a black poloneck, a pair of beige shoes, a bamboo toothbrush and one potted plant. So refreshing to here you say this. I feel like i can really start pursing this now without feeling like I'm completely changing who I am.

  • @FarAway5319
    @FarAway5319 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

I feel like I’m like you! Minimalism is different for everyone. I use to buy tons of phone cases, candles, shop a sale just because, bought clothes I didn’t need and etc. I got rid of it all. I still buy those things, but I have two candles, 4 phone cases (one is a charging case) 5 pairs of shoes, and I think my clothing is minimalistic 😂 minimalism has made me happier. However, I’m going to take a page from your book and do some email clear out. I’m terrible at cleaning out my emails. Work and personal emails. 🙈

Hahaha. People always say that I throw away 2 much. I had this major declutter few times already and I'm finally reaching a point when I feel like I can start my minimalistic journey.
I really want to focus on quality over quantity idea now. Getting one pair of expensive, long lasting pants sounds so much more satisfying than getting few crapy quality pants from New Yorker/H&M.
Also this helped me a lot with my unhealthy obsession with make up😊

This was a refreshing view of minimalism. Also while watching I got that this had a GTD vibe to it for some reason than you mentioned the book. The book is not specific to minimalism, but I recently read it, and to me its almost like it has a minimalist approach to your mind: write more down and organize your space so that you have less on your mind. And when I was writing everything down it made me realize there's a lot of things I don't feel the need to do anymore and instead of letting them take up space, I can cross it off and delete it. (Though learning the ukelele is going on my someday maybe list haha)

The 10th tip is the most relevant for me. For a person who's mantra is: "to be productive" for every single day - I am also a person who ends up not doing anything on the list. Most of the time, I got distracted to do things which are unplanned because i felt the need to do it, so, I do it. Perhaps, I have a lot of things in my mind, a lot that I can't keep up. My mind is filled with "to do list"to acquire lots of knowledge in this field and that, enhanced my skills by doing another set of requirements, or developed a skill that I just think ... will be a great thing to master. And these file of "wants" and "standards" eventually made me feel tired. And when i realized that nothing has come to pass, I was left amazed of how a failed human-being I am.
So, a tip for myself in relation to your tip, is to be fine and contented of what I am doing right now. To plan with consideration to myself's limitation and to not be so hard on myself.
    BTW, thanks for your video.

I have been a minimalist for years now, but i am adding back a few things (1 rug, 1 painting) for cozy and hygge .. and most of all i have stopped labeling myself as a minimalist (if anything i find essentialist a better word) .. as others would always question me purchasing something, even if i had thought thru that one-off purchase for months LOL .. so i am just doing me now, and no more explaining or justifying 😂

the in transit tray is such a good idea! my biggest issue is mess: even though i don’t own a lot of things it still seems to get so messy in my room every week and eventually it gets to a point where i have no idea how it got so bad. Thanks for the idea :)

Delightful film and I really like you're saying we don't have to do the minimalism thing full on. You've a much more flexible approach. Also, love the jumper!

Yeeees!! I'm glad I've found you!! I always felt weird about being interested in minimalism at my short age, but now there are no regrets at all 🙌❤

Well yeah having unopened emails is a pain and as for me, since I’m a student , those emails are generally from advertising companies so they don’t matter to me. So I just remove the adges and mute the notifications 😁 And also thank you so much for this video, this will surely help me and many other people! 💖

I just found your page! I've always been super self-conscious of my voice and was surprised to hear that we sound super similar... at least on film. I just wanted to thank you because now I know my voice actually sounds fine and cute :) Also, this video was cool and refreshing since you admit your faults with minimalism but stress how you are okay where you are. I sometimes feel like I get stressed out because I wanna get rid of everything to be like the minimalists I see all over youtube, but it's okay to be where I feel happy and content :) Not there yet but getting close!

I love that freeing mindset you have. I do too and try to apply it to every aspect of my life, but sometimes find it hard. Might sound random, but you motivate me to be more creative and to write more music and just get it done rather than want to do it ✌🏼

“I realized I’m ok with what I’m currently doing. I think I’ve got a lot of good habits and projects going
and I’m choosing to keep my life simple by not piling on other things unnecessarily just for the sake of doing more or doing what everyone else is doing.” I am going to share this with my mom the next time she pressures me about how I spend my free time. I exercise, I read, i work and have a lucrative job I love, I make time in my day for healthy habits and systems. Why do I need more “goals”?
