Bookchat! It's like my birthday :D Missed this coming out last night because I was staying up too late finishing _In Search of April Raintree,_ which was amazing. Oh, that reminds me to pick up _Cold._ I love Taylor's stuff. I'm glad to hear about Belcourt's short stories being a bit more relatable. I read some of his poetry and his memoir and felt like I was an English Lit degree away from understanding what he was talking about. I'll give him another go. Hoping to get to _James_ soon, once I get it from the library. I have _Sweet Sting of Salt_ out right now, as part of reading more fantasy this year, though it sounds like it's fantasy light. Wasn't there a book from the 1950s that _The Secret of Roan Inish_ was based on? Someone I know read that recently. Yay! T. Kingfisher!
That's exactly how I felt about Belcourt's A Minor Chorus! I could tell the writing was excellent yet i couldn't relate. Tell me your favourite DHT so i can add it to my TBR. Let me know what you think of Sweet Sting of Salt. It wasn't quite the fantasy I was expecting, more historical fiction with a dash of legend. I'll have to look for that Roan Inish book because obviously, THAT'S the book I've been looking for.
@@TaraPatey I think I've only read DHT's essays and short stories. He has a column somewhere (G&M? The Star?) so I read his opinion pieces and bits in other collections. I haven't actually sat down with a novel yet, though I vaguely mean to read Motorcycle and Sweetgrass. Probably reading the selkie one next, so will report back.
@@justineetzkorn9594 I think Motorcycle and Sweetgrass will be my next DHT. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the selkie book. You should have my email address through Rebecca's group emails.

Happy Book Chat birthday! 🤣😂
So glad you enjoyed AR-what an amazing story she crafted so long ago. And it still holds up after 40 years!
I just looked it up and it is Secret of the Ron Mor Skerry by Rosalie Fry.
