Rudy I've been watching your channel for 8 months now and I especially love this video! I remember back in '96 when I started playing and beta etc weren't that uncommon to see around in people's decks, of course alpha was tournament prohibited because of different corners. Even if I don't mostly like (primarily playing and trading) cards getting confined in hard cases for collecting, I love your approach of the ALPHA cards in this video as they are a part of game's history and all the people should be reminded of it and you are one of the people who actually does care for it by bothering to save old cards as they were and present them for us, old and new players! Also love your Cardshop Life series and I really appreciate your insight you share in all of the videos. Watching this 4 years later, and there are indeed still only 6 perfect 10's graded from Alpha, 11 from beta, and 2 from collectors. 37 Alphas graded total.
The conditions of these cards are amazing. Really miss the old art! When I crack open an amonkhet pack some of the cards come out already slightly damaged. These cards are more than 20 years old and bought in a time with no sleeves or value. Great collection!

Every time I see Rudy going through his binders or collections I just wonder how many millions of dollars worth of cards he must have. Boxes and boxes of sealed product along with binders of expensive rares and this stacks and stacks of graded cards it just blows my mind

Quiet possible, I agree. But there is also still sealed product out there. I know that is going to kept sealed for a long time but not everything Alpha is in complete booster boxes. Single boosters will be popped eventually because of the chase/gamble. So those cards able to get out.
No problem mate. I checked eBay myself because I was unaware and I agree, many offcenter. But I've seen copies that are in the 90/10 offcenter limit for PSA to score a PSA10. So it's possible, but as you say terribly hard to get. I think the PSA10's for these cards are caused by PSA also grading on overall appeal, so even an offcenter card can score a 10 if it's within limits and overall doesn't disturb the appeal of the card. While BGS is a bit more strict on this.
The Alpha Ankh of Mishra is also special for another reason: Alphabetically, it's the first Alpha Artifact card (and many collectors place artifacts first in their collections, especially for A/B/U), so it's Card #1 for Set #1 for all of M:TG. In other words, it's THE BEGINNING of all M:TG collecting.

Actually there were card sleeves before mtg came out, and I know this because I recall starting to collect marvel trading cards in 1990 and by at the lattest 91/92 I was putting them into clear sleeves that were originally meant for sports cards only.
My Good condition Revised Underground Seas are the most expensive cards I own... (They are actually VERY good condition and I was quite happy just how good they were) This video has given me heart palpitations... O.0 Those cards are MY age!!!!
2 years ago i had the luck to buy an ex-nm alpha granite gargoyle from ebay for 15€. the description said beta and the time of day was not very well chosen. the owner noticed his mistake but it was to late. he was so pissed and he let me know it lol. but he still sent the card :)
keep posting these I may have to start buying them,but keep thinking I should grade mine but really cannot see me going and mailing these to PSA dealer and having them. mailing them back meaning where they go I have to be there.

this reminds me of older guys with older cars yes they're cool yes I would want one but I am completely fine with not having one. there was a comment earlier that a guy made about his grandfather collecting a certain baseball card when he found all of them he finally just sold them off because the thrill of the hunt was what he wanted to do not to actually collect them all but this is great that we are watching Rudy do this I for one would never pay this amount for older cards but this is just my opinion.
I assume that this collection must be impressive for those that collect MTG. I collect Pokemon so I assume this is the equivalent to Base set psa 10's or Base set 1st edition Psa 10's. Non the less this looks cool.
It would depend on the card and the rarity. I think generally there are probably fewer graded rare 10s of summer, but there is a lot of common summer magic out there, and even basic lands are worth grading at several hundred dollars. There is a gem 10 Serendib listed on ebay, and that's one of the misprints. Summer didn't get played nearly as much as Alpha, and there is more out there than what people think. Rudy?

Royal assassin i remember playing with that card i would tap there creature then kill it. i thought it was the best combo in the world. Times were much better back then when the game was popular but you were considered a nerd or you worshiped satin if you played. Life was good.
With my tax returns I bought a very nice looking Alpha Mox Rudy. Sorry Ruby with Alpha Investments, it wasn't graded, but I did get it from a reliable source. Yes I floppied the names around.

According to the PSA population report there are 7 Gem Mint 10's Bad Moon Alpha's out of 34 that were submitted for grading.
